BY THE TIME Caroline came by to pick her up at two, Kat had managed to get herself up and dressed. She still felt a little achy from the previous night—taking away someone’s powers always left her feeling this way, but she would be fine. And the prospect of an afternoon of shopping for a whole new wardrobe was enough to get Kat moving.
It wasn’t so much the clothes, or even the shopping that so excited her. Really it was just getting out of the house and doing something that had nothing to do with magic or the Vallen.
