IT BEGINS WITH REINCARNATION
With a searing headache and tears in his eyes, Ben jolted awake from his slumber, he clutched his stomach to fight a pain that was almost unbearable. He wanted to groan out loud but his strength was gone from him, he was like an observer in a shell. At first his eyes was dim and his head seemed like it would break open any moment but gradually he began to cope with the pain and could make out things with his eyes. He observed his surroundings with the dim vision and from what he could make out he was back in his room. His real room this time around.
A moment ago he was at the gate of destinies, after years of toil and searching, he had found a place where he could finally achieve the power he needed to subdue the entire universe and become an unrivalled god but his rival was there again. A mighty fight had broken out and he had met his end at the hand of that demon that never stopped using low blows, he gritted his teeth as he remembered the previous events and when the headache built up again he had to let go.
With the pain finally easing and strength returning to Ben's body, he gradually rose up to his feet and he remembered he should be dead. He had always longed for what death would feel like in that alternate universe of his mind but somehow, somehow he ended up in his room. He rubbed his forehead, disappointment slowly crept over his face.
"Everything disappoints." He forced a chuckle, battling the throbbing in his head.
"Wait a minute." Ben froze in his own steps, something was off about the room. Something he missed the first time. The possibility of what he discovered filled him with a sudden burst of energy.
He inspected the room with more scrutiny, it was his room alright but in the same sense it still wasn't his room. A lot of things were out of place, it looked almost like a memory.
"What the heck, is that...?" He could barely suppress the shock and excitement in his heart, it started racing so much that he could feel the beat. This was his room from seven years ago, he couldn't believe his eyes. After death, heaven or purgatory would be fine but going back in time...?. Shouldn't he be back in his stasis pod after dropping out of the augmented reality?
He dashed out of his room to confirm his hypothesis, you couldn't say you've gone back in time if you don't confirm it. Right?.
"There is Old B's tea shop... That without a doubt is the Wasons' car, the entire street is like I remember it." Ben was already hysterical, he had only heard of reincarnations or rebirth in all those mythical themed books and right now, this might be what was happening to him.
He instinctively turned back into his room and observed a poster across the wall, on it was the image of a samurai who stood like a god in the calm of war and instantly he froze emotionlessly. Like a robot. Gradually a smile leaked out, followed by a chuckle and he gradually launched into a serious laughter. To an observer, he might look mad but if you knew what he felt, this reaction was damn well expected.
That time six years ago an incredible sensation was quickly sweeping through the world, it was anticipated by every single person alive, a Neuro-based role playing game was about to be launched and the date was that particular day. The one Ben returned to.
With the incredible advancements in technology, the mind and consciousness of players are trapped into a virtual reality, where they live and act as the characters they choose to be. In a mythical world of martial artists who all wanted to dominate the world.
In his past life, Ben had strived and worked hard to even touch the realms of gods, he was one of the very few that stood at the pinnacle of all existence, before he was eventually slain by his rival anx that was the last thing he knew.
"The life support must have malfunctioned somehow when that devil defeated me, I guess I died in reality and I returned to this point in my life." Ben finally understood what was happening, he cracked a sly smile."Turns out I've been given a second chance at it all, so much for Karma."
For six years, Ben had devoted his entire life to this augmented reality, he knows everything about the world he lived in, the secrets, the hacks, the cheat codes. He was a world class gamer and now he had been reincarnated with all the knowlegde and skill he had acquired in his past life. He knew every single thing he needed to do, every action he needed to take to become a god and subdue the entire augmented universe.
Without any further hesitation, Ben rushed into the bathroom for a pretty cold bath, packed a few things and made his way out of the room. He had a clearly defined sense of purpose now that he is back, nothing else apart from subduing the entire universe in that reality mattered. This was a world where everything was possible and he had access to power beyond his wildest dreams. Remembering how total, unrestrained power felt, Matero decided on what he wanted in this life. He wanted to rule the SAMURAI world, nothing else mattered!
SOME WHERE IN THE PLANET, BUT NOT ON IT...
Zelu stood with his arms folded, his attire stained with blood and fresh injuries were on his body. He licked the blood on his lips and his mouth curved into an evil smile, behind him was a body. The figure looked a lot like a much older Ben, his face was almost disfigured.
"With the comprehension of the path of Destiny from the intent of the destiny god, I can finally conquer all under the heavens and match those that sit above it." Zelu began to levitate and gradually the moon turned red as lightning ravaged the skies.
The focus shifts to various figures on the ground below Zelu, who struggled as they gradually turned to dust.
