Palestine is a land in the Middle East. It is very special to many people, especially Muslims, Christians, and Jews. It is home to one of the holiest cities in the world—Jerusalem, which is called Al-Quds in Arabic. Inside Jerusalem is a very beautiful and sacred place called Masjid Al-Aqsa, the third holiest mosque in Islam.Palestine is not just a land with buildings and history—it is also a place where millions of families, children, mothers, fathers, teachers, and grandparents live. They have homes, schools, shops, gardens, and dreams—just like people anywhere else in the worldBut sadly, for many years now, the people of Palestine have been hurt, pushed out of their homes, and made to live in fear. This has caused pain and suffering, especially for children. It is important to understand this so we can feel their pain, pray for them, and help in any way we can.A long time ago, Palestine was a peaceful land where many people lived. But then, many years ago—more than 75 years ago—some people came and took away much of the land. They made their own country called Israel, and many Palestinians were forced to leave their homes. Those who stayed were treated unfairly and harshly. Some lived in places called Gaza and the West Bank.Over time, life became harder for the Palestinian people. They were told where they could or couldn’t go, even in their own land. Their houses were destroyed. Checkpoints were built to stop them from moving freely. Many children couldn’t go to school safely. Bombs were dropped, walls were built, and families were broken apart.Even today, there are children in Gaza who wake up to the sound of planes and bombs instead of birds. Many live in tents or broken buildings. Some have lost their parents, their toys, their schools—even their lives.
Why Does It Hurt So Much?
Imagine if someone came to your house and told you to leave and never come back. Imagine if your school was closed because of danger. Imagine if your friends got hurt just for walking outside. That is how many children in Palestine feel every single day.
They want to go to school, laugh, play, and dream—just like you do. But they live in a place where they are often not safe, where clean water is hard to find, and where food is sometimes not enough.
It hurts because no one should have to live in fear, and every child deserves a peaceful, happy life.
What Do the Children in Palestine Say?
Many children in Palestine speak about their pain with strong hearts. Some say:
"I just want to go to school without being scared."
"I miss my brother who died in a bombing."
"We don’t have toys anymore, but I play with stones."
"I wish people would hear our voices."
These children have the same hearts as you. They laugh, cry, love their families, and have favorite colors and dreams. But because of the war, occupation, and unfair treatment, their lives are full of fear and sadness.
Why Should We Care?
We should care because these are our brothers and sisters in humanity. As Muslims, we believe that when one part of the body is in pain, the whole body feels it. This means if one person suffers, we all feel it.
Even if we live far away, our hearts can still connect to the hearts of the children in Palestine. Allah loves those who care for the oppressed and the weak.
Our Prophet Muhammad ď·ş said:
“The believers are like one body; when one part hurts, the whole body hurts.”
How Can We Help?
You might think: “I’m just a kid. What can I do?”
But the truth is: you can do a lot!
1. Make Dua (Prayer)
The most powerful thing you can do is to pray for Palestine. Allah hears your duas, especially when they come from a pure heart. Some simple duas you can make:
“Ya Allah, protect the children of Palestine.”
“Ya Allah, bring peace to Gaza.”
“Ya Allah, give strength and patience to the families suffering.”
“Ya Allah, grant Jannah to the people who lost their lives.”
You can make dua after salah, before sleeping, or whenever you remember.
Learn and Talk About Palestine
Learn the truth. Ask your parents, teachers, or older siblings to tell you more about Palestine. Read age-appropriate books or watch simple videos that explain what’s happening.
When you understand better, you can talk to your friends or make a little speech in school to raise awareness.
You could even draw posters, make cards, or write letters for awareness campaigns.
Give Charity (Sadaqah and Donations)
Even if you don’t have much money, you can still help. Save a few coins every day in a Palestine jar. When it fills up, ask your parents to donate it to trusted organizations helping Palestinians.
Some groups send food, medicine, clothes, or help rebuild homes and hospitals.
You can also ask others to donate on your birthday or after a family dinner.
Remember, no amount is too small in the eyes of Allah.
Speak Up
If your school allows, you can:
Do a presentation
Wear badges or stickers
Write poems or stories
Join peaceful walks or awareness days
Let your voice be heard in peaceful and respectful ways.
What Can Adults Learn from You?
Sometimes adults get busy, but when they see children speaking from their hearts, they stop and listen. You can remind adults to care, to make dua, and to donate. You can ask your family to talk about Palestine over dinner, or to include it in their prayers.
Your voice matters, no matter how young you are.
What Does the Qur’an Say About Justice?
Allah tells us in the Qur’an to stand for truth and protect the weak.
“O you who believe! Be upright for Allah, bearers of witness with justice…”
(Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:8)
Helping Palestine is helping justice. You’re standing up for what is right.
What About Masjid Al-Aqsa?
Masjid Al-Aqsa is in Palestine. It is one of the most special places in Islam. Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was taken there on the Night Journey (Isra and Mi’raj) before going to the heavens.
It is the first qiblah (direction of prayer) Muslims ever faced before Kaaba.
The people of Palestine are protecting Masjid Al-Aqsa, even when it puts them in danger. They are keeping it safe for the whole Muslim Ummah.
So when we support Palestine, we are also protecting this sacred place.
Some Beautiful Things About Palestine
Even though life is hard, Palestine is full of beauty:
Families still love one another deeply.
People are patient and kind.
Children smile even through hardship.
The olive trees, hills, and masjids are breathtaking.
The people of Palestine say “Alhamdulillah” (Praise be to Allah) even when they have so little.
They teach the world what courage looks like.
How Palestine Teaches Us to Be Grateful
When we hear their stories, we learn to:
Be thankful for our food.
Thank Allah for our parents and homes.
Not waste water or electricity.
Be kind to others.
Help when we can.
Palestine teaches us that life is a gift, and we must use our blessings to help others.
A Letter You Can Say to a Palestinian Child (Just in Your Heart)
"Dear brother or sister in Palestine,
I may be far away, but I am thinking of you.
I pray for you every day.
I wish I could send you my toys, my food, my hugs.
You are strong. You are brave.
I hope the world sees your pain.
You are not alone.
I will tell others about you.
May Allah give you safety and happiness. Ameen
