The Girl

511 Words
Logan POV The sound of someone crying stopped me as I walked out of the school grounds. Following the sound, I found a girl hunched over against a wall, hidden behind one of the buildings. My heart broke for the girl as I watched her with her head bowed and her knees trembling as she sobbed. As soon as she heard me approaching, she tensed. "Just leave me alone." She shouted out. I responded without thinking. “I can’t do that; I have a rule against pretty leaving girls to cry alone.” She seemed to relax at my voice. "I'm sorry," she said, looking at me. "I thought you were someone else." I didn’t say anything, I couldn’t. She was beautiful. Nothing like the she wolves around here. Their clothes were too slutty, and they were too heavily covered in fake tan for my taste. Her blonde hair was in a mess of curls that flowed down her back. She wore simple clothes, as if she were trying to blend in, though I have no idea how a girl like this could blend in. When her eyes caught mine, I realised they were a beautiful shade of blue. For a second, they seemed to flicker like flames. I realized that I was staring at the poor girl, so I shook my head and sat beside her. “What happened to make you so sad that you’d hide away back here?” I asked her. “You don’t have to be nice to me, I’m fine really.” I just stared at her waiting for her to answer my question. She gave a defeated sigh “I found my mate.” I have no idea why, but that one sentence brought me great sadness. “Was he ugly?” I joked. I was rewarded with the slightest smile. “No. But he’s going to reject me. He started to, but got interrupted by his girlfriend.” She whispered staring at her feet. “Why the hell would someone reject you?” slipped from my mouth before I could stop myself. Why the hell would someone reject this girl? “He said that he couldn’t be with someone like me.” She looked defeated as she spoke. I felt an unexplainable sense of rage, causing me to growl as I spoke. “What do you mean someone like you?” As she looked directly at me, she said, "He meant to say I wasn't good enough for him, that I am a freak." Before I could respond a boy ran up to us, going straight to the girl. “Andy there you are. Where have you been? I’ve been looking everywhere for...” he seemed to pause as he saw me and her. “What the hell is going on? Andy are you okay?” “Alexi I’m fine, let’s go we are going to be late.” She looked at me as she stood up. “Thank you, for helping me.” She said and she walked away with the boy.
