Eva's POV
Two days have passed since I saw Adam in my office. From that day I didn't even go there. Sarah informed me that I got medical leave for two weeks.
I got disappointed as I wanted to leave forever. No, I didn't question her about the resignation as I comprehended, it's not approved. I am sure Adam must have done something. Still, I don't have any courage to confront him.
Furthermore, I have tried my best to not remember him. However, the truth is I have failed miserably. I realized It is not easy. One more thing I have discovered; I wouldn't ever forget him even if I keep running. As if I didn't forget him in these 3 years, there is no chance in the future.
I don't know what I should do anymore.
With grumpiness on my face, I descended the bed and went to the kitchen to have a coffee.
Sarah who was already there made faces seeing me and gave a sharp look to me. I hid my pain and smiled at her. She shifted her gaze somewhere and pretended that she didn't even see me.
“What?” I grumbled and looked around myself for the coffee machine. f**k! How could I forget it was in the shop and I needed to pick it up by today.
“You don't even move out of your room, so, I am quite surprised to see you here,” she sarcastically said.
“Though I know your foot is injured, it is not that bad which is stopping you from showing your face to others,” she added.
“Things got tangled, so I don't know what I have to do,” I bowed my gaze and crossed my fingers.
“Why don't you visit your mother?” She startled me with her words.
“You will get some time to clear your mind and also your mother will feel good,” she further said.
I suspiciously looked at her. She took a deep breath and kept her hand across her chest saying, “Fine! Your mother called me and asked me for a favor. So, I brought this topic.”
“However, I feel you should go,” she further said.
“Do you know that place haunts me?” I sadly chuckled and turned my head. No! It's not easy for me to go there. It's not only about Adam but also about other dark pages of my life. I feel I am not ready to open those pages.
“Is your pain greater than your mother's love? Spend time with her or in the future you would regret,” she said.
I turned towards her and found her lost. Her eyes got teary, but soon it was covered with hate and pain. She clenched her jaws and pressed her lips.
“What happened?” Though I know she won't speak the truth, I asked.
“Nothing! You say, should I book your tickets?” She averted the topic.
“What is going on in the office? Did they settle? I heard they are going to use our office only,” I can also give her tit-for-tat. Though I have an interest in knowing about Adam, he can't easily settle at the new place. His anxiety and migraine increases. I don't know how he managed to settle in London.
“They are going to renovate especially Mr. Miller's cabin,” Sarah said.
“I knew it. Adam won't like those flickering walls. He loves simple things,” my lips curled in a smile. At such a moment, I always forget the bitter past and simply remember beautiful memories; his childish and stubborn side.
“You love him a lot? Isn't it? No, please don't try to deny. I doubted that you have some love problems as I happened to listen to you and your mother's conversation, but I couldn't get a clear idea. However, after seeing your weird behavior after seeing him, I am sure something happened between you two,” Sarah said.
“You must have tried to forget him, but you couldn't have. And you know an amazing fact?” She turned her face towards me. Her eyes again got teary and her face got pale, but her lips got a curl in a smile.
“If your love is true, not a mere attraction then however you run! You won't be able to forget him as your heart won't let you do so,” she further said.
“That's why I am saying that you should take a break from him. In New York, you would be able to clear your mind,” she fluttered her eyelashes and bowed her head.
“Whom do you love?” I asked.
“No, don't try to lie. It's written over your face that you have loved someone immensely. Did he leave you or didn't love you back?” I asked with some curiosity. Also, for the first time, I felt I could pour my heart out before her, but before I did, I felt to know her secrets.
“He loved me more than he should have done, but I wasn't able to match his love. I hope one day I meet him and tell him that he deserves better,” she sadly chuckled and moved little.
“I loved Adam for more than 8 years. I don't know when I fell for him whether it was love at first sight or it was a slow burn. He never saw me as a woman, for him, I was just a friend on whom he can lean. Still, I was happy that I could see his smile, however, three years ago, everything changed,” I also sadly chuckled.
“I don't know if my suggestion is correct or not but Eva if someday Alaric will come to me then I would like to grab a chance though I know it won't happen,” she paused and turned back.
“Face Mr. Miller. Stop running from him. You should make him realize what gem he lost because of his friend zone. However, before doing anything, take a vacation. It will make you look fresh,” she said with glinting eyes.
I sighed and bowed my head saying, “I don't think I can ever stop my heart from thumping before him.”
“You go to your mother and once you come back, we will talk,” she is surely adamant. I know she is not going to give up, so in the end, I hummed but little did I know my decision was going to give me a heart attack.
Sarah smiled and took her mobile saying, “I will sponsor this trip. Say hello to your mother and Ariana and yes congratulate her for her pregnancy.”
“I don't remember telling you her name,” I arched my brows and scrunched my nose.
“I guessed,” she chuckled and left saying, “Pack your bag. You have an early morning flight.”
“What so soon?” I yelled and ran behind her but stopped feeling pain in my leg.
“Sweetheart, I want to enjoy some leisure time,” she laughed and closed the door. I couldn't even run behind her.
Why this sucking nerve can't heal on its own? No, at first why the hell did I even get swelling?
I made several faces and strolled with the support of the wall and went into my room.
……………….
By the early morning, Sarah dropped me at the airport. It seemed more than me, she was excited. She didn't only wake early but also drove my car at high speed, so I couldn't be late.
It appeared as if she would get some reward after sending me. However, thanks to her crazy driving, I reached the airport before time.
After check-in at the airport, I quietly sat in the plane and put on headphones, and covered my face under the blanket.
My heart is racing on the mere thought of visiting my mother. I agreed to go to New York after Sarah's insistence, but I am not sure that it is right or not.
It should be the right decision or else I tangle myself. Further, why should I don't go? The pain from which I ran entirely for three years, I have already faced. Now, I don't have to worry about running into him and about my dark pages then I would live in my apartment, so there is no chance of running into them.
Also, Adam is in London so at least for two weeks I would live in peace.
“Mam, can you shift a little?” An air hostess said. I uncovered my eyes and looked at a man who faced his back towards me. I was sitting inappropriately and blocking his way.
“Please,” she again said. I hummed and set appropriately. My eyes popped out as soon as that man turned.
It was Adam who had put black glasses on his face. Darn! He followed me. What would I do?
To be continued.
