“I’d really rather not wait,” Fenris rumbled, stepping up over onto the bed and approaching me. I squeaked and dashed back to the other side. Fenris sighed, sounding almost amused as he edged back down. One hand brushed my hip, and I squealed, managing to squirm away before he could get a real good hold of me. “You know I like the chase,” he said, and I almost rolled my eyes. “Stop,” I said, holding out a hand. To my surprise, he did, his hands falling to his side. He didn’t say anything, but I knew the ball was now in my court. “You almost killed me out there, Fenris.” All mirth disappeared from his face and Fenris had gone as pale as I’d ever seen him. This time, when his eyes raked me up and down, it was concern written all over his handsome features, not lust. “What happened?”
