Chapter 5 KAT SETTLED HERSELF on the dainty white and gold brocade chair and pasted a polite smile on her face. Her cousin was chattering away to their hostess, Lady Cowper, as if the two were old friends. For all Kat knew, they were, but she wasn’t too sure Caroline moved in such circles. Oh, she was certain the lady knew her cousin, but whether they were actually anything more than passing acquaintances wasn’t clear.
