I glanced around, hoping someone would see me on the phone and jerk it away. I didn’t even care if they threw me out at this point — but no one seemed to notice. It was like they were all in a daze…or under a spell. The knot in my throat grew thicker, and I found myself struggling to breathe.

Normally, a hospital would be the right place to melt down with so many medical professionals afoot — but certainly not this hospital. “Who is this?” I demanded as I tried to shake off the edge in my voice.
