The Princess

“What will become of us?”

“What do you mean?”

“After whatever happens, what will it mean for us? You eventually choosing Malenia? You marrying the princess? Will we just go back to being friends or are we actually going to be something?”

“I don’t know, Summer. I’m all confused. I’m not in love with the princess. I love you and I think I’m starting to fall for Malenia. I’m trying to figure out what to do but there is so much going on in my mind that I think I might lose it.”

“Well, when you figure it out, come find me. You know where I’ll be. No matter who you choose, I’ll still love you. Like I always have. It won’t change.” She kissed me again and turned to leave but I grabbed her wrist. “Please. Don’t go.”

“Eryc, you and I both know I can’t stay. As much as I want to, you know it can’t happen.”

“Please. Just a little longer. I don’t want to be alone. You’re the only friend I have.”

“Eryc.”

“Please?” She just looked at me. We both knew this was risky but I didn’t care. I needed to be near Summer. I had to be. My heart ached to hold her. To not let her go. I wanted Summer but, then again, I also wanted Malenia. Summer was my best friend and Malenia was just a girl I have been stalking for years. I’ve always been close to Summer. Malenia, I've watched her from feet away. Never knowing who she truly was. I knew everything about Summer.
