What Do You Think of Him?
Today was a perfect day for floating in the pool, so with her black one piece vintage bathing suit, Rae had hopped onto a float and coasted around the pool soaking in the sun. Following the kidney shape outline with her leg under the water, and finding complete relaxation. She thought about what Markus had told her earlier, “Do you think the universe fights for souls to be together? Some things are too strange and strong to be coincidences.” Depending on what the future holds, it's not going to be a happy ending for everyone. She had started to doze off, that is until, “Is Xander still here? He said he was going to stop by after work.” Avery got home. Just the sound of his name now was starting to get to Rae. But she knew she would have to keep everything bottled up inside. She didn't want to show how she was feeling. Avery threw her purse onto the pool chair and kicked off her shoes before jumping in the pool fully clothed. She swam up to Rae's float and lingered at it's edge. “Did you meet him this morning? I know he was still in bed after I left.” Avery was dying for a reply, an answer, she wanted recognition that she was dating a really hot guy and wanted someone else with a p***y to gush over him and be jealous. Rae wasn't going to give her satisfaction like that. “I met him. Cooked him breakfast before he left a few hours ago.” Rae responded. “Well... what did you think? f*****g sexy as s**t right? He is so f*****g great in bed too. He is totally not my normal type of guy. I thought I would try someone different. And he is SOOOOO good in bed. f**k! Like there's this way that he gets to my p***y that, I don't know, he just hits every feel good spot known to the human anatomy. You know?” Rae was in awe of hearing the magical things he could accomplish in the bedroom, and the amount of pleasure he could bring to a woman in bed, but she didn't want to hear about it coming from Avery. Rae didn't want to think of Avery and Xander doing much of anything together. He was Rae's fateful flavor.
Avery swam around a little bit more, until she heard her phone starting to ring. Leaping from the pool, she managed to get Rae soaking wet during her exit. “Oh hey baby...” Avery looked back and mouthed that it was Xander on the line. Rae rolled her eyes and tried to find that happy place again before Avery had made her grand entrance home. As she could only hear Avery's responses through the patio doors, listening to the baby talk, the coos and the moans, she couldn't picture Xander putting up with that kind of girly bullshit reactions she was giving him. Avery talked to him like she was a teen girl gushing over her high school crush, which seemed completely out of character for Xander. As Avery started to emerge from the house back outside, Rae thought that she would be seeing him very soon. “So is the flavor coming over again?” she asked. Through squinted eyes from the sun, she saw Avery nod her head in agreement. “You don't mind do you? I promise this time we will keep the volume down lower so you can get some sleep.” Rae leaned back into the float again, and was counting down the moments of how their interaction would be tonight.
It was starting to get late into the night, and Avery sat by the door with her phone in hand, clinging to when Xander was going to call or appear at the door. Rae had ordered some food, and decided to get a quick shower before anyone's arrival. “I'm getting in so, if the delivery guy comes, can you just give him the money for me please?” Avery nodded, but it was clear that she hadn't bothered to retain the information needed for the action. Just as Rae had gotten to her room, and started to undress, she heard Avery moan loudly, which let Rae know that Xander had made it there. She heard hurried footsteps to the room down the hall and the door slam shut. With a towel wrapped around herself she walked out of her room and downstairs to find that the house was now empty. “Son of a bitch.” There was a knock at the door, and Rae knew it was the delivery guy. She ran to grab the money before opening the door. She realized when she saw the expression on the delivery guy's face that she was still in her towel. “Keep the change.” He leaned back and forth, in a desperate attempt to see something that should be hidden, but Rae slammed the door in his face. She walked to the kitchen to put the food down, with every intention to try to get into the shower again, but as she made her way towards the steps she collided with another body which sent her crashing to the floor. The towel that was securely tied around her body was now open and exposing everything. She looked up to see that it was Xander that had knocked her back onto her ass, and he didn't seem to feel shame in looking at her naked body while she lay on the floor.
“Damn it!”, she said as she closed the towel flaps and started to get back to her feet. “Sorry, Avery said that I should come down and get the delivery guy because you were hopping in the shower. You know, I didn't realize that you shave that much down there.” He had stretched his hand out to help her up, but she stubbornly refused to accept it, and made it to her feet on her own. “That's okay, I didn't think she was paying attention when I asked her in the first place. but... your here now,” she said in a sarcastic chipper voice. Xander leaned his head back against the wall, and continued to look at Rae from head to toe, clearly he was thinking of something very naughty. “Did you get a nice look? I don't think you need to worry yourself about how much I shave and where,” she said to him while she walked past him back up the stairs. He sheepishly smiled, and tugged at her towel, “I'm not going to complain. I would liked to have seen that a little longer. My imagination is working overtime right now.” Rae furrowed her brow and gave him an angry look, “Remember you have a girlfriend only twenty feet away, let your imagination work in her room and not out here in the hall.” She hurried to the bathroom before closing the door.
