Chapter 13: Memories of the past...

Mr. Daniel Williams, Jamie's boss rest his body on his swivel chair, thinking about the conversation that they had with Franz a while ago. In his chair, he close his eyes and take a deep breath for all the things that happened in the past, back to him once again...

Daniel is an epitome of a man who is a dream man of all the girls in his days, he was a Varsity player in Michigan University while Jessica Reynolds is a girl who nobody take a glance because she is just a common girl. But she is a scholar because of her determination to study, she is always on top of the class, her family at that time is in what we called middle class. Jessica's mother works in a fast food chain while his father is a welder.

Jessica and Daniel both went in the same College School, so, they somewhat familiar to each other. There are some coincidences that they unexpectedly meet but of course its just that. Daniel is a popular basketball player in the University, and he mostly of course hangouts with the students in his league, he became the most valuable player in his school and gained popularity in short he is a campus crush.

Jessica somewhat always a timid person and of course she has her own league of friends although she came from a family in a mid class she strive hard to have a good grades and reap that as a top honors. She didn't expect that sophomore year will change her life and will shake her world upside down.

Michigan University celebrate its foundation day, and Jessica is a member of Quiz bee guild in the school while Daniel is the captain, he is in the middle of his try-outs when Jessica and her friends walking and talking about the upcoming foundation day. When a ball hit Jessica's head, and they were all shocked by the incident. Jessica's face was really so shy and embarrassed to what happen to her a while ago, and as a man he approach her to say, “Sorry!.” She saw the man, it was none other than Daniel Williams.

“ I'm sorry....” Daniel said in sincere tone.

“ Yeah right!” says Jessica, she is furious! She touch the place was it hurts.

“I really don, 't mean it...”

“ You know what! Your sorry can't do anything... The damage is done.” she said then she turned around.

Which leave Daniel speechless with her attitude, and it catches his attention, he never got embarrassed in his entire life, and it's a new thing for him to experience that to one person, and that's the girl in the sophomore year... A little demon.. He told himself and he could only shrugged the idea.

“Let’s go bro!” David said..

David Lang ford is his best friend since childhood. David is a basketball player like him and become his body. They are always partners in crime. Especially when they hang out at night.

Daniels mom is always strict on him, it is because he's an only child, so, he is always doted or pampered. That is why he develop his rebellious side. He feels that he has no freedom, all of his whereabouts must be reported to his mom.

“David, who's that girl?” he ask.

“Don't have any idea, why?” David replied

“ I need to know everything about her... I hurt her, so, I need to compensate her...” I said with interested look on my face...

“I don, 't think she want that... Have you seen the way she looked at you?! Not now bro...” He stop on his tracks.

“So when will I do that, then?”

“Give her space , she' s angry at you now...” David told him.

As that moment of flashback Daniel realized all that happen in the past was all his fault, he became stupid to believe in all of his mothers lies... He waste a lot of time because of his pride and ego...

He remember that time when he first met Jessica Reynolds, Jamie's mom... And how jerk he is that he leave them just like that... Things will be clearer...

That curiosity of Daniel to Jessica drove him to know more about her. He learn that she is a top student of the sophomore class, member of the journalist organization and quiz bee member somehow finds her interesting and since he will be graduating this year, he finds it is ok to have relationship now.

Just to gain experience too, Jessica's feature is not so because she never used sexy dresses like a girl like her usually wore, but she has a unique beauty in and out... She is into loose t-shirt, jeans and rubber shoes.

She never bothered to make herself use something that will attract opposite s*x. She is focused in her studies and to make her parents proud since they are working hard for her future and to give her of a better life... Daniel tried his best to approach Jessica and to know her more.

He even asks David for help just to know her and to date her... Even Jessica cannot believe that the campus crush has an intention of making friends with her, the fact that she is nothing compared to all the cheer squad who has crush on him...

But he became persistent and persevere with all the hiding and shaming Jessica did to him, little by little he is making a place deep down her heart... And that's the start of Jessica Reynolds life changing experience in love and life... From peaceful to bustling as noises... David became the bridge of their love. They became boyfriend and girlfriend since that encounter.

David as a witness of their loves story, he never wants anything but to see that his friend found his true love and happiness. Jessica and Daniel became so close that as if no one could separate them. Daniel on the other hand was melting inside because Jessica is not just a girl he encounter at school but a girl that completed his boring life. He spend his whole life doing what his parents ask him to do and this time he want to follow his heart...

They're relationship is smooth sailing for nearly a year when Daniel nearly finish his senior year. His mom decided to make him work at their headquarters in LA, Daniel's family is a businessman in Beacon, as an only heir, they need to follow their traditions, and that is to train him in the headquarters for him to master the industry.. Daniel didn't want it, but he had to follow what his parents want even though it's against his will.

Daniel can't leave her just like that, so he married her without his parents’ consent. He and Jessica follow their hearts since they love each other.

