Chapter 24
KAT ALL BUT tumbled from the carriage as it drew to a halt outside of the dower house at Vallentyn. After nearly twelve hours of travel with four children cooped up inside of a carriage, she was also seriously reconsidering whether she wanted to have off-spring of her own.
The three carriages had set out first thing that morning, each with four children and an adult, with the two men alternately riding in the third coach and on Morgan’s horse with a child up in front of him.
The children in Kat’s coach had been happy and excited, but it had quickly become apparent that Teddy was susceptible to motion sickness. He’d grown very quiet and then pale. Luckily, Kat had been watching him and reacted quickly enough to prevent a mess inside the carriage when his breakfast came back up