She slammed her body against the bathroom door, and bit her bottom lip. It was going to be difficult to behave herself just as much, if these were the stunts that he was going to pull when they were in the same room together. Turning on the shower, she hung the towel on the hook, and let the steamy shower water relax her tense muscles. She lathered up the loofah sponge and started to wash herself, but it felt like there was a draft of a chilly breeze hit her body. She heard the door close as she peeked out from behind the shower curtain. “That son of a b***h. Sneaky bastard,” she muttered under her breath and continued to shower. Once clean, she walked to her bedroom, and was surprised that Avery had kept to her promise, and everything thus far was quiet. Rae got dressed quickly and made her way to the kitchen so she could enjoy her food, she had some designs she needed to complete before the end of the week. Just to play it safe, she opted to sit outside on the patio while eating that evening, just in case Avery and Xander attempted to wake the neighborhood with their bedroom concert.
With an open bottle and glass of wine next to her at the table, Rae was quick to start sketching her new design for Markus. Noticing that it was getting late she wanted to complete this last one, and refused to go to bed before it was completed. As she yawned she heard a voice from behind, “Late night?”, that raspy voice echoed in her ears. She didn't need to turn to know that Xander had found her out on the patio. “Just finishing up some work. I have to get these designs complete because I have to drop them off tomorrow, well today”, changing her sentence when she saw what time it was. Xander sat in the chair next to her, and leaned over looking at what she had drawn. “Wow! Those are f*****g awesome Rae. I didn't know when you said you could draw that you meant this?” She smiled when she saw his widened eyes admiring her sketches.
“So you left sleeping beauty in bed?” He shrugged and leaned back into the chair, lighting the cigarette he had placed on his sexy lips. “Avery said that she felt bad for keeping you up the other night, and suggested that we watch a movie or something on TV, but when she started to doze off, I wasn't sleepy enough to just lay there. So I thought I would...” Rae looked over at him, “Look for me?” He glanced over at her, with only the corner of his eye. “Yes. Is that an issue?” They sat in silence for a moment, listening to the waves of the ocean crash against the coast line sand, the crickets chirping in the corners of the yard, and the water swirling around in the pool. The yard was lit by warm low party lights that were hung from the fence, lanterns were perched every so many feet around the pool's exterior, and there was a middle eastern lantern perched on the table between them. “So...”, Xander said trying to strike up small talk. Rae looked over at him, and smiled. “Have you said anything to her yet?” She asked. He looked over to her, “About what?” She shook her head, “That you know me? I think it's going to be awkward with all of us around each other if she doesn't know.” He leaned back into the chair again, “Well, have you told her that we know each other?” Rae looked away from him, “Yeah, I didn't think you did either.” Silence grew again between them, until he spun in the chair to face her. “I don't know what to do in this situation? I mean I like her a lot, but... We had something that day, and I know we are at that point in our lives where we are ready to pick up where we left each other that day. After some time, I thought that our paths may never cross... I never thought it would be like this. You could always use the excuse that you met me before she did, so that I'm not off limits,” he thought that would have at least had Rae crack some kind of smile. “You know, you have been on my mind, day and night. Hell, I masterbated to that kiss we had for like three years. The fact that you smelled like vanilla and lavender, your lips tasted like the icing that was on the danish we split, and your tongue... I kept imagining that tongue in other places doing other things.” He reached and held on tight for Rae's hand as she turned to face him, “But this isn't how it should be. I would love to be with you too, but there has always been a rule between me and Avery...” he immediately interrupted her, “We don't date the same guy, yes I'm aware.” She squinted her eyes and continued her speech, “We never had the same tastes, so I never thought something like this would ever happen. And, worst of all, it doesn't seem like you want to stop seeing her, so that answers that.” He didn't release his grip from her hands, and leaned in closer. Rae felt his breath against her neck, and the warm heat emanating from his skin. She was frozen, and refused to move. Rae felt guilty that she too wanted to feel his lips once again, after all of these years. Xander lingered just hair lengths away from having his lips touch hers, his legs were intertwined with hers, and she felt him put his hand on her inner thigh, but as though a flame was lit under her ass, Rae pulled away and started to gather her things and head inside. “What?,” he started to walk after her. “This isn't right. We shouldn't do this,” Rae said adamantly. She stopped herself on the steps, and turned to look back at him. The moment she saw him smile at her, she felt a warm surge of wetness run between her thighs. “I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable,” Xander hesitated, attempting to make that comment not seem like a lie. He hardly felt guilt at all, this was merely proof to him that Rae still felt something for him. She shook her head, hurried up the stairs and Xander was following close behind her. It was too late when he saw her shut her bedroom door, and extinguish the light from within.
