Beta Brad

“If he doesn’t treat her good, it is war.” Caleb said it was so simple, war, because his sister who did not even belong to our pack anymore, our pack members would not understand.

“He is not an evil man Mila, just immature, maybe this is the best thing that happened to them both, their pack needs a Luna.”

“But not everyone is meant to be alpha and Luna just because they are born from that linage…” I looked at him anxiously, he trusted so hard that the blood in them would help them, but I knew better, sometimes it was a curse more than a blessing, as it were to me, I was not born to be a Luna.

“You were born to be an alpha baby.” He said that and smiled warmly at me, that was the problem, I was the alpha, the alpha that everyone listened to, it was not a blessing, it was a curse. I had given anything to be a regular Luna. Anything.

“But you are not, and I will protect you, always.”

I leaned against his forehead with mine, I would protect him too, he was my everything.

I was standing on the porch by Caleb's side, holding his hand tightly as our fingers intertwined and looking at the convoy of cars coming in, I could already feel the enormous sadness that was in the air and was already beginning to regret that I had agreed to break up Melody and Brad.

I could already feel the despair echoing over me in waves as I hugged Caleb's hand harder, he could feel it too, but not at all in the same way I did when he looked at me and smiled faintly, I know he started to regret it, but it was too late, we had made a choice and now we simply had to take care of it.

“She will understand later, they both will…” I nodded heavily at his words, he was right so why did it feel so damn wrong when we stood here and broke up two wolves who loved each other?

“She won’t love him anymore when the bond snaps in, I know I didn’t.” I stopped and looked at him as he stood staring out at the convoy motionless, proud, an alpha.

“Cay?” I wanted to know more, had he loved another girl?! I looked at him stressed but he didn’t look back, so it was true…. I didn’t know how I would feel, hurt was the first thing that came to mind, and stupid because I had never known about it before, he was my first and only love, ever.

“don’t think about it more Luna, she is no one now, I just love you baby.” I just sneered at him in my mind, who the hell was she then?! I knew it was not time for me to get pissed, but before this day was over, he would tell the hell who it was…

“It won’t change anything Emilia, even if you know her name.” He said it calmly like it did not crush me into what we were, I had naively thought I was the only one he had made love to, i***t.

“Alpha Victor.” I did not have time to think anymore when alpha got out of the black car and we both politely bowed our heads this time, even though it was barely visible on Caleb who refused to bow to anyone if he had any say in it.

After them Brad stepped out, I remembered him, he was attractive, he looked like someone who was surfing, with blond hair and light grey eyes and he looked at us with hatred in, I understood him when I met the young eyes who did not understand why we tore him from his wife, I hated every second of it.

His hand holding Melody’s who came out last and she was furious, beyond all doubt, if I ever doubted that she and Caleb were siblings it was gone. she looked like him when she was pissed, Caleb on the other hand was stiff and distancing, much like he has been to me and everyone else from the beginning.

“Sister.” He said it politely as she smiled scornfully and to my surprise spat in his face and would have almost succeeded if Brad had not pulled her back at the last second, not because he had minded her doing it, more because it was disrespectful, and his blood called upon him.

“you are not my brother, I'm disowning you! do you hear me!? your f*****g killer, you marked our cousin, f****d her having a f*****g inbreed to be the next alpha and I can’t be with the man I love!?” she shouted it straight out to everyone who wanted to hear and I said nothing, what could I say right now, outwardly we were cousins, because it was the safest path right now, for me and the baby.

“She will understand alpha…” I said the comforting to the upset Alpha Victor who suffered just as much, he could barely stand to see her in Brad's arms, crying, begging to be with her husband, and thought we were monsters like tore them apart.

“Brad Johnson, do you swear allegiance to the golden moon clan until the day you die?” Caleb sounded so formal, he did not intend to waste any more time trying to convince any of them that this was the right choice, he just decided over their heads, making me shiver, just like Terrence would have done.

“I swear.” He said it hard and heavy when the bond between him and the blood moon pack disappeared and Caleb immediately started talking to him via the link, what he expected from him, who he would report to and I looked at him, he was crushed with the light grey eyes dead, I prayed to the goddess that this was right, that all this was worth it.

“Release my Luna now Beta.” Alpha Victor was already in fight mode over Brad holding his mate, low and scary like he would tear him to pieces now that there was not even a packing band between them, Brad was nothing to him now.

Both Melody and Brad looked shocked at alpha who had lost patience and pushed Brad away towards me and Caleb who sneered angry at him, he was alpha over our clan and now that Brad was in it, even though it was three minutes ago so was he prepared to defend his pack, that was his role.

That’s how this society was build.

“Brad! Don’t let him take me, please!” Melody tore herself free from Victor who had drawn her in to him and threw herself into the arms of the now furious Brad who realized why he had to leave his pack, betrayed by his old alpha.

“Release her now!” Alpha Victor had got his fangs out, threatened to go full wolf on us and Caleb growled at the threatening Alpha, Mark and Tony was here to, ready to attack at Calebs signal.

 I put my hand on Brad's and he watched in amazement as I calmed him down, made him not attack the alpha, it was not his job, we had our own alpha here.

“Let her go Beta…” I was linking him still panting like crazy trying to decide what to do before he let her go reluctantly and just stared at me and not at Melody as I smiled sadly that I used my own strengths against him, my Luna abilities to influence, and a certain part of my alpha who could make anyone obey.

“Touch my beta again Victor and I will teach you whose property you are on.” Caleb was full alpha now eyes all yellow and the dark deep voice of the alpha wolf growling against his own one.

 it was super-hot, and I tried not to smile like an i***t at him where we were standing, it was a serious situation we were in, it was the wrong time for me to think about s*x, again.

