Chapter 27 Explaining Things

Jayce's POV

I keep waiting as I watch my mate doing the same.. She looks so elegant and classy without even really trying. It's the way she walks and talks.. even holds herself, it's just something I'm not use to seeing but absolutely adore it.. Even after her full morning and afternoon of being locked up hasn't even phased her. She acts as if it didn't even happen but we all knew it did.. I will have to do something special for her when we are alone to make this up to her.. I need to make sure she knows that I wouldn't have ever treated her like that whether she was my mate or not.

I watch the males and females go up to my mate without hesitation, asking her questions that she willingly answers for them.. and the more I find out about her the more I love. She is talking right now about how we met and saved each other because I made sure to tell them that she did save me and I wouldn't be here without her.. and they are making sure she knows how greatful they are for that action alone.

"What other creatures have you met?!" another pack member asks with excitement in her voice as my mate shrugs her shoulders. "Anything and everything honestly.. not every meet up is a good one.. you can ask Jayce about the siren or the dragon and he will tell you that same sentiment.. but not all are bad either.. for a while I tried to live with the mermaids and always helped the Pegasus and unicorns.. some of my friends are other faes, gnomes, satyrs and now wolves." She says playfully smiling at them with her breathtaking smile.

"What about vampires?" a man asks her as she let's out a deep breathe.. "Vampires refuse to suck our blood but they hate us and try to kill us all the time." She explains to him as he looks just as confused as I am about this statement. "Why would they refuse to suck your blood?" He asks curiously. "Well sucking a light faes blood is automatic damnation... it gives you eternal life which they don't actually have contrary to popular belief.. They just have a longer life span than you but once they suck our blood they are damned to a life of hell by killing something so pure.. and also contrary to popular belief they are not that bad.. they have families, hearts and souls, as well as way more suspicious of others and way more closed minded.. So we just avoid each other if possible." She explains as best as she can to them as they nod in understanding.

"How can you trust any of those other creatures?" She is asked by the man that objected to changing the rule at all. She flips around to face him as she says without hesitation. "How could I not? I walked straight into a wolves den just trusting my mate with my heart and you think that's wrong? Because by the looks of it, I think I made the right decision.. Every creature has good and bad inside of them.. even myself.. it's what you choose to act on that makes your character and shows your true colors.. So until I give them the chance to prove that, how can I not trust them even slightly? And if I wouldn't have given them a chance or been brave enough to help when no one else would.. then I wouldn't have met all of you let alone any of the other amazing creatures out there. We are all alike in one way or another.. just because we don't look alike doesn't me we can't come to a compromise or even try to see eye to eye.. I feel like everything happens for a reason and part of the reason is to bring everyone together to get rid of the darkness.. it's our common enemy and we could be getting rid of it one compromise at a time."

"You can't make bad decisions you're a light fae.. You're meant to do only good." the man retorts to her as she quickly replies. "How do you think dark faes are made? They don't come out like that.. they are made like that by the same things that you come into contact with.. greed, heartbreak, revenge.. anything that would make you want to do anything bad just like for any other creatures.. we are the same just different origins.. But we have all been through anything that can turn you bad but you choose to be good and not give in to the temptation of the dark... same for myself hence why I'm a light fae and not a dark.. but I have come face to face with different trials of good and bad for myself and I chose to be the person I am because I was trusted by those I chose to help.. you have to give trust to earn trust."

The man looks her up and down processing what she has said to him and by the looks of it, her comment has really sunk in. He just nods and says a soft, "Thank you for your time Luna."

She smiles at him as she sends a small wave his way while I interject before she gets started again.. I'm starving.

"I'm sorry to interrupt all these questions but you may ask her more tomorrow night, I'm starving and I'm sure she is too.. So we are going to head inside for something to eat." I say to the crowd that has emerged around us. A resounding disappointed awe can be heard from all around making me smile.. I knew they would at least be intrigued by her and I'm happy to hear some of them love her already.

She smiles at me then shows that stunning bright smile to the crowd as she waves one more time and says, "Anything for my mate.. I'm sorry everyone I'll answer more questions tomorrow."

I take her by the hand and leading us into the pack house and straight to the kitchen area to see if we can get something going for us to devour.

As we enter that area, my attention is quickly grabbed by my family that are all accumulated in one spot. They are whispering a little suspiciously as they look back and forth at their surrounding area until they notice our arrival as both of my sisters and my mother quickly walk up to us and ask. "Can we maybe steal Persephone for a moment at least while they're cooking the food for you both and then we'll come right back and you guys can eat?"

