The girl nobody saw
The Girl Nobody Saw
Rain fell like a cruel whisper that night—cold, relentless, and uninviting.
Elara Moore hugged her backpack close to her chest as she hurried down the quiet street, her soaked sneakers slapping against the pavement. Her vision blurred—not just from the rain, but from the tears she swore she wouldn’t let fall.
“Fat. Freak. Failure.”
The words echoed in her head like a curse she couldn’t escape.
A few hours ago, she’d been the laughingstock of the entire academy. Again.
It was supposed to be a harmless sports trial—until Adrian Blackwood, the golden boy of St. Claire Academy, decided to make her his entertainment. One trip, one cruel smirk, and she’d landed face-first in the mud while the crowd howled.
And just like that, Elara Moore became the joke of the week.
She reached the bus stop and sank onto the cold bench. Her reflection in the glass mocked her—a drenched girl with frizzy hair, smudged glasses, and eyes too soft for a world that thrived on cruelty.
“Maybe they’re right,” she whispered. “Maybe I really am nobody.”
Her voice cracked. For once, there was no one around to hear it.
Or so she thought.
A sudden flash of lightning lit up the sky—and with it, she saw a figure standing across the street. A man, tall and cloaked in black, watching her. For a second, their eyes met—his glowed faintly, silver against the rain.
Her heart skipped.
When she blinked, he was gone.
“Elara…”
Her name echoed faintly, though no one was near.
She looked around, trembling. The air around her shimmered—soft, golden, alive. It felt warm, comforting… familiar. Then, without warning, her wrist burned, a sharp pain flaring where the faint scar had always been. She gasped and pulled up her sleeve.
The mark—normally pale—was glowing.
Suddenly, the ground trembled. The rain stopped midair, frozen droplets glinting like tiny crystals. Elara’s breath caught as she looked up—the entire world had stilled. Only she was moving. Only she was awake.
“What’s happening?” she whispered, voice shaking.
From behind her, that same silver voice spoke—calm, haunting, and powerful.
> “The seal is breaking, Invincible One.”
She turned around—but there was no one there.
Then the world resumed, the rain crashing down all at once. Elara fell to her knees, heart pounding. Whatever had just happened, it wasn’t a dream.
Somewhere deep inside her, something ancient had awakened.
And it was only the beginning.
