Chapter 11: The Confrontation “Why are you out here this late, Isabella?” Dante’s voice was low and dangerous. She turned, her heart pounding. “I… I needed some fresh air,” she stammered, clutching her robe tighter around her trembling body. Dante stepped closer, the sharp scent of his cologne intoxicating in the cool night air. His gaze searched hers, dark and unreadable. “At this hour? Dressed like that? You think I’m a fool?” Isabella’s breath hitched. “I swear, Dante. I wasn’t meeting anyone—” He grabbed her arm, pulling her closer, his fingers digging into her skin. “Then explain the messages I intercepted today,” he growled, his phone lighting up between them. On the screen was a message from Ethan: “Tomorrow night, same place, my love.” Isabella’s world spun. He knew. “Please… Dante, let me explain,” she whispered, tears welling in her eyes. “Explain?” His lips brushed dangerously close to hers. “The woman I’m ready to kill for, betraying me?” The words struck like daggers. She trembled in his hold, her heart racing, guilt mixing with terror. She wanted to speak, but darkness closed in around her vision. “Isabella,” he hissed. “Don’t you dare faint on me now—” But it was too late. Her knees buckled, and her body collapsed against him. “Isabella!” Dante caught her before she hit the marble floor, panic flooding his chest. His arms cradled her limp form as her face paled. “Damn it,” he cursed, scooping her into his arms and storming inside. “Get the car ready!” he barked at a guard, his voice sharp as a blade. He didn’t care about anything else now. All he knew was that something was terribly wrong. And as the car sped into the night, Dante whispered, “If you die on me, Isabella, I swear I’ll burn this entire city down.”
