Then she opened the mind-link, not wanting to let her father's anger grow further.
"What happened? Why are you screaming like that?" Delilah questioned him through the mind-link.
But, before she could finish her questions, David quickly closed it. And disappointment started coursing through her veins.
Furious over his actions, she did the one thing she could, look at the sky for help.
Dear Moon Goddess, this doesn't help! Why couldn't he just answer me? Delilah thought, as tears started falling from her eyes.
Every second, she wanted to hold onto a hope that one day her father would finally let her be. However, today wasn't that day.
As something big was about to occur when suddenly, the sound of boots trampling on the snow covered street echoed in the air.
In which her hands started shaking with each step someone made.
When out fo nowhere, something wafted through the air, urging Delilah to sniff the air.
"Asha, do you smell that?" She asked her wolf only to receive silence from her wolf yet again.
Not ready to give up just yet, she dusted herself off, and stood taller. Then, she opened her mouth to speak, despite the fear which snaked its way into her heart.
"Who's there?" Delilah asked, her voice trembling with every word she spoke, not knowing what was about to occur.
However, silence lifted in the wind, causing her to shiver. And thoughts popped into her brain, making her take a second look at things.
This has to be some type of joke! Who would play around like that? Delilah pondered as she trudged her way back to the pack house.
With each step she took, her mind raced as Annie's words kept playing in her mind. A reminder that maybe, this Christmas is the day she'll finally have a change of fate.
"Alpha is looking for his own mate. Hmm." Delilah spoke, her voice just above a whisper.
Right as she was about to twist the doorknob, someone swung it open.
"What... Who did that?" Delilah questioned, shock riveting through her body as she peered closer to see who it was.
Standing in front of her with his arms crossed over his chest, and his eyes squinted.
She is incredibly strong with her wants. But, she knows that she shouldn't be out and about like this! David wondered as his eyes began changing from a blue color to red, fury rising with every passing thought.
And as the silence grew, Delilah began shifting from one foot to the other, unease growing in her body.
"Delilah, speak first. We don't want our father to speak madly at us!" Asha spoke in her mind, anxiety filling every word.
Upon hearing the seriousness in her voice, Delilah stood up erect, her face straightened.
"Asha, you think that's a good idea? What if he..." But before she could continue, her wolf pushed her way forward, making Delilah stumble for a second.
When out of nowhere, a hand gripped her shoulders, steadying her.
Where once again, an irresistible aroma wafted through the air.
But, a second later it was gone, leaving her stunned for a second.
What was that? Who has the audacity to touch me like that? Delilah wondered as the stranger moved their hands to hers.
Not fully aware, Delilah looked inwards at her wolf, a look of shock appearing in her eyes.
"Did you feel that?" She asked Asha, in hopes she wasn't the only one who felt the wave of electricity traveling down her body.
"Woah there Delilah. You're okay." A gruff voice spoke, pulling her closer, but still kept his distance.
Right as Asha stomped her way to the forefront of Delilah's mind, an authoritative voice stopped her.
"Asha, stop right there! You know very well that she has to come to terms with my words!" They spoke, their voice rising just a notch, forcing Asha back.
And Delilah's eyes began to glisten with tears which started to shed.
Her mind raced with a million thoughts, each one worse than the last. However as she looked towards her wolf for guidance, she exhaled.
I can't do this anymore. Asha's right, it's high time I take things into my own hands! Delilah pondered, her heart beating rapidly inside her chest.
As time passed slowly, realization dawned in her brain, making her make a decision that she's never done before.
Just when she was about to overthink it, she stopped immediately, turning back to Asha.
I'm no longer going to let my father get his way, if it's the last thing I would do. She thought, trying to see what she would tell her wolf.
Delilah spoke to her wolf as reassurance flashed through her brain.
"You're right, Asha. I can't prolong this anymore. He needs to know my side of how I feel!" She responded, determination flowing through her veins.
"Good, I'm glad you see it my way. He needs to know we're not letting him have his way." Asha stated gleefully hearing the agreement in every word Delilah spoke.
Then she sighed, a sense of unease forming on her mind. Yet, deep down, she knew the importance of remaining strong despite it all.
So, she peered at him, fury rising with every thought which passed her brain.
"Tell me, father. Why did you have to call me furiously through the mind-link?" Delilah asked David as she removed his hand from her shoulder.
And he squinted his eyes, hurt flashing through.
Why in the world would she do that? I can't believe my daughter would act like that with me! David pondered as he cracked his neck.
Despite her fear, her father raised his hand, stopping the thoughts which passed through his mind.
Then, David, exhaled, and a sigh escaped his lips. As the silence between them ensued, fury started rising higher and higher, until it burst with his words.
"Delilah, how dare you speak to me that way! You know very well that as the Omega's daughter, you're not allowed to be outside by yourself! Especially during this season!"
