|Twenty Nine|
|Luxinia|
The odd sound of a high pitched beeping sound pierced through my drowsy haze. Flashes came across my vision as I woke up and realized that I was no longer at the ball anymore. Something soft was across my body, it was as if almost I was in heaven. My vision refocused and I took in my surroundings. I was in a white room and to my right, there was a red nightstand that had a single daisy inside a tall glass of water. I sat up slowly, the side of my stomach feeling like someone pinched me a million times in the same place.
Wincing slowly, I turned and stared at the only door in the small box room. The door was slightly ajar and through the tiny slit, I could only see a dark blue wall. I looked around some more and saw a small window to my right. I couldn't see out of it due to where the bed I was laying on was, but the sunlight coming through the sheer white curtains told me that I wasn't in Dominick's mansion anymore.
I took a pained breath and threw my feet to the side of the bed. My whole body exploded in a world of pain. Dark spots etched into my vision. Groaning slowly, I yanked out wires that were attached to my chest. The beeping sound stopped, but only to be replaced with a long continuous beep. I grabbed onto the IV drip that was attached to me. I knew better than to yank it off. The IV drip squeaked forward as I stumbled towards the ajar door. My hand wrapped around the doorknob and I slowly opened the door, peeking out of the hallway.
The hallway walls were dark blue and the floors were a nice white ceramic floor. The whole place looked pretty peaceful and that's what scared me. This place was way too peaceful. All I remember was Blair running towards me and then another explosion happened and everything went black.
Waking up with an IV drip attached to me and a heartbeat monitor was alarming, especially since supernatural creatures never needed any sort of medical attention. I stared at the door across from me, That door was also slightly open so I limped over and looked inside. There was Tessa, lying in her bed, her face facing away from me. I pushed open the door quickly and hobbled inside. Tess sat upright quickly, her eyes wide with fear.
I stared at her, a blank expression on my face. I was worried. This place looked like a hospital. Tessa was also hooked up to medical things and it unnerved me. It didn't look like she was being held against her will, but I still didn't feel good about the situation we were in.
"Lux, thank heavens you're okay!" She exclaimed.
I staggered over and sat on the chair that was next to her bed. My body sagged into it, slowly regaining my energy. Staring at her in shock, I cleared my dry throat multiple times before I opened my mouth. "What happened?" I asked hoarsely.
Tessa stares at me, not once taking her eyes off me. "We were rescued."
"By who?" I asked while staring at her arm. She not once took it out of under the blanket which I thought was weird since Tessa always talked with her hands.
"Daemon, Blair, Jesse, and Roman. Daemon Petrove actually came back from the dead and saved us," Tess smiled softly with tears in her eyes.
"Jesse? Where is he?" I asked, my eyes searching around.
"He's in one of the rooms here. Lux, I have to warn you, you and Jesse had the most serious injuries," Tessa explained, her eyes meeting mine.
"Why? What happened? How long have I been out of commission?"
"Well, you've been out for about two weeks. You had a really bad concussion and damage from the blast. I believe you also shattered a few ribs." Tessa pointed at the IV attached, "That's a special mix in there that sustains your s*x energy while you were in a medically induced coma. When you were hit with the blast, you wouldn't stop letting out s*x energy. No one could get near you, Lux. You were like an incubus with how much power you were radiating. Even incubi got affected by your s*x energy. You can't tell anyone about that."
"Huh? That's not good," I mused. Perhaps it was after the effects of Everen's blood.
"How's Jamie?" I asked, my eyes bright.
Tessa sighed and raised her hand above the blanket. My eyes widened at her left hand. Her hand was bandaged up, it looked like she was missing fingers. "Tess what happened!?"
"Dominick's... torture methods are pretty up to date. He cut off my ring finger and then my pinky. I was lucky it wasn't my right hand. They should slowly grow back in a few years," Tessa stared at her bandaged hand and sighed, "And Jamie, well... they couldn't get him. Jesse was injured badly and he couldn't get to him. Dom took Jamie."
I was horrified, Jesse... lost against Dom? And Dom still had Jamie. This was one of the worst-case scenarios. Dom would break him.
"We'll get him back. We have to," I said, grabbing her right hand and squeezing.
Tessa nodded, tears flowing from her eyes.
There was a timid knock on the door and I turned around slowly, wincing as I did so. Daemon stood at the doorway, his arms folded. He wore a beanie with a tight muscle tank and black cargo pants. He had bandages wrapped around his tree trunk-like arms and one across his collarbone. "Hi girls."
"Hello, again Daemon. Look Lux is awake and kicking," Tess half-smiled.
