ONE MOVE MATERO

1142 Words
Tola flashed his sword at Matero and he charged at once. Matero also reacted and charged towards Tola without his own sword drawn, this attracted a lot of frowns from the observers. "This brat is courting death." "Why won't he draw his blade?" Tola neglected the fact and moved with even greater speed, he had victory in his sights. "Slash." Tola struck towards Matero, it was like a mountain crashing down on nothing. Matero smiled, he knew the move inside out, he had studied it in his mind non stop. Just as the blade was about to strike Matero at his chest, he moved. Since he had mastered the attack, Matero knew the path the strike would take and with utmost ease evaded the hit. Tola's eyes widened in disbelief he used all his strength in that one strike and now he was thrown off balance. Even before the audience could catch up, Matero drove his fist into Tola's stomach, hitting one of his vitals. Blood leaked from Tola's mouth as he groaned in pain. With a soft 'pah' sound, Tola was thrown off the stage and it was when his body landed with a thud the audience finally knew what was happening. The kid they underestimated had won. "Impossible..." "He defeated Tola?" "Just one move... who is this kid." Matero went off the stage before the audience could recover from their shock, his father stood bewildered, the elders of the family scanned him with red eyes. It was too late to cripple him now. Matero ignored the shocked gazes around him and he quickly sat down to meditate with his eyes closed, he didn't know if doing things differently would alter this timeline but he still had to get prepared, his next fight was being studied in the depths of his mind. The event continued. "Next up 174 and 99." The presiding judge announced after another round of fights. This time even him anticipated the next match up. Quickly Matero was on stage and his opponent was who he expected, a young beauty named Lin. She held twin swords and had a very wicked smile. Matero remembered she was very brutal and shameless in her methods, so he didn't let his guard down. He determined to end their fight quickly. "Shua." Before the judge gave the signal, Lin moved swiftly towards Matero, she wasn't scared, infact she was confident. She was one of the very few who had mastered a skill and she almost beheaded her previous opponent using the skill. "Twin mantis slash." She yelled and slashed towards Matero, her movement pattern was complex, a casual person would be dazed and have severe if not fatal injuries. Facing the two blades, Matero smiled and with just a simple side step evaded the two slashes, one even missed his neck by inches. "What?" Lin was shocked down to her bones, so shocked she couldn't react to Matero's kick as it slammed directly into her face and just like that, she was thrown off the stage. "Number 174 wins." The judge was impressed, this Matero boy had a comprehension above his physical appearance, it was like their was an acient master within him. Without even waiting a second, Matero left the stage and the audience went wild. The fights continued and Matero won his third and fourth fights. Easily evading the attacks and knocking his opponents off the stage, he was like an ancient master who knew what you intended to do. Matero earned a name, "one move 174." At each arena, the fights were all approaching their climaxes. A lot of hidden geniuses had been discovered and the third arena had just two. They had both defeated all four opponents to be the only ones with a perfect winning streak. Zhao Matero and Zhao Gai. Gai was referred to as the strongest among every single participant, he was at the third step and not second step like everyone else and so the difference in strength was extremely vast. "Next is 174 and 115." Even the judge took a deep breath after his announcement, the match was the talk of every arena, observers even left their arenas to spectate at the third stage. Matero stood on stage and before him was a boy clad in golden robes, his sword hung behind him and it was longer than casual blades. "One move 174 and the presiding 115." This was the fight everyone wanted to see. Gai didn't underestimate Matero, instead he was weary of the latter's capabilities. He quickly released his aura. Each step and realm came with an aura, it is a pressure the body releases whenever the cultivator wishes, the higher the step or realm , the higher the aura and stronger too. Some cultivators of extreme rank could kill others with their auras. All in all, once you are exposed to the aura of anyone with higher cultivation rank, your movements become restricted. You get slower and weaker, this was exactly Gui's strategy to defeat Matero. Weaken then finish him off. The elders revealed smiles, Gui wasn't just stronger, he was also intelligent. "Gui is smart." "He could be the heir of our Zhao family." "As expected of the family's head son." In the face of this pressure Matero remained unruffled, his calm demeanour didn't waver. Instead he clenched his fist and let out a lazy smile. Gui frowned, it was like he was facing an endless abyss that was unmoved by his aura. Shrouded by a thick sense of danger, Gui charged. He was almost a streak as he moved with an incredible speed, some participants couldn't even see him move. In an instant he was standing before Matero. "Cutting king, break open." He yelled and slashed towards Matero, the s***h came with feeling that it could cut through anything, the blade glittered under sunlight. The path of the s***h was straight foward but bore immense power. Not even making attempts to evade, Matero punched through the flaw in Gui's move, before the sword made contact with his skin his punch hit it's target. It was quickly followed by the sound of bones breaking. Gui's eyes widened in pain and disbelief, Matero let out a smile. They both know who won and how.
