Chapter 1

1460 Words
Sirahi was sitting in the private lounge of the airport awaiting for her driver to pick her up when she got the text from her manager. She was incognito with a wig and cap. Even to the extent of wearing contacts to change her eye color and she was not wearing the makeup she had when she went on stage. She was thinking of other songs when she saw her own face plastered on the screens as they played her most recent song, almost topping the charts this year. The single was a summer beat that made her fans reminisce to summer love and being young again in their teens. That was why it had become so popular amongst the others songs but it hadn't quite made it to number one just yet. She was so close. When she received the text that her manager and best friend had the driver come around to the parking garage, she grabbed her carry on and moved to where the garage was. She tried to keep a low profile when she travelled and even though she was popular, she still had her way with disguises. No one recognized the blonde hair from the usual brown that she had it and even though she had contacts in, she wore her thick glasses to help out. Hopefully by the time she made it from the terminal to the parking garage, she wouldn't have to make a run for it without Sandra, her best friend and manager chiding her for not taking her private jet. She just enjoyed the feeling of normality amongst the constant spotlight and the feeling of being semi normal. In her life, normal wasn't a word In her family's vocabulary. She wasn't exactly human and she was a magical being in a world of fairytales and even nightmares. Where she had descended from a long line of Sirens, she knew that her power came from her voice. She just didn't know what exactly until she came of age, whenever that would be. Through Source standards she was supposed to have a partner, mate, significant other, or soulmate and not just for reproducing. In the history of their world, the Source created these members who became too powerful to be left to their own devices so they took them and split their powers into two. One going into one person and the other into another. When those two people would meet, their powers would become powerful and that was why all Source Members mated and they mated for life. Sirahi was the product of two Sirens mating and they had four more baby Sirens and that made up her history. Except they lived back in the Aegean Sea and she immigrated to the Pacific in hopes of becoming a famous singer. Four years later and that's where she was. Waiting to go home to Huntington so she could relax before she started touring. She was walking when she received a tap on her shoulder and she turned to find a stranger, a teenager grinning at her and she looked nervous. "I don't mean to be rude but are you Ayra?" The teen was playing with her fingers, her phone in her hand and she could almost hear the young girl's pulse from her her heightened senses. She then looked around in hopes no one caught on yet before she smiled back, adjusting the glasses on her face. "How did you know?" Sirahi asked as she smiled at the excited teen. The teen squealed quietly and did an excited dance as her smile grew much larger. "I'm a big fan and I like, just know it was you. Oh. My. Gosh. Wait till I tell my friends. Can I take a picture with you?" She asked and Sirahi nodded her head. "Of course." They took a selfie together before the teen looked as if she was about to cry. "Thank you so much for all your music, they just speak to me. I love you so much." She went on after saving the photo. Sirahi laughed as she thanked the young girl and she continued on, "I don't even know what to say, can I have your autograph?" She asked looking for something to write on and Sirahi laughed when she looked so flustered. "Of course!" She answered as the teen looked around but couldn't procure anything. She looked sad briefly before Sirahi said, "How about this?" She removed her ball cap and handed it over to the girl. "Something to say thank you for being a fan." The teenager had tears in her eyes as she took the ball cap and hugged it to her. "Oh. My. Freakin. Gosh." She said as she gave a smile to her. "I can't believe it." She said her bottom lip quivering. "Thank you so much. I'll never lose it." Sirahi gave her another smile before she heard her phone ringing, probably Sandra getting ready to curse her out. "I have to go now. It was nice meeting you, I'm sorry I didn't get your name?" She asked the girl and was received with a smile. "Jennifer." "Well Jennifer, it was nice to meet you. Take care." Sirahi said as she started to walk away. She was a few feet away when the young girl shouted. "I love you Ayra!" She would have froze if her feet would let her but they moved faster and others started to look her way. She recognized the look of uncertainty and then recognition as they started to move towards her and Sirahi was almost at a run as she speed walked it faster towards baggage claim. s**t. People were starting to really look at her and without the obvious baseball cap, the wig was looking too synthetic and she could hear people saying her name. "Get the car ready." Sirahi said Into the phone as she jogged a bit quicker and heard Sandra's sigh on the other end. "I would say something along the lines of I told you so, but like always I would be right. Hurry." She said and hung up the line on her. Sirahi did the Wrong thing and glanced back at the crowd, more like mob, now chasing her with their phones out trying to get pictures. s**t. Was all Sirahi thought of as she was now running. She passed Baggage claim and was heading towards the parking garage and was relieved when she saw the familiar SUV with the door open. She did a literal dive into the open door as the vehicle took off through the garage and then onto the bustling streets away from LAX. Sirahi was buckling her seatbelt into place as she settled herself in. Sandra wasn't looking at her as she stared down into her phone but she knew her friend was most likely cursing her out in her head and Sirahi enjoyed the sun that was setting as they went to her home. Jamis would have opted for a different ride, like a plane ride but one of the Teleporters in the Enforcers wanted to port him, saying it would be much quicker. He was grateful and he wasn't sure if the other man thought it would be funny to port him right by the big Hollywood sign. He didn't find it funny when he was carrying a decent sized duffel bag over his shoulder. His body hurt and once Shifters became ready to Mate, their body takes pains in not being able to mate or share their bond. It made him feel like he was being torn apart and he knew why other shifters mated early. He just so happened to be the loser who waited and went into an alcohol induced haze when the pains became too much to handle. It kind of explained why some of the females of their kind went into a mating heat, literally trying to bang anything. Jamis's stomach rolled and he hoped the symptoms weren't coming on too strong as he felt bile rise in his throat. He continued walking until he was able to fare a cab and asked the driver to take him to Hollywood so he could start his search. He was used to sleeping in cold, hard places but he never understood why humans let themselves get to such low places when he checked into a dingy motel and reconsidered staying in the woods. But it wasn't that he was afraid of being robbed, he needed his wits about him when he went in search of his mate. Being sleep deprived wouldn't help and he was tired. After serving so long with the Enforcers, he needed a break and being able to relax instead of fighting rogue Source members, this was considered a vacation. He closed his eyes and hoped the bed bugs wouldn't make a feast out of him.
