Chapter 3 THE SOUND OF laughter filled Kat’s ears. It wasn’t a happy laughter, more like that of triumph than joy. Kat couldn’t quite see the face of the man laughing. It was too dark, and his hat was pulled down low over his eyes. “Holy b****y hell,” the woman next to the man said. Kat would have been shocked at her language, but honestly, the woman didn’t look like the type who cared for conventions.
