TRUTH OR DARE. Chapter 1. In every college, there are the nerds, the party animals, the drunkards, the church goers, the slayers, the ones who don't attend classes, the ones who are always early in all the classes, the ones who pretend to be holier than thou, the sluts, the players, etcetera etcetera. There are also the focused students and the ones who have lost all hope in life. Then there's me!! I don't know where I belong. I don't know which category best suits me. What I do know is, I like partying the same way I love studying. I might have been forced to study medicine but I have fallen in love with the course. Another thing, I love having fun. I am a strong believer of you only live once. So, if you only live once, why live a boring life? I also love men. Wink!! Not in the way you're perverted mind is tempted to think, but you know, they are a great company and a kiss here and there doesn't hurt. Many call me a flirt. I don't care. I will let you decide which category best suits me. All I know is that I am not those who pretend to be holier than thou. After committing myself to studying every night for a week straight, and getting the most difficult pathology monthly test, I deserve some whiskey. Some lecturers can be heartless. Who gives his students a test on a Friday evening?? "Aren't you going to Carson's birthday party?" Ava asks joining me in my bedroom. "I'd rather catch a flu!" "I get you hate him but it's going to be fun." "Define fun!?" I ask picking on my well manicured nails. "Elise!" That's gets my attention. "She is going to be there?" "Yup!" she answers making sure to pop the 'P' "How do you know this?" "A little birdie told me." "Who told you, Ava?" I press. "Can't tell. But you should go. You're body needs some alcohol and a good party." "Wait... Something is different with you today." She tenses. "What? I'm fine!" "You never push me to go to a party. You are always against them. You always say they are a waste of time and they promote immorality!" Yes! She says that. "Uhm, I guess I wasn't used to such parties but now I am. I know you love partying so, who am I to stop you." I can smell the lie in her explanation. "Wow! Hold on. Ava. Is this really you? This is a first!" I comment honestly. Ava is my big cousin, my best friend and my room mate. The two of us are the complete opposites. For one, she hates parties and that's a part of my life. She dresses like a nun and that can never be me. She is always the organized one and the most focused between the two of us. She loves cooking and I can't stand being in the kitchen for more than two minutes. Actually, one minute. There are a few things we have in common though. Like loving food and what we came to college to study; Medicine. Hating Elise too!! "Elise is back. You two have a score to settle." Ava is not one to advocate violence but here she is, hyping me to go to Carson's party because his ex girlfriend, who is also my mortal enemy will be there. "Because of her! I am going to the party. Now go, I have to shower and change." She turns to leave but I call her. "I still need to know why you are so persistent on me going to the party. Be ready with the answers when I get back Ava!" She smiles and walks out, locking the door behind her. ***** Red tumblers! Alcohol smell! Drunk college students! Make outs in the hallway! Typical college party. Somewhere I feel like I belong. Weird? I know! I grab a tumbler and pour myself some strong tequilla before starting my mission: To find that Elise of a girl. She pulled out the worst prank on me three months ago before transferring to a new college miles away from here. Her family moved and she had to change schools, so I've been told. The prank? She pulled away a sit I wanted to occupy in the school cafeteria and I fell flat on my butt, all the food I was carrying spilling all over me. There were hundreds of students in the cafeteria and to say that I was embarrassed would be an understatement. She laughed, and apologized. Saying that it was an honest accident. I have never recovered from the incident and my plan to make her pay is still on. She must pay!! "Hey Alexa! You came!" Nolan's voice comes from somewhere behind me and I don't even bother to turn. He is the reason I am holding this grudge on Elise. Nolan is my ex boyfriend and the guy Elise was head over heels in love with. "Alexa! I'm talking to you." "Don't care!" I answer coldly. But then, he is Carson's best friend. You know what that means? He knows where Carson is and Elsie is definitely with him. I still think she is in love with him. What she felt for Nolan was an infatuation. She broke up with Carson because she claimed to love Nolan and I broke up with Nolan because she was taking her pranks on me way too far. That's so messed up if you ask me. "You just got here?" This time I answer nicely. "Yeah. Where are the rest?" "In the backyard. You should actually come with me." Before I can answer, he is already pulling my hand. We bump into a few drunk people on our way to them. Others making out in the hallway. "Look who is here." Elise is the first one to notice me. Her voice filled with sarcasm. "The queen of dares." Mela compliments. Okay, I don't know if that's a compliment, but Mela is my friend so I'll take it as that. She is more of my partying partner. "Happy birthday Carson. I didn't bring a gift, sorry!" He just nods. What he loves most is girls and I couldn't get him one. "You didn't tell me you will be coming Mela." I complain taking a seat next to her. "I lost my phone on my way from school earlier but luckily, I met with Ava and convinced her to talk you into coming to the party." Now I get it. It definitely had to be her who sent Ava. See, Mela never takes a 'no' for an answer and that's probably why Ava insisted so much on me coming to this party. There are six of us now. The birthday boy, his shadow Billy and Nolan. We call Billy his shadow because he is always where Carson is. Like a bodyguard. Like he is paid for it. Then there's Elise, Mela and I. "We were playing a game Alexa!" That's Elise. "What game?" "Truth or Dare." No college party is complete without this game. "Fine by me." "So, I'm gonna ask you next." "Why me?" "Because they call you the queen of dares. Let's see just how much you can handle. Truth or dare?" "Definitely dare!" Everyone else is watching our little, not-so-fun conversation. I'm sure they are all waiting for us to explode and start fighting but that's not what brought me here. I have her medicine with me but for later. I need to have fun now. "Anyone with a dare for her?" She asks and all the four of them shake their heads. "Fine! Here is my dare for you miss Alexa Powers. I dare you to date Carson for two weeks, make sure he falls in love with you by the time two weeks is over and get married at the end of the two weeks." "What?" He is the first to speak. This is insane. "Are you crazy? Get married? They are still in college bitch." Mela tells her in my defense. "Carson will be done with college in a matter of weeks. Besides, It's a dare!" She answers her in a smirk. "I am twenty. Just twenty years old woman. I have a whole f*****g two years before I'm done with college. I'm not going to get married this young! Especially not to Carson." "You're chickening out?" "This is a game Elise. Don't give such extreme dares!" Nolan defends me. "Yet they call her the queen of dares!" She answers him in a sneer. I know what I'm about to say is stupid and impulsive, but I can't lose to her. Never!! "I'll do it!" "What?" All of them shout accept Elise of course. "I said I'll do it!"