And because they are already married Daniel decided to take Jessica in their house and tell them the truth. And a hope that they will accept and love her since they are already legally married but Mrs. Williams a schemed and decisive as she was she never show any disagreement in his son but deep inside her, she have a plan to make Jessica leave his son... Until the time has come for Daniel to go to LA.

It's the start for Jessica's sufferings.. Jessica didn't know that Daniel's mom was planning something to get her out of their house. Since Daniel's departure she heard nothing from him, all of his phone calls were not given to her. It took weeks, and months that she have been deprived of talking to her husband, she can't do anything because Mrs. Williams word is a law in the house.

It took a few months until Jessica make a way to approach David, and she pleaded for the latter to call him by his cellphone so that she can talk to him.. And for once she became more tolerant for her in laws, at least she can talk to him even just for a while.

Until Daniel lost connection to her... Jessica didn't know what happened at that time... Even though Jessica feels that Daniels mom does not accept her, she still became silent because she has a lot of trusts and love for Daniel, she hopes that his understanding will be broadened.

Mrs. Williams sends pictures to Daniel, a picture when Jessica approach David to ask help when she can't talk to Daniel because Mrs. Williams didn, 't allow her to received her husband calls. She said that Jessica has an affair with David, he believe his mothers lies... He was brainwashed by her mother...

Daniel never give her a chance to clear her name, he assume that all the information that he received are all true. His a total jerk! And he regretted it so much..

He stop calling her from then on, and for Jessica her world collapsed, all of her dream have been eroded and no one was there to help her, every night, she spend crying, and alone was the worst days that happen to her life... Daniels mom never treated her fairly, and she will never forget the night that she can't persevere anymore. Her in laws said..

“ I will never accept you as a daughter in law, Rugs! Not until I die!” she said with full of convictions.. And Jessica decided to flee from that house. Not knowing she is pregnant at that time, she is decided to go back home from her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds accepted what happened to their daughter. They take a good care of her until her pregnancy done. She deliver a healthy baby girl, and she named is Jamie Lynn. David never leave Jessica's in that time of her struggles...

He can't leave his friends family... And that moment that Jamie is born. He feels that he wants to give his name to the baby... He felt that he has the obligations for his friend, its sounds a noble thing but, since Daniel and I had been close we are more than a family... I treated him like a kin, and that happen to Jessica I felt the guilt... I was the one who drag her in that misery... So, I did everything to give them the life they deserve...

Jessica went back to school after giving birth to Jamie, David decided to give his last name to Jamie to give her a normal life, Jessica knows how children needs a father, and she just wants to give her daughter a complete family. So, she agreed, but David knows that Jessica still loves his friend.. She still hoped that one day they will be together...

When Daniel return to Beacon after 10 years, he decided to meet his friend David and to know what happened to Jessica. He also hired a private investigator to know every detail that happened in the last 10 years... All information gathered gives him a restless night he regretted everything... And his guilt is killing him every day.

He got the clarifications about that had happened when David and him talk. Until he told him everything and even his sickness...

“What's up Daniel?” David says.

“How could you say that to me ! I thought your my best friend, you betrayed me...” And he punch him and David accepted all the insult because right now all he wants was Jessica to be happy that she suffered so much and until now the guilt that he feels really killing him, Jessica is a nice girl and all he want was her to be happy. He kick, dodge and punch him even David did the same. Until they stop ant laugh at each other.

“I am your friend! Because the if not i shouldn't take good care of your family! You abandoned them, and I was the one who filled your obligations! And you know what you are assholes. She loves you so much, but you believe in your mothers lies. You are such a coward! You broke her Daniel when all she did were to understand you.... I nearly love her.... But because I'm your friend I persevere not to do anything to hurt you, selfish brat!

He was so shocked by his revelations...

“What do you mean my family?” he said..

“Yes, your family... You Haven't know what your mother did to her? She suffered a lot when you leave her, your mom makes her life like hell... Until she decided to go to back home to her parents...

“Explain this to me ...” he said as Daniel pulled out a picture that her mother send her.

“You misunderstood that pictures... That is a taken when Jessica needed help to make a way for me to contact you... And even the other pic. Didn't you know that your mom deprive her to call you and even talk to you... She make her miserable... She never became happy in that house until she is decided to go to home not knowing she is pregnant.” I told him

“I have a child with her?” Daniel feel lost with the truth..

David nodded and tell what he is needed to know. And from then on he became Jamie's shadow... He never leaves them from then on, but it was in secret, only him and David knows. Until the day that David dies because of heart attack.

Jessica on the other hand already knows Daniel existence secretly make her calm that no matter what happened to her in the future, he will take good care of their daughter. She still loves him in spite what happened they are family after all she never gets tired of loving him, and he knows it but it was too late for them to be together....

Tears flowing on Daniels eyes as he comes back from his reverie...
