Nora Hale has always known she’s a little too much—too bold, too striking, too confident for people to ignore. At twenty-one, she knows how to use the attention she gets, and most of the time, she’s in control of it. College is supposed to be about networking, internships, and late nights at campus cafés. For Nora, it’s also about staying one step ahead of everyone else, never letting anyone see past her sharp green eyes and polished smile.

But the moment Professor Adrian Hale walks into her lecture hall, control slips through her fingers.

He’s not like the other professors. He’s young, brilliant, and intimidatingly composed. A man with a reputation already trailing him from abroad, he carries himself with the kind of authority that silences a room with a single glance. He’s everything students whisper about in hushed tones—mysterious, untouchable, and far too handsome for anyone’s peace of mind.

And yet, when his gaze lands on Nora, the air shifts.

Adrian knows better than to notice her. He came here to teach, to build a career without scandal or distraction. But no matter how many times he tells himself to keep his distance, his eyes find her in the crowd. Out of hundreds of students, it’s Nora he can’t ignore—the one girl whose confidence unsettles him, whose presence lingers long after the lecture ends.

What begins as stolen glances soon grows into something neither of them can deny. Every word, every brush of proximity, every secret thought becomes a dangerous game. To the world, they are professor and student. To each other, they are temptation made flesh.

But secrets have a way of unraveling, and desire can only be buried for so long.

Will Nora and Adrian resist the forbidden pull between them, or will their secret consume them both?

A story of ambition, restraint, and the magnetic force of forbidden love, Professor, Can You Keep a Secret? is a slow-burn, intoxicating romance that will keep you hooked until the very last page.

Nora Hale
The alarm clock screamed at 7:15 a.m., and Nora Hale groaned into her pillow. She had promised herself she’d start this semester differently: early mornings, organized notes, maybe even eating breakfast like a functioning adult. But promises at midnight always seemed to vanish with the sunrise. With a dramatic sigh, she rolled out of bed, her long hair falling in dark, silky waves over her bare shoulders. She tied it into a messy bun, then stopped, frowned, and pulled it back down. Too casual. She flipped through three tops before settling on a fitted black turtleneck that hugged her figure like it had been designed just for her. Paired with high-waisted jeans and boots, it looked both effortless and intentional. Nora was the kind of girl people stared at without meaning to. She wasn’t just pretty—she was striking. Sharp cheekbones, a full mouth that always seemed on the verge of a smirk, and green eyes that looked like they could see straight through someone. She knew it, too, though she’d never admit it out loud. Confidence wasn’t her problem. The problem was knowing exactly how much trouble her looks could get her into. Her roommate, Kayla, popped her head out of the bathroom. “Seriously? It’s the first day of classes, not a Vogue cover shoot.” Nora shrugged, sliding lip gloss across her mouth. “First impressions matter.” “For professors, maybe. For the rest of us, they just mean syllabi and overpriced textbooks.” Kayla rolled her eyes, disappearing back into the cloud of hair spray. Nora smirked at her reflection. It wasn’t about professors or classmates. It was about control. If people were going to look at her—and they always did—she wanted them to see exactly what she chose to show. By the time she left the apartment, campus was buzzing. Students streamed across the quad, clutching iced coffees and laptops, their voices blending into the hum of a city waking up. The September air was still warm, with the faintest edge of fall hiding in the breeze. She adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder, walking with a stride that turned more than a few heads. It wasn’t arrogance—it was survival. Ever since high school, Nora had learned that attention could be either a weapon or a shield. Better to wield it than to be crushed by it. Her first class was in the old humanities building, its stone steps worn smooth by decades of students trudging in and out. Inside, the lecture hall was already half full. Nora scanned the rows, choosing a seat in the middle, not wanting to look overeager but not willing to fade into the background either. She slipped into her chair, pulling out a notebook and pen. Around her, students were laughing, scrolling on phones, catching up after the summer. Nora didn’t join in. She rarely did. Instead, she leaned back, crossed her legs, and let her gaze wander. She noticed everything—the girl in front of her chewing on her pen cap like it was gum, the guy two rows over pretending to text while sneaking glances at her legs, the pair of girls whispering while eyeing her outfit. Same old. Nora tilted her head, lips curving slightly. Let them look. Because deep down, she was already restless. Same classes, same faces, same cycle of semester after semester. She wanted something new. Something that would make her pulse race for reasons other than caffeine or deadlines. What she didn’t know—not yet—was that this semester was going to give her exactly that. But for now, she sat there in her black turtleneck and glossed lips, twirling her pen between long fingers, completely unaware that her carefully built walls were about to c***k.