I'm suspicious of this request because I have absolutely no idea what they would want to talk to her about.. but I still agree to let them have a moment with her because I know that they need this at least make themselves feel better.

My family has always been very protective over everyone in it and that even includes our pack.. because our pack is like our family, but when it comes to the actual immediate family, they have always been overly protective.. so I nod in response leaning down and kissing Persephone's cheek before saying a quick. "I'll see you soon.. let me know if you need anything.. and you'll be fine, don't worry."

She nods and says back in response. "I'm not worried at all, don't YOU worry about me.. we'll see you soon." I absolutely love her strong personality and confidence that goes along with it.. it gives me more strength in everything that I do, because yes I am worried and she knows it.. that's why she told me not to worry.. but now that I found her I'll always worry, there's no stopping that.

Persephone's POV

My hand is grabbed quickly by Roxie, who is dragging me behind her as she yells to my mate. "we are headed to the training grounds to have a little more of a private conversation we'll see you soon" I wave at him from afar while I'm still getting drug through the house and not out the way we just came in.. they're taking me through the side of the house, I guess to maybe take us away from the crowd of people so we're not disturbed.

We keep walking in a suspicious silence but I'm still not worried.. I was being honest with my mate when I said I wasn't worried.. I know they're not going to hurt me or at least if they do I kind of understand like an initiation of sorts.. But I think they're just being protective over my mate because they're not use to him having a mate or even having somebody just come in out of nowhere taking over their home and everything that they know.. So I completely understand that, hence why I'm going with them right now, hopefully we'll get whatever they need to, off their chests and we can just get past this.. Maybe as a family.. I don't know if they could ever consider me really, but if I'm going to be around for a long time, like I hope to be, then maybe they will be able to consider me as such.

We get out to what I assumed to be the training grounds, because there is some equipment out here that I've never seen before.. but some weapons they use in human form as they also do training in wolf form as well.

I'm brought out of my thoughts of the surrounding area by his mother to start off this conversation. "So the reason that we asked you to be here Persephone, is because we want to ask your actual opinion about all of this.. not mate to mate.. not family to family.. not wolf to fae.. just person to person.. how are you feeling about this whole situation? It's hard to comprehend everything, especially in just a couple days time.. so I'm sure it's a little overwhelming but that's why we're here.. we want to see if this is really what you want now that you've had a taste of what it could be.. the good and bad, is this something that you really want?"

"Absolutely this is everything that I could have ever imagined.. I've been alone for so long, that having anything else seems so refreshing.. a breath of fresh air.. something I definitely needed.. I thought I was going to be alone forever after my family was killed and I never thought I had a chance at a mate, so having this big wolf come out of nowhere and taking me in his loving embrace to protect me.. not only that but to also want to genuinely be with me.. That is all I could've ever asked for.. I don't want anything else.. I understand that it's hard for all of you to comprehend this because I didn't think this was possible either.. but I wouldn't change or trade a second I have had with him for the world.. he is everything that I ever wanted or even asked for.. and thank you so much for trying to give me a chance, I know it was hard for everyone, but I do appreciate you letting me into your home.. I know that we're not on the best of terms and there has been good and bad that is happened with me being here.. but I promise I only have everyone's best intentions in mind, I just like helping and only want to help.. I feel better when I help that's what I've dedicated my life to and why." I try to explain as best as I can.

"But that's exactly why we're asking, because you are a free spirit who has been able to go where you want, when you want, for whatever reason you want.. and not only that but also helping all species not just wolves, but all creatures.. Now you're tied down to a pack of wolves, maybe not by choice, but if you have to stay here after you've lived most of your life going from place to place.. are you sure that you would be okay with that?" Leeann asks from besides us getting our full attention.

"I am more than willing to help out whoever I can, whenever I can.. doesn't matter if it's just wolves or if it's every species that I come into contact with.. I don't care, I just want to help and what better position than to be a Luna.. a Luna as you know, is a person that helps take care of everyone.. She's a motherly figure which I've always wanted to be and gets to help any way that she can.. That's all I want to be, so I don't see why not.. I understand your suspicions and you're worries.. but I swear I won't be leaving once I commit myself to something.. I'm going to stick with it no matter what, so if you will let me, I would love to commit myself to this pack and to all of you.. but that is only if you'll accept me, because I will not force myself into a place.. I won't force that.. anything that needs to be forced will not work out.. So if you will accept me, then I would be more than willing to be here forever with all of you and help you out anyway that I can? I explain further just trying to ease their troubled minds, in hopes that might help, but I won't know for sure just yet.
