Chapter 5

Drew was half way through his run when he saw something very powerful in the distance where there was a strange bright light. Drew raced through the trees with ease and stopped just at the tree line of the clearing. He had been tracking a pack of rogues when they scattered in the presence of the great power. Using the shadows of the tree line to his advantage, being his wolf is solid jet black, he witnessed how the most beautiful snow white silver wolf caused so much magical chaos only to faint and turn back into ALEX. His mate was the source of the power he senced and she was a white wolf. Just before Alex could hit the ground, Drew was already back in human form and catching her. As he looked down at the naked woman in his arms, he felt nothing but love and care for this woman. He knew the mate bond was strong, but for him to have such strong feelings for a stranger baffled and irritated him. 'We should get her home' Storm, Drews Wolf, said. 'right' and with that, he set off toward town to take her back to her cabin. Once he reached the cabin and placed a sleeping Alex on the bed, he was unsure what to do next. 'Stay' Storm urged. 'No I dont even like this wolf and you want me to stay mate or not I already have a plan and a Luna' Drew barked back. With that the wolf was silent and Drew turned to leave. Just as the door to the front door was being closed Drew could hear faint whinning sounds coming from Alex. Stopping in his tracks drew was at a lose and did not know what to do. When he heard the whinning again he went back up to check on alex to find she was sweating and had a high fever already. At the sight of this drew's heart skipped a beat and he pulled out his phone. With in the thirty minutes the pack doctor and his gram's where by Alex bedside.

"what is wrong with her," Drew asked coldly.

"Well from what I can tell she has probably never shifted if not more than once and she has so much pent up magic she is ready to burst," the doctor said as he still examined a sleeping alex while grams applied cool compresses to try and stop the fever.

"so what does that mean. how do we help her," grams asked with concern in her voice. Hearing how his grams worried for this woman made him even more curious about her.

"right now we try and help with her fever and when it breaks she will need to learn her powers and to shift regularly or this will happen again and it can be fatal," with that the doctor perscribed an potion to help with fever as well as ice baths.

"I will tend to her honey you can go she needs a friendly face not a mean cold one anyway," grams said as she dabbed Alex brow with the cold rag.

"you can't lift her to get her to the ice baths grams, and besides seems im mated to this train wreck anyway," Drew said with crossed arms as he went to start the ice bath. Excitement, hope, and shock swept through Betty upon hearing her grandson verbally claim his mate for the first time. While it did concern her that he was so annoyed and cold about it she knew Alex would win him over once she was through this little illness.

"who goes years with out shifting what was she trying to do die," Drew asked his grams as he lifted Alex from the bed and carried her to the bath.

"It's not that simple my dear. She was an orphan and didn't have her parents. The orphanage tried to help her shift but she never could. Hell she said she never even spoke to her wolf. As for the magic I think that came as a shock to her as well because she did not mention it when we met and she was open about all of it," Grams said as she watched her grandson tenderly care for Alex

"Well people lie," Drew started but was cut short.

"Yes they do which is why I already had her story checked out and it is all true. I also went a step further and guess what her blood line is," grams said with a mischievous smile.

"vampires knowing my luck," Drew snarkily blurted.

"Luna witches lost blood line," Grams said as she smacked Drew in the back of the head.
