CLOSING THE CULTIVATION GAP

“First let me close the cultivation gap.” Matero moved, he ran towards the three before him, he moved with a fairly normal speed. Fast approaching from the other side, a huge yellow crescent closed in on Matero.
“Hmmph, let me see you counter my full mist s***h with your current level of cultivation.” Ardona laughed after unleashing the attack.
Matero stopped and raised his sword before himself, his body glowed with a bright light. “Buddha body.” He yelled just before impact.
“Bang!!!” The figure of Matero was thrown backwards, he landed on his feet with ease, no bruises of any sort on his body, he even smiled.
“Impossible.”
“Even I can`t take the hit head on with such ease.” Lamp was shocked.
“The attack just now was my best but I expected it to be sufficient.” Ardona gritted his teeth. “I underestimated the bastard.”
“The first step!!!” Matero closed his eyes and his aura disappeared, the others began to wonder what he was up to. A new terrifying aura broke forth from him.
“He stepped up.”
“But he showed no signs of stepping up, how then could he?” Ony almost spat out a mouthful of blood from the shock.
Xiao who was below cheered loudly, the supervising official narrowed his eyes and wrote. The manner with which he wrote attested to the fact that he was shocked.
“My aura is far greater than that of other cultivators at the fourth step of the second realm.” The energy coursing through his veins was incredible. “My chakra is purer and more condensed.”
“Mountain king of the golden mist.” Lamp yelled and the entire arena shook. His aura and chakra formed a figure behind him, it was an ape clad in full battle armor. Matero remembered something and he smiled.
“Bam!!!” The figure stomped it`s feet on the ground, the stage was like it rippled, Lamp slashed out in that particular moment. The figure morphed into a s***h that travelled with extreme ferocity, it raged towards Matero. The stage peeled after the s***h, the debris was huge. No one could see through the moving destructive mass.
“Voooooooooom.” The attack engulfed Matero, it blasted off half the stage into tiny bits. The three couldn`t rejoice cause once again Matero was nowhere to be found.
“Such a waste of explosiveness.” Matero laughed lightly, he was already standing behind the three.
“Damn it. That move again.” Lamp almost exploded with anger.
“He is close enough now.” Ony nodded and moved, the way she turned left Matero startled. She was suddenly standing before Matero, her sword just inches away from his throat, with a wicked smile on her lips she slashed.
Matero moved with all the speed he could muster, he pulled away the best he could and he evaded the s***h. A thin cut appeared on his neck. “A bit deeper and I would be dead already.” A bead of sweat formed on Matero`s forehead.
“Heads up, I won`t let you catch your breath.” Ony`s voice came from above. Matero looked up and he was startled by the figure that slashed at him from above, sword first, Ony came crashing down.
Matero reacted, he blocked the incoming strike with his sword and smiled. Since he stepped up, he could read her movements fluently, her movements became easier to follow. She didn`t seem so fast anymore.
“Tccchhh.” Ony pulled away from Matero, just now when they collided, a powerful surge of energy had invaded her body. Her legs trembled, first there was the shock that rocked her limbs, then there was the indescribable feeling of cold that gripped her. “How did he do that?” She had never felt this way in a matchup.
Taking giant strides, Lamp dashed forwards, chakra engulfed him and huge pressures blasted in every direction.
“You worthless vermin, die!” Getting close enough to Matero, he took a stance and prepared to s***h out. “Appear, mountain king of the golden mist.”
Lamp yelled, once again the huge figure of an ape appeared behind him, it roared and the entire stage trembled. Lamp slashed out towards Matero and from his motion came a bright blinding light.
“Lamp is pushing himself so hard.” Ony`s eyes went teary, she knew the repercussions of the technique Lamp unleashed.
The blinding light was followed by a loud bang, a huge energy surge shaped like a crescent shot towards Matero.
“Hmmmm?” Matero attempted instant step as the surge approached, but he felt mighty restraining force. “I see.”
Matero tightened his grip on his sword, “I guess it is time I unleashed a wisp of my true abilities.” He thought within himself. He was suddenly engulfed in lightning, he gently levitated off the ground. The entire dimension began to hum.
“Thunder blossom.” Matero lightly whispered and slashed out. Lightning burst forth with Matero as the center, he was like another blinding light.
Like it appeared when he used it previous times, lightning branched into others that birthed hundreds more and the circle was repeated over and over. This time it was a hundred times stronger, consuming everything in path.
“Bam!!!” The clash was deafening, the resulting blast spewed in all directions. Ardona held on to Ony who almost fell out of bounds from the resulting surge.
Lamp felt like he was drawn into a abyss, he gave everything he had but it was for naught, it wasn`t sufficient. Matero`s thunder blossom consumed more than he could give, it overwhelmed his attacks and travelled towards him almost undiminished.
Lamp`s shirt ripped off, his sword broke into multiple bits even before Matero`s attack arrived. He fell to his knees, despair written all over his face. He felt like he was in the presence of a majestic being, his strength failed him.
Just before the hit landed, the figure of Ardona suddenly appeared before Lamp. “Full mist slash.” Ardona yelled and slashed out to counter, his aura exploded that instant and rushed towards the incoming attack.
“Boooommm!!!” There was another explosion, far greater than the first. Dust and breeze blasted in all directions, the bang echoed all round. It lasted for a while then there was calm.
Ardona stood unmoving, behind him was Lamp who had fallen on his face, he had bloody gashes all over. Matero stood on the other side, lightning still flashed round him. A huge crater had formed in between Matero and the others, smoke also rose from it.
“Shuaaa.” With a step, Matero appeared beside Ony who was barely standing, at the edge of the stage. Ony was shocked, none of them saw Matero move. He just appeared. With a smile, Matero kicked out towards Ony, his body still engulfed in lightning.
“Ony.” Ardona reached out towards her. “Nooooo!!!” he yelled through gritted teeth. Pain was written all over his face. It was evident he couldn`t make it in time.
Ony moved to block the kick, the assault was too sudden and unexpected, this meant she couldn`t evade. Matero also matched her speed, that alone was a shock that restrained her movements. “Bam!!!” Ony was slammed off the stage, she fell out of bounds and disappeared without a trace.
“Alright.” Matero chuckled, he rose to his feet and turned to face Ardona. “Just two more to go and I`ll be done.” He folded his arms and smiled.
A new pressure surged from Matero, the stage shook. Lamp trembled, he couldn`t tell if it was just his body or the stage that vibrated, either way, he was terrified.
“He stepped up again!” Even Xiao couldn`t cheer this time, she was full of dread. She was finally reminded how monstrous Matero was.
