I snorted, trying not to be amused that was where Fenris thought I’d draw the line on his sanity. “Look, I have seen and heard a lot of things I’d thought were impossible if you’d asked me a month ago,” I replied, shaking my head. “But I want to learn. I certainly don’t want to get into another situation like this.”
If I’d just known more, I wouldn’t have been so freaked out by Piers’ story. Even if it just spooked me, I’d probably have been able to get ahold of myself before anxiety took off with my head and my heart.
Fenris frowned, looking at me. For a moment, I thought he might start talking, but then… silence.
It was my turn to place a hand on his knee instead. “Okay. Why don’t we start with something small? Why would people even think the Lunar Lord would sacrifice his bride?”
