ChapterOne
The Mark Of Fate. As the full moon rested on the thick forest, there was a strong glow coming through the trees penetrating stare. The drake night bear the fragrance of the moist ground of the earth, which was always a comfort for kora but that tonight seem to be like a Joke to her. Kora squatted at the brink of the creek, her fingers waver as they flutter over the water surface. She gazed back at herself, her beautiful, powerful golden eyes burning like a wild fire, she wasn’t sure if she could control how she felt. Today was the night she had been convened to Raymond’s swift ceremony announcements before the pack ensue into a big celebration. You could hear the loud echo from a far distance, their joy unheeding to the storm Brewing inside her. Because her heart belonged to someone else. Her heart pounded as you heard a swishing in the trees. She perceived a Familia scent before the person could come out from the darkness. She could perceive unquestionably it was him The one she longed for “ Kieran” As his drak beautiful radiant Skin glow has he stepped into the moonlight, his hypothetical hazel eyes met hers, both of them were dumbfounded as they couldn’t speak. “ why are you here” she whispered eventually as she unconsciously walked towards him. “ you know what I’m here for,the truth” has his voice remained unchanging, however the anxiety in his jaw failed him. “ Tell me what I’m hearing is not true. I will only believe the words that comes out from your mouth” I didn’t have any say in this’ as Kora throat rigidified Shaking his head, kieran tells Kora “you know you have a choice right” She wanted to convince herself that she had a choice but the truth is how could she believe that, the fate of her pack rest on her shoulders. She had been tied a long time ago to a vow she hardly understood. At the age of four, her mother whispered to her once:" The Mark of fate connect us, child. Your union is inscribed in the stars. A union not with Kieran but with Raymond . Kora fingers inadvertently brushed over her wrist where the delicate birthmark lay. when she was young she was told about the blessing that comes with the mark. But tonight it felt like a curse. Kieran's attention shifted to her wrist, and his expression darkened.“that mark Its glowing” Kora throat tightened with breath, as she pulled her hand back but it was too late.A gentle glow surged through the mark, warming her veins. it has never happened before. Kieran's face hardened. “ Do you know what this means? “ A chill ran through her veins. “No” His jaw clenched. “ This means you are not only bond to your pack but something greater, something dangerous.” Before she could figure out what he meant, a deep growl echoed through the trees, Kora turned pale, her stomach twisting. A thick shadow appeared in the forest Tall , broad, his eyes burned with hardly restrained wrath, Raymond; “You lied to me” he said calmly. You took an oath before the the pack, before the elders and sworn yourself to me. His eyes brandish as he looks at Kora “ And yet” here you are with him. Kora walked forward. Raymond, please “ I don’t need your excuses,”he cuts in, voice like ice. “ all I need is the truth” his gaze locked into her wrist where the faint shimmer of the mark lingered. His face paled, twisted in realization. He clenched into his fists.” It’s you” Kora's heartbeat thundered in her ears.” What?” “ the prophecy,” the one the Elders feared , The mark of fate, it belongs to you.” Said Raymond. Her blood ran cold. The stories she had been told by her mother whispers of a wolf born with the mark that could either unite the pack or destroy them. it had never felt so real. But now, standing under Raymond accusing stare and Kieran guarded gaze, she finally grasped the truth. She was the wolf in the prophecy. The night was split by a sound before she could react. A cry that is terrifying and unsettling. Then another, and another. Not from her pack, not from kieran From something else. The forest became still. Even Raymond rage was temporarily forgotten as they turned towards the sound. The air thickened, The scent of blood tainted the wind. Kora's intuition shouted "danger." A c***k of twigs, the rustling of branches, then movement. Figures emerged from the trees, not wolves, not men, something else entirely. They were towering, and their bodies twisted in unusual ways. Their eyes flashed a deep, unnatural red, brimming with hunger. Their mouths widened into sharp-toothed grins, claws were long and jagged. Kora's chest tightened with chilly horror.” What are they?” Kora whispered. Raymond’s faced darkened. “The Morvails” Kieran inhaled sharply, his confidence wavering. “That’s impossible. the Elders said they where only myths. Low giggles rippled through the creatures. The tallest of them stepped forward, its form hardly resembling that of a human or a wolf.It tilted its head, locking eyes with Kora. “Found you” the creature said. Kora’s breath hitched. They weren’t just there, they were here hunting for her. The Morvails lunged. It all happened at once. With no time to think, Kieran quickly grabbed Kora, yanking her by her back as the creature slashed through the air, barely missing her throat. Raymond shifted in a heartbeat, transforming into a gigantic midnight black wolf. His fangs were bared as he pounced at the creature. But the Morvails were faster. One of the creatures caught Raymond in mid-air, tossing him against a tree. He collapsed on the ground after letting out a piercing yelp. Kora’s mind screamed at her to move, to fight, but the fear in her held her in a place. Kora’s eyes gleaming with something dark as the Morvails leader walked her forward. “You don’t even know who you are, do you” ? it whispered. Kora’s heart pounding uncontrollably “You are the key to what we have been waiting for”, it continued, ”and we are here to claim you.” A deep, guttural growl escaped Kiran as he tried to protect Kora from the . Morvails “Over my dead body” said Kieran The Morvails grinned “ it is either you come with us or we take you with force” More wolves split through the night, this time in the direction of kora’s village. the pack had the commotion from afar and started heading toward them But would they make it in time ? The Morvails lunged again, and this time, Kora didn’t have time to run.
