Chapter 28 Unexpected arrival

Persephone's POV

After that much needed interrogation to help ease their minds, we talk for a moment just trying to relieve the little bit of tension that seemed to surround us. "So obviously you two have marked and mated, so that's a plus knowing you really are ok with that type of commitment to my son.. So have you two talked about babies?" his mother asks catching me completely by suprise.

My mouth drops open in complete and utter shock, there is no way to hide my emotions at this point.. But I guess the shock is something relatable at some point, because they all see the look on my face before laughing at my expense. "I'm just playing around sweetheart." his mother quickly responds and that comment alone adds the air back into my lungs, "Well I guess that's a straight no from her." Leeann states as she elbows Roxie.

I shake my head without hesitation and this action not only surprises the three of them but it even surprises myself. "I really would want a family with him.. It's scary and I don't know exactly how this would work, but I know it wouldn't upset me one bit if he wanted to have a baby.. I never thought this was a possibility in my life ever.. Now that I have met him, he has seemed to open the dam of family-filled feelings that are making me so excited for the future to come. I just hope all of us here can be OK.. I know this is strange but I swear I only want good and happy results when it comes to Jayce and this wonderful pack.. But the real question for me is... do you think all of you can accept me? If not today then eventually?" I ask laying this all out there, because I need them to know why I'm excited, but there is still hesitation when it comes to my heart and comfort because of them specifically.. they are my mate's family not just someone random that I might run into every now and then. They are his close family and, by the looks of things I'm going to assume I will be seeing all of them daily if anything.

I watch them look back and forth between each other before Roxie is the first to step forward. Which honestly doesn't suprise me one bit. "Well you know that I'm all on team Persephone and there is no hiding that at all.. but I cannot speak for the rest of them.. I know how I feel in my heart when I'm around you and it's just straight comfort, along with no threat.. That to me, means more than you know.. I have always had a problem with any new people, but suprisingly not with you." Roxie states so empathetically to me as I smile in response, waiting for what they will say next.

Of course, the next is Isabella. Which doesn't suprise me either. "Oh honey, as long as you treat my son like the good Alpha he is, then I will never object.. He is a great man and deserves the best.. I really think you could be that for him." She states giving me a side hug but still standing back next to Leeann, who has her arms crossed across her chest and glancing back and forth between us. "Well, I would like very much to say no to you.. I really would, because my family means everything to me and I don't ever want to see my brother hurt.. but I like what you seemed to stand for.. and even though we can get some unwanted attention drawn to our pack.. I don't think that is completely awful.. I saw how you acted when you thought you were alone with another.. attentive.. and pushy male so I appreciate that as well.. I will still have my guard up around you for sure, because it's still hard for me to give you any type of trust since you're still a stranger to me and have done nothing to earn my trust.. But.. You have my approval for now.. But mark my words, if you hurt my brother, then I will be the one to personally punish you, which will involve kicking you out of the pack.. I just hope for your sake it doesn't come to that." Leeann explains to me with warning laced through her words, directed right at myself, there is no mistaking that.

I nodded in response because I completely understood where she was coming from and I wouldn't want to do anything to hurt Jayce either.. But if I did, I would hope she would hold me to this threat. "Thank you for giving me this chance to try to earn all of your trust.. I really hope I don't let any of you down." I say to them, but before I even had a chance to say anything else, we are all surrounded by some vampires. I didn't hear, let alone see them, interject at all. How did none of us even detect this remotely? Vampires are fast, but really? We must have been that distracted.

"What are you Vampires doing here?" Isabella demanded from them in a protective tone as she steps forward trying to show her dominace.. You have to when an enemy let's themselves into your place. "Well we were just passing by and noticed some snacks layed out for us during our traveling." The Vampire I never thought I would see again states, getting all my attention as he quickly grabs hold of Leeann by the neck, then pulling her towards him in a flash movement.. making it almost look blurred. Isabella and Roxie try to help but are quickly stopped by the other Vampires with their claws and cainines extended in a threatening manner. "Edwin! Let her go." I now demand from him since he obviously didn't notice me like I did him.

I watch Edwin get a curious look on his face as he swings his head in my direction. "Persephone.. fancy seeing you here.. what are you doing here?" He asks me still holding onto her neck tight. She is gagging plus scratching at him but by the look on his face it does even look like it's bothering him at all even if he is bleeding right now. "Put her down and we can talk like civilized beings." I demand from him as he scoffs at me dropping her, while Roxie helps her up. Leeann grabs for her neck as if she is checking to make sure it's still attached, rubbing it lightly just trying to catch her breath. "Haven't changed at all have you Percy... always saving the helpless." He states in a mocking tone as Leeann spats, "I'm NOT helpless!"