"It seems she is. And I know you're eager to see Jesse, but before you do, I must tell you, everything is now different," Daemon grabbed a chair from the far side of the room and dragged it closer to me and Tess.
"In what way?"
"Well, Bloodtrei knows that we are all missing. Currently, we're in a safehouse in Delaware and soon we'll have to move again. They are looking for all of us. We made an enemy of Bloodtrei and especially Dominick. Not only did we take you two, but we also killed a lot of their incubi. It's suspicious that Roman, Blair, and Jesse are all gone at the same time. They eventually have to return to keep up appearances. We already have a plan for them." Daemon explained, staring at both Tessa and me seriously.
"Okay, so what do we do in the meantime?" I asked.
"Lay low and stay here for now. We'll be moving soon. We need to keep you guys off the grid that's our priority," Daemon replied.
"So what, we just pretend everything's okay and we just not do anything? Act like the damsels in distress? And are we going to pretend that Jamie isn't still in Dominick's grasp?" I snapped, gripping the edge of Tessa's bed.
"No, that's not what I'm saying. I lost a lot of people that day. We need to be smarter with our numbers. Soon enough Bloodtrei is going to think of recruiting the succubi to defend the incubi. We can't afford that. We have double agents in the field slowly convincing claimed succubi to join us. It's just a waiting game," Daemon stood up and crossed his arms.
"That's ridiculous. I want to see what Jesse thinks about this. Bring me to Jesse right now," I snarled, standing up quickly.
A wave of dizziness came over me and I stumbled back towards the chair. Daemon came and grabbed my arm, helping me right myself. "Okay, just wait I'm bringing you a wheelchair because it's obvious you can't walk. Don't strain yourself." Daemon got up and left the room and quickly came back wheeling a wheelchair in.
"Thanks," I grunted and sat down, bring the IV drip with me.
Daemon waved bye to Tessa and I smiled at her and she smiled back, but you could still see the sadness in her eyes. "We will get Jamie back," I murmured, letting Daemon wheel me around down the hall.
Daemon stopped in front of a door at the end of the hall. I took a deep breath. "Will he be awake?"
"Yes he's in a medically induced coma for now, but it'll be easy if you let out some of your s*x energy that I heard about," Daemon replied as he turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.
"I don't know how I did that," I replied.
"It's a safety mechanism for you. It's normal," he explained, bringing to Jesse.
His eyes were closed and he had a lot of tubes coming out of him, far more than any of us had. He was half in his demon form and his left wing hung over his bed and dropped on the ground. The number of bruises he had on his face and upper chest scared me. There were also burns throughout his face that unnerved me. "What happened to him?"
"He was stabbed by a Seraphic blade," Daemon replied coming over on the other side of his bed and looking at a bag of blood that was attached to a metal pole, "we're trying to clean out the poison in his bloodstream, but the seraphic power embedded in his body."
I took Jesse's clawed hand in mine and stroked the side of his face that wasn't burned. "How did this happen?"
"We have reason to believe that Dominick stabbed him with a seraph blade," Daemon sighed, "I have no idea how Dominick can wield an angel blade, but soon we'll figure it out."
I nodded, unable to say a word. How could Dom be able to even go near a seraph blade? Not any kind of demon could go near it. Angels had the power to wield one, especially since seraph blades are made of angel's blood. Demons like us would instantly get burned. Something dangerous was happening and needed to figure out exactly what.
Daemon walked out silently, leaving me alone with Jesse.
I kissed Jesse's hand and kept stroking the side of his face. My fingers grazed against the horn on his forehead down to his sharp jawline. Seeing him half in his form made me worry. He was so out of it that he couldn't even stay human.
"Jesse, I'm so sorry," I stared at him and sent a wave of s*x energy towards him. I needed him to wake up.
Jesse stirred slowly. His lips parted and his eyes fluttered. I sent more towards him and his grip on my hand tightened.
Suddenly, Jesse jolted awake, his eyes glowing black with white pupils. "Luxinia!" He gasped, his eyes on me instantly.
I leaned forward cupping his cheeks. "Jesse."
Jesse leaned back and took a deep breath. He winced and stared at me. "Jamie--I couldn't get to him. Dom... he had some sort of blade on him."
I nodded half smiling. "Don't worry. You saved Tessa and me. We will get Jamie next. He's strong he can protect himself. We're safe that's all that matters right now."
Jesse nodded and closed his eyes. "I can't believe we pulled it off."
"What do you mean?" I asked, staring at his eyes. They were slowly turning back to the way they normally are, all silvery. His true form was fading slowly as Jesse regained control of his body.
