Chapter Five

‎"If you ask me, I really don't understand why you're acting like a teenager who's just hit puberty" ‎Sayre halted in her tracks, her right hand fisted by her side as she fought not to speak. ‎She was not going to give him what he wanted. He was so easy to read that it drove her insane . When she tried to open the door, it refused to budge. ‎She turned around to see him in her chair. He'd enabled the safety lock, another fancy and unnecessary tool in the office. ‎"Unlock my door" ‎She bit through her pursed lips ‎"No. You're not leaving until you tell me exactly what is wrong with you" ‎"What is wrong with me?" ‎Sayre blinked "That is the most stupidest request you've ever made in your life" ‎"Is trying to check up on you a stupid thing to do? Tell me more, tell me about how foolish I am since you seem to know everything f*****g damn thing" ‎Angry was an understatement to describe how Sayre felt. He was hurting her and he didn't seem to care. Who would think that a sneaky bastard like him who pretended to love her would come back after years of grieving and still have the same effect he had on her like before. ‎She'd woken up to an empty bed on that Saturday in his house. Infact, his side of the bed was laid. Confused and naked, she looked all over the house just to discover that he'd left with nothing as much as a note. Her call went straight to voicemail the 48 times she called him. And a day before the wedding he had in Paris, he'd texted that he was away on a buisness trip. That was the only text she'd received in his five year "buisness trip" ‎She'd fallen into depression ever since. At first the need to suppress her feelings and making by making out with random men in clubs seemed to work until she could not stop thinking about him whenever she was around anyone else. ‎Her mother had put her on the job in year three because wanted to spend her time with Damian and that was it. ‎So many times, she'd felt like an absolute fool for feeling so used. ‎But in the end, they were best friends long even before that and she'd really loved him. ‎"I'll tell you one thing I do know" ‎She began, trying to control her voice to be as steady as possible ‎"Real men don't manipulate their close friends into having s*x with them and abandoning them before the sunrise." ‎Beck was standing in front of her now. His eyes glazed like flames and a micro frown on his face. ‎His right hand rose but fell to his side in defeat. Sayre locked eyes with him daring him to say something, anything. ‎"You think I manipulated you?" ‎"Because you did" ‎"Sayre you didn't have s*x with me because I manipulated you. You f****d me because you wanted to" ‎Taken aback from his vulgarity and plain honestly, she took a step back to brace herself from falling. ‎"You call what happened that night a f**k?" ‎His jaw ticked. Sayre tossed her braids behind her to distract herself from the tears that threatened to fall. She could see it now. Now that she thought about it... She'd been the one who'd gone to his house that night, she was the one who came unto him because he'd touched her and made her feel so safe and welcome. ‎"You f*****g used me and then you left me. I called you 48 times to get to you, only for me to see your wedding pictures in a f*****g magazine six months later. Not only did you do that but you proceeded to ghost me for five years and now you're suddenly here- What are you here for? Because I need you to get your things and leave as soon as you can" ‎He opened his mouth to speak but shut it just as fast. He couldn't tell her the truth, he had no choice. ‎"I did all this with your best interest at heart Sayre" ‎"Stop!!" ‎She screamed. ‎"You didn't have my best interest at heart. You f*****g used me for a one night stand. Just be a man and admit it. ‎He just stood there without a word. ‎"That's what I thought. Coward." ‎She stalked towards her desk to disable the lock ‎"I don't want you near me or around me. f**k you" ‎And with that, she slammed the door behind her. She ran into Anna and the security just outside of her office and stopped to look at them. ‎"You all are fired." ‎She wiped an angry tear off her face. ‎"Especially you" ‎"Miss-" ‎"And don't you dare try to follow me" ‎She was so certain she'd gotten over him, so why the hell did she want closure? ‎People use people all the time and that was just life. Her lips quivered from anger. ‎And that bastard certainly did not deny the claim that he hadn't manipulated her- because he did. And she certainly didn't f**k him because wanted to, she made love with him because she loved him and was dumb enough to think that he loved her too. What more surprise than growing up with a man who you think would move the sun and the moon for you. ‎Tears clouded her vision as she waved down a cab. She was better on her own anyway. She'd always been. ‎"Madea, 28th Street" ‎She was going to let go. Yes, that was what she was going to do. Life was already hard enough. If her mother thinks she's incapable of running a company, then maybe that was true. And if Beck didn't think he f****d her over- in his words f****d him, that was fine too. Everybody was allowed to have their own opinions anyway. ‎"Turn around." ‎ "What?" ‎"I said turn around. Take me back to Carter" ‎"Where?" ‎She laughed ‎"Oh my days, the place you picked me from?" ‎The driver took a detour and in no time, pulled over at the company. Mr jones was beside the parked car, phone in hand and looking anxious. ‎Oh, he must have been worried. She glanced at her phone, he'd already dailed her phone. She alighted from the vehicle and rushed over to him. ‎"Miss" ‎"Oh my God. Mr jones I'm so sorry, I was a little bit in my feelings and I took a cab." ‎She forced herself into the old man's arms. Mr jones hated physical touch. ‎"I'm back now" ‎"Do you need me to drive you home?" ‎She shook her head no. ‎"It's not closing yet." ‎The sound of a horn filled her ears. ‎It was the van driver. She hadn't given him any money. ‎"Oh God, can you attend to him for me please? I'm late for work" ‎She pulled away, practically running up the stairs into the building. ‎"I'm back bitches" ‎ ‎
