The Unexpected Reunion
The rain fell softly against the glass windows as Amara sat quietly in the café, her fingers wrapped around a cup of coffee that had long gone cold. She wasn’t really there for the coffee
she was there to think… or maybe to forget.
It had been two years since everything fell apart.
Two years since Malik walked out of her life without a proper explanation. Two years of trying to move on, trying to convince herself that she no longer cared. But deep down, she knew the truth
some feelings don’t just disappear.
The doorbell chimed.
Amara didn’t look up at first. People came and went all the time. But then… something felt different. A strange, familiar presence.
Her heart skipped.
Slowly, she lifted her eyes
And there he was.
Malik.
Standing right at the entrance, slightly drenched from the rain, scanning the room… until his eyes met hers.
Everything froze.
The noise of the café faded. The laughter, the music, the clinking of cups gone. It was just the two of them, locked in a moment neither of them was prepared for.
Amara’s grip tightened around her cup.
Why now? she thought.
Malik hesitated for a second before walking toward her. Each step felt heavier than the last, like he was carrying all the words he never said.
When he finally stood in front of her, there was silence.
Then, softly
“Amara…”
Her name on his lips felt the same. Too familiar. Too dangerous.
She swallowed, forcing herself to stay calm.
“Why are you here, Malik?”
He looked at her, eyes filled with something she couldn’t quite read.
“Because I never stopped looking for you.”