Edwin laughs at her expense as he retorts, "I don't know PUP.. You looked pretty helpless in my grip." Causing all the ladies to growl in response to his comment. "Edwin.. what are you doing here? I think that's the better topic of conversation." I state trying to calm this situation down, steering the subject away from her. He just laughs at me because I think he knows exactly what I'm trying to do. "Boo Percy.. you're no fun.. ugh.. we are just passing by and thought we found an easy snack but apparently we found some annoying ones.. now.. my turn.. what are you doing here?"

I swallow the lump in my throat, because I was hoping I could avoid this if I got him talking about himself, he loves that.. but obviously that wasn't the case here. "I'm just here for personal reasons." I state not trying to give him any leverage against me since he hates me and my kind very much. Don't let the pleasant tone fool you because I know I won't.

"Percy.. just tell me before I rip your pretty little head off and suck that blood like I always imagined.. you and I both know that the only reason I have let you live this long is because you helped my beloved and I'll be forever indebted to you.. but you know I don't have the patience to deal with all of these stupid games.. just tell me." He states with a tinge of annoyance giving me a warning. My jaw clenches as I state through my teeth. "I'm here because I found my mate.. this is HIS pack.. Now Edwin you know as well as I do that you probably only have a couple more seconds until you and your men are in danger of being attacked for passing onto pack property.. Now before my mate murders you for threatening not only me but his sisters and his mother.. I suggest that you leave this property before things get increasingly worse then you ever imagined.." I state with so much strength in my words showing that I mean business and want to keep things civil if we can.. but there is no negotiating in this statement either.

I can tell his mind is reeling before his attention is grabbed by something behind us and I assume that it's my mate by the look in his eyes.. I notice him clench his jaw, now looking back and forth between myself and whoever is behind us before I start to hear the rumbling of growls coming through, showing me I'm correct. "What do I owe this unexpected visit?" I hear from my mate making me smirk at Edwin before I state for everyone to hear. "Oh nothing my love.. my friend and I were just catching up.. now I think it's best that we all just go our separate ways before anyone gets the wrong idea.. sound good to you Edwin?" I state to him giving the out he would need to peacefully leave this area before we don't let him and his men leave.

Edwin lets out a deep breath before replying. "Yes.. old friends.. just catching up.. maybe we can do this again sometime.. believe me, I won't stay a stranger.. Have a wonderful rest of your day and I'm sorry about the misunderstanding ladies." He slightly bows as his men do the same, just backing away until they cross through the treeline and out of our line of sight. I instinctively let out a breath I never even knew I was holding in. Then turning around, staring at the ladies before my mate is at my side in no time at all.

"Are you OK?! What happened?!" he asks with so much panic as he checks me for any signs of injury. "I'm fine Jay, I swear." I say to him as he looks at his family for the clarification I'm not giving him. "They came for a quick snack and I was almost that, until Perserphone quickly negotiated with them so no one got hurt.. it's fine.. luckily for us she knew him." Leeann states with anger in her voice, but I know it's not directed at me.. I think it's because she was almost killed.

"So you really knew him?" Jayce asks me just wanting to know what was really happening. I nod of course before replying. "Yes, Him and his men captured me because I was a light creature.. but in that process his wife went into labor and was dying during that moment.. long story short, I helped his beloved because she was going to die right there if I didnt.. So for payment he let me go that day and said he wouldn't let a Vampire in his clan touch me because I helped him.. but I haven't seen him since they let me go and he obviously didn't notice me at all before he ambushed us.. but it was lucky that he knew me because he wouldn't have hesitated otherwise." I explain to him as he nods at me, just taking in my words before replying. "Lets get everyone in before we have another unexpected visit."

We nod and start making our way closer to the pack house, now surrounded by the men who are making sure we are protected. I feel Jayce wrap his arm around my shoulders, just pulling me into his protective embrace. We enter the pack house before I'm pulled to the side by my arm, of course, gaining all my attention and my mates as well. "Thank you.. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you." Leeann states to me as I nod instinctively before replying. "Anything for family."

She smirks at me and then pats my back before walking past. I feel my mate's grip tighten around my waist before whispering in my ear. "Thank you for helping my family." He kisses my temple as I send him a small smile and nod.. But I have a bad feeling this is not over with just yet.. Edwin said he wouldn't stay a stranger and he is a being who tends to stick to what he says.. So anything he states you shouldn't take lightly.. But I'll try not to worry about that right now.. This situation is taken care of.. for now.
