ON AN OPEN FIELD IN THE IMPERIAL PALACE...
Haru and Titi were on stage, the match just started and Haru was launching an assault. Using one of his best moves, he slashed towards Titi with great ferocity. The s***h made a sound audible enough for everyone present, a fact that still startled Matero. Titi didn't make an attempt to evade, she didn't pull her sword, instead she released her strange aura and moved her palms. Then the two collided...
There was no loud bang, instead a sudden calm descended upon the stage, the whoosing of Haru's s***h disappeared completely. Gradually, Haru's arms twisted and sent the strike away from it's target.
"What is going on?"
"Ah, he missed?"
"Not this technique again." Haru screamed in his heart. Each time Titi released her aura, he felt like he was a stone plunging into the ocean. His entire explosiveness and fierce attacks would merely sink into an abyss, a suction force would pull him closer and like currents in an ocean, an unseen force guided by Titi's hands sends his attacks elsewhere. Each time he had struck towards Titi, since the very first time they fought, she had never blocked a hit directly, instead he had always missed. At first, the power accompanying the attack disappears, then a force pulls him towards Titi and makes him lose control, finally a strange pressure that corresponds with the way Titi moves her hands directs his attack else where. All these occurrs in no time at all and is extremely gentle, almost undetectable for casual cultivators.
"Clang." The sound of metal went round the field, this was when Haru's s***h stabbed right into the stage. A portion of the stage showed signs of cracks.
Haru pulled back, Titi remained on a spot, not leaving her initial position. Matero comprehended a lot from Titi's move and could see to an extent what Titi did.
"Cut through." Haru quickly struck again, the explosiveness and chaos that had disappeared quickly peaked once more. The s***h whistled in everyone's ears and Haru approached Titi from the sides.
"Another powerful attack."
"This Haru really has explosive attacks."
"Futile. You can't defeat me." Titi calmly said, she turned to face the incoming strike, her aura spewed out of her once again. Haru felt like he was underwater, with billions of gallons crashing upon him, the sound accompanying his moves drowned in the growing tranquil. Once again, without making contact, Titi deflected his attack. His sword plunged into the stage like the first time, before he could pull it and dash backwards, Titi kicked him backwards and assumed her stationary stance once more.
Haru rose to his feet, his sword lay beside him. He picked it up and brushed his clothes for dust.
"I was expecting all this again." Haru smiled as he spoke, he inspected his sword and got ready for another wave of attacks. He didn't mind repeating all that happened over and over till he becomes exhausted.
"Oh. Then all this is pointless." Titi laughed at Haru's folly. "Okay, I won't wait till you get exhausted." She added and changed her stance. The air rippled in all directions slightly, it was like an unseen domain was extended around Titi. "I end this now."
Haru was slightly puzzled, Titi had never moved in such manner before, he didn't want to risk what she intended to do and decided to make his own move quickly. He might not stand a chance to attack if she moved first.
"Dominant strike under heavens." Haru yelled and his aura exploded again, this time it was greater than all the former releases. The stage trembled, it blew in all directions. Matero could actually feel it on his face, so did everyone else.
"Such incredible aura release."
"This is by far the most chaotic aura we have witnessed here today."
"Hmmm, now he is releasing about ninety percent his full battle aura." Matero analysed to himself.
Haru was like an arrow that pierced through the air, his speed surpassed the limits of humanity, so many disciples couldn't see him move. Like a raging storm, he descended on Titi, sword first. He slashed downwards from above, he had leapt to reach Titi's head level and from there, he struck downwards.
Once again, Titi's aura spewed upwards, Haru felt like he had jumped into a waterfall, the pressure pulled him downwards, faster than he intended.
"At this rate, his attack won't even reach Titi."
"This method of defense is incredible." The observers made various analyses.
Haru had also observed the fact that he would crash faster than he intended, he had positioned his landing to be right above Titi, but now a force was dragging him into an unseen abyss.
"Never." Haru yelled, his voice shook Titi, she revealed a shocked expression just for a second before quickly regaining her composure. That was not all, in that critical moment, Haru's aura exploded once more. The chaotic breeze that had disappeared as soon as he got near Titi came back with full force. It was like a maelstrom in the deep.
"What...?"
"He is defying Titi's domain. I see." Matero could easily tell what was going on.
"Haru, it is still pointless. Titi is a monster." Da sun sighed and said to himself, he recollected his matches with Titi, the fiercer you went, the calmer her actions.
Haru defied the pulling force and crashed down right above Titi, he slashed out and approached her sword first, the arena was still trembling. The two inched closer and closer and when the sword almost made contact, Titi pulled her sword and slashed out. No aura came from Titi this time around.
"Clang." The two swords clashed, this already incurred the cheers of some disciples, Haru had forced Titi to pull her sword.
"She used her sword." Haru was super delighted.
"I don't think that will end well." Matero could see Titi smile in a very strange manner.
"You've lost." Titi on stage and Da sun who was seated below said this at the same time.
Haru heard what Titi said and his excitement vanished, this was when he noticed the feeling from the clash. It was like he had collided with an elastic wall, the more his force went in the more the wall extended. Nothing collided with him at all!
"No!!!" Haru exclaimed, he couldn't draw back, not until all the force he brought with him was fully expended. This was physics, all his energy was been converted into an unseen extension, one that will surely be released when he reaches his limit. Haru wasn't attacking Titi, he was just a stone on a sling about to be shot off.
"Seeing this again, it's incredible." Matero chuckled and flashed back to previous events from his past life. He was betrothed to a very powerful cultivator called Eva, she used a very complete and complex form of Titi's techniques, they both subdued continents before his death. If Eva still existed, she would be a goddess.
"Bye bye." Titi smiled at Haru who already had a defeated look.
"Bam." An energy surge blasted Haru off the stage, it was equivalent to the force he moved with. The elastic wall was just a feeling, Titi's sword was not distorted saw no casual observer knew what happened. All everyone saw was that the two collided and Haru was blasted backwards, he was thrown clear off the stage.
"Amazing."
"What a wonderful match."
"Titi indeed is powerful."
"Haru is incredible, that much explosiveness." With Titi claiming victory, everyone discussed the match with one another.
It was Titi's turn to choose who she challenged, she glanced through the fourteen and he gaze lingered upon Da sun. Everyone waited anxiously, but she decided not to challenge anyone, she returned to her seat. She remained number two.
It was Da sun's turn and he didn't place a challenge, he was first anyway. It began all over, they all had two chances each and now starting from the disciple ranked fifteenth, they all had chances to challenge any disciple. No one placed a challenge, everyone was satisfied with their positions, Matero felt relieved, he believed the event was about to end when something bizarre happened.
It was finally Da sun's turn, everyone expected him to give up the second chance like he did with the first, he was number one anyway, no match up could profit him. Everyone had their mouths hanging when Da sun went up stage and to everyone's surprise he challenged Matero.
"Finally, the match up I want to see." Lord Saru smiled.