He did not answer at all just growled low in response and I growled back the surprise of both guys, but I was an alpha and I responded to threats in the same way as my husband, aggressively.

“Remember your promise alpha.” Caleb said it via the link when Victor nodded quickly and grabbed the arm of the crying Melody, I did not like this at all, when they got into the car and started to roll out from the big, rounded driveway, Melody’s crying cutting into me all the way into the heart.

“Brad looked at me crushed now that I had let go of his arm and I felt like the worst Luna in the whole world who could not even comfort one in my own pack, I looked at him resignedly, I wished that this hadn’t happened, that there could have been a better solution to all this.

“Why?” He looked at Caleb now who did not answer, and I showed him into the house, I did not want to answer either, he deserved an answer, Cay? I didn’t want to say that he had to do it when he sighed and turned to the destroyed Beta that stood in front of us.

“She was never yours.” He said it merciless, and I felt in my heart what Brad was feeling, it was incredibly painful, like breaking down from within hearing what my mate just said, it was crushing me.

“Come with me Beta…” I said it softly as we went in before Caleb who was standing and staring at the distant convoy, he was still angry that alpha Victor had been aggressive towards his beta, just like that, the alliances between us, we were loyal to each other, that's how we survived, even Brad felt it even though he was pissed, the bond between our pack that had already begun to form.

We went inside together, and I was so sad about what had happened when we entered the hall and I looked up when something had changed in the air, like the crushing sadness was suddenly lifted from me, the air easier to breathe again.

 I looked up and followed Brad's eyes staring at one of the delta girls who was standing further away and watering the flowers I had gotten into the house, and I looked at him in amazement and stared at the sweet girl with brown curly hair and green eyes.

She was new here, around twenty years old, had come in after being rescued by one of our warriors who encountered a group of kidn*pped women and brought them here when their own smaller clan was killed, just a small village in the middle of nowhere.

“I think her name is Katelynn.” I said it much calmer now that he was still staring at her and mumbling her name like he had never heard any more beautiful sound in his whole life and I called her when she looked up and smiled at me before she dropped the jug of water she was holding when she saw Brad, oh thank the goddess, thank you so much.

“I think you just found your mate Beta Brad.” I said it warmly when he looked at me like he did not understand at all, but I did, all the pain was gone in him, nothing was left of Melody in him, she was the only one who existed for him now, I told him to go to her and I watched amusedly as they both walked gently towards each other and stared into their eyes like they were crazy before they took each other's hands and he pulled her into his arms quickly and fully aware that they were meant for each other when Caleb came up by my side and put his arm around me.

he had seen them now with and he was calmer, same as me where we stood and looked at the newfound couple in front of us further away.

“The goddess was right again.” he said that and laughed when they kissed each other and I widened my eyes, that was fast, not even me and Caleb had advanced so fast after we saw each other the first time.

“We had more obstacles between us, nothing stands between them… but you were marked and not a virgin anymore before the first night Mila, don’t forget that…” his voice was darker now when I shuddered and giggled, I guess he was right about that part.

“I'd never let you go, Mila, never.” He looked at me now and I nodded, I knew, we still had obstacles between us, but we were together, we had our child, the rest did not matter anymore.

“I give it before the evening is over that they are mated…” he said it amused and drew me closer and I snorted playfully, the evening? I gave it within the next twenty minutes.

“I'm so happy, that it worked out, it would have been hard to see him suffer for something that was not even his choice…” I was really relieved, but it would be worse for Melody, she did not turn years old yet, it was around two months left, she would suffer most of all until then, I hoped alpha Victor had patience with her, otherwise this could end badly.

“I will keep an eye on him, she is still my sister, even if she insults my wife and my child.” he said it annoyed as I sighed and pulled my arms around his waist as we looked at the two strangers who were already on their way somewhere to be alone, I was right, twenty minutes.

“She was angry, overwhelmed, I understand her, I have been called worse things as a delta” I said it neutrally when he got angry again that someone had been stupid towards me, even when he knew that he would have been acting just the same towards me, and he did for the record.

“Never, I would have known you, even if we were not eighteen, you can feel your partner anyway, I have no doubt that if I had seen you before I would have known!”

“Sure…” I just laughed at his convincing speech, he almost believed himself, he had been in love with someone else and I had not even existed in his world if the matebond hadn’t kicked in between us.

“Let it go Luna, I have said that she no longer exists in my eyes, not since I saw you.” I glanced at him from the now missing couple, I believed him of course but I had begun to understand that there were more reasons than we were cousins that I was not allowed to go to him the same night I had come to the wedding.

He looked guilty now, aha! I was almost hurt, so it was one of the beta girls who was around him, I looked way too confident for his likes, but I ignored it.

“She is not here anymore. I made sure she left, it would have been too hard for her to see me with you, all the time…” he looked sad suddenly like he was sad because she was hurt. I was not, I was glad she was gone.

“Luna?” He looked at me almost shocked, like I liked that a female he had been in love with hung around him, my wolf had torn her to pieces, and he knew I was fully capable of doing so.

“Baby… you are incredibly sexy when you are jealous…” he said hoarsely when my eyes were golden green now, he was mine and no one else's. I was the only one and everyone who tried would die.

“You are the Luna, the only one for me…” he pushed his lips over my neck, open where anyone could see when I giggled again, he was the only one who could make me do it when a low sound came out his throat and I pulled him closer and looked into his yellow eyes that was craving me, no matter how many times we had done it, he still wanted more.

“On top?” I said purring when he nodded and picked me up in my arms and carried me laughing through the large hall, up to our bedroom.
