Elaris's POV By the middle of the week, I had finally stopped feeling like the new girl. Not completely. There were still moments when I reached for the wrong shelf or forgot which register carried extra receipt rolls, but each day felt a little easier than the last. Customers had started recognizing me. Some smiled. Some greeted me before I had the chance to greet them first. One elderly gentleman insisted on joining my checkout line every morning because, according to him, I "looked less grumpy than everyone else." It was... nice. Normal.