"I didn't think I would get you out of that place. I mean--I saw the way you were... I didn't think I would see you like this. You look so much healthier," Jesse smiled. One of those genuine smiles that I saw so rarely on him.
I ran my hand through his hair, tugging on his always present ponytail. "You never fail to impress me Storm." I grinned, my eyes glued to his. A few months ago I would never even think that I would even socialize with Storm much less have feelings for him. He isn't like the other incubi that treat a woman like slaves.
"C'mere love," Jesse laced his hand with mine.
I stood up shakily, sitting on his bed. With his good hand, he tugged on my hip and brought my leg over so I was straddling his waist. I smiled softly at him. "You know this isn't me. I'm not a human girl, Jesse. I'm a succubus. I'm a s*x demon and eventually, if I become unclaimed I'll have to sustain myself somehow."
Jesse stared at me. "Why are you bringing this up now?"
My eyes trailed down to the ground. Why was I bringing this up now? Out of all the things going on I had to start talking about our relationship. I knew I was still claimed to Dominick. I couldn't be unclaimed from him. It wasn't like Jamie. It's different. He had power. I could feel him. I could probably hear his thoughts if I concentrated hard enough. He would know if I was delving into his thoughts. I had to stay detached. Without Dom being around giving me his s*x energy, I would soon start having withdrawals. I would soon have to resort to draining humans. Even if I was unclaimed, I would have to have s*x with humans in order to sustain myself. Jesse couldn't help since he's not my claim.
"I will claim you, Lux." Jesse stared at me with an intensity that I wasn't familiar with receiving.
"Jesse... it's not like that. We're free now. Daemon told me. We have to lie low, I know but I don't have to be claimed by any incubus. I can live with no worries. I cannot be claimed. I refuse to be anyone's," I explained, tightening my grip on Jesse's hand.
"Luxinia. I want you to be mine. You are mine. I have to own you, darling. It's my nature," Jesse brought my hand to his lips, "I am not like other incubi, I will treat you right and take care of you as you deserve."
"I don't want anyone to own me. I want to be your equal," I frowned, wondering why Jesse couldn't understand this. I thought he liked that we were equals.
Jesse gripped my hands. "I will absolutely not let that happen. I must own you, Lux. You are mine. I can not--I will not--lose you again."
"Don't pull this s**t, Jesse. I know it was hard to see me in the state I was in when Dom had me, but it's not going to happen again," I snapped, lifting my leg up and getting off Jesse. I limped back to my wheelchair.
Jesse sat up fully and threw his legs over to the side of the bed. He looked at the tubes and wires attached to his chest and arms. He pulled each and every one of them before he stood up. "We'll talk about this later. Since I'm up, we need to discuss our next moves."
I sighed. It was amazing how Jesse sustained more damage than I did and yet he was back up on his feet in no time. Me on the other hand, I needed a wheelchair. He literally got stabbed with a seraph blade and he was fine. It... bothered me. How an incubus could jump back so quickly. They say I'm powerful, that I wasn't supposed to be born a succubus. I was meant for more. It was so hard to believe when they said that, especially when I couldn't protect the people I loved.
Jesse was an alpha male, no doubt about it. He wasn't used to showing emotion or his vulnerabilities. I had hoped he would show me the real him more often. Him seeing me in Dom's custody must have been hard for him, but it doesn't give him a right to own me. I know that he was concerned about me, but it felt like more of an owning thing. it was as if he needed to have me rather than needing to save me. The ordeal I went through with Dom wasn't something I could get over the next day. It took me four years to try to heal myself after what Dom did. This time was shorter, but it was no different. Dom was evil, he will always be. I knew Jesse isn't like Dom, but still. I like being my own person, my thoughts being my own.
Jesse stretched, his loose shorts hanging low on his body. There were numerous bandages on him still and he looked exhausted. But at the same time, he looked so good. He was shirtless and even though gauze covered most of his torso, I could still see his muscles ripple when he moved. He grabbed a glass of water on his nightstand and handed it to me. "Drink."
I took it and drank the glass slowly, watching his every move. He slid on a black shirt over his body, wincing slightly as he did so. He walked back to me and kissed my forehead. "When you are all healed, I will slide my c**k right into that pretty mouth of yours while I'm knuckle deep inside you."
A shudder wracked my body with desire. Jesse pulled my chair and wheeled me out of his room. "Everyone should be in the lounge."
I nodded silently willing away all the dirty thoughts that flooded into my mind.
I was worried, especially what was in store for our future.
