Chapter 1:
I've been sitting here trying to get past this writer's block. Trying to find anything.
Anything at all to write about.Ugh, Why? Why after all of the wonderful action-packed
books I've given to my publishing house? Why would they request this of me? My eyes
glance at the card I received attached to my latest book.
" Teine, great job as usual. Another winner to add to your pile. For this next one; We'd
like to see something that would bring in more female readers… more hearts and
romance. Less guns and blood.. think, LOVE…Hopefully, you can handle this."
Think LOVE.. how do I even figure out what that means? I don't know anything about love
and I haven't felt the need to care too much. Are they testing my limits? Pushing my
chair back I stand up and stretch. I am a great writer. I have nothing to prove to them.
Looking around I was surrounded by posters and books.. hundreds of other items that
proved it. I am a dam good writer. However, I'm also competitive as hell, and someone
saying," .. Hopefully, you can handle this." After asking me to complete a new project. Is
a blatant challenge to my skills.
Sitting back down I start to type. Oh, you want romance? Well, here it comes.
"Ding!.." Pulling the last sheet through the typewriter I look over my work. Beautiful!
Only a typewriter can give a finished book that last magic touch. There's just something about pounding those keys and hearing that.." ding!" At the end of the page. Psssh,
Romance. I got this. Hell, this might even be my best book yet. I'll call it, " The Crush"
"The Crush" I had to be honest.. it was a masterpiece. I almost felt like it was
something I'd lived through before.
Standing up I shake out an hour and a half of sitting next to my trusty friend the
typewriter. Finishing a book always gave me so much energy. I feel the need to get a
fresh chilled soda beverage. Call it a treat in a treat.. but I'm all for it. Running down my
driveway I notice how beautiful the day is. Growing up in Utah has its perks. The weather
and beauty of each season are high on the list.
It's truly a gorgeous day. I decided walking to Bjs gas station; Down the street from
my house was a good idea.
I mean what could go wrong on this day?
What could go wrong indeed??
