Chapter 24 Voting

Jayce's POV

My loud baritine booming voice rains over everyone to really make sure I have their attention which is just what I needed right now for this discussion.

"Thank you all for joining me.. I know this was unexpected to some.. not all.. but something came up that we need to discuss as a group to vote on.. So what started this is that I recently.. just found my mate." I say as the crowd erupts once more which is nice.. Everyone knows how hard this has been on me and how hard I have searched for her.. So I smile at that cheering enjoying this one moment, until I have to explain why she is not here right now.

"Yes Alpha!... You deserve a mate!.. Congrats!.. You deserve this!" The crowd continues to cheer different cheers for me.. making everything wonderful for the moment except for the fact that my mate can't celebrate this with me.

I keep looking around at all the excited faces as I see my brother and sister staring at each other intently, my brother rolls his eyes at her and then at me before getting up in a huff and leaving for inside. I look at my sister and she looks like her mind is reeling as she stares at the door that our brother just ran through. That is until she notices I'm staring at her so she puts a smile on her face and gestures for me to continue.. oddly enough.

"So the reason my mate is not here right now, is because she is in the dungeons at the moment.. because she put herself there.." I state in a loud tone so everyone can efficiently quiet down being curious to hear why she is in there.

"She put herself there because she saw some of the men.. interrogating a trespassing light creature.. she is also a light creature and was completely offended by how we treat them.. and she is right.. Us treating creatures that are not wolves like they have lesser value is wrong.. They are still beings with hearts, minds and souls and should be treated as such. She was so devastated because she is a light fae and is worried we are going to treat her the same way because of how we have been treating other light creatures we come into contact with.. So she has thrown herself into the dungeons out of protest for our laws because that's where we put light creatures since they are never guests here, just prisoners.. So I'm here to ask you all if we can implement a new rule that consists of NOT automatically accusing creatures of their presence whether invited or not, but giving them a chance to explain with me or a counsil of us with their story.. We no longer will take out our aggressions on them and anyone treating any other creatures unfairly will be rightfully punished for doing so." I try to explain to them as I see hands raise and groans along with grunts emerge. I watch my sister stand up raising her hand as I quickly pick her of course.

"It's hard for me to fully agree with that because we are a pack of wolves if you're dumb enough to invite yourself in on our lands, then you better be willing to face the consequences that comes with breaking in.. They don't treat us any differently than what we are, so why should we extend that courtesy for them?" She says crossing her arms across her chest as others agree with her groaning and grumbling more behind her.

"Because we are not ruthless monsters.. We are also trying to grow as a pack and become stronger and bigger than we ever imagined.. the only way to keep thriving like we are is to adjust to the new times.. and this is something that calls for just that.. We are not the only creatures that are having a hard time, trying to build their lives right now in this dark world. Why not make ourselves bigger and stronger by not being closed minded to anything new.. They could have so much to offer just like we do." I try to explain as a man stands up raising his hand. So I pick him out if the crowd. "What could a measly little fairy have to offer us to help? We are way bigger and stronger than them." He sounds confused so I try to explain further.

"For one thing.. faes can talk to all creatures.. can you communicate with all creatures? Because I know I can't.. that would help out with disputes.. my mate is also just as fast if not faster than I am.. and she has not only saved my Beta Theodore's life, but also my own multiple times because of her healing and protective spells.. I wouldn't be here without her.. So just because they are not the same as us, doesn't mean they are not worthy to be happy and have a happy life around us.. She is my mate.. my mate is a fae! This is something that has seemed impossible but obviously we have found out, very possible.. It's happening whether we like it or not and I'm not missing out on having my mate by my side.. You all know how long I have been searching for her and if this is what I need to do just to have her and let her feel safe in the place she wants to call home, then so be it." I say to them as another hand raises. "Well what if having a light fae as our Luna will bring some unwanted attention to us?" She asks as I look over at Leeann staring at me for a moment with a know-it-all look, then getting up to head inside.

"Well I know having her as the Luna will bring attention, but like I said before, this is the world we want to move into.. having multiple friends of different origins that can bring so many things to the table.. and she is the start of that.. she can not only help others feel nice, safe and even comfortable about being around us since we are intimidating.. showing them that we are not monsters to be scared of like most think about our kind, that we are part human as well.. we have minds, bodies and souls as well.. I do swear on my life that she just wants the best for all of us and I really feel in my heart that this is the right step forward.." I say to them as I start seeing nodding throughout the crowd but not there yet.. So I pick another man standing up.

"What if she uses her powers on us? She could hurt us? Or even our pups." He says obviously not knowing her at all. But before I can even answer him Theodore stands up saying in me and my mate's defense.

"She won't hurt you.. If she uses her powers it will be to help somehow.. His mate saved me twice the first night I met her." He says as they start mumbling back and forth about it being because I'm her mate but they don't know.. so he adds. "You don't understand.. She had not met our Alpha yet.. she had no idea that he was her mate at all.. I was threatening her because she was a light creature and she ran, so I ran after her.. I was hit by an ogre and when he was going to kill me, she saved me from him.. she knocked him out and noticed I was bleeding more than I ever expected and she healed me just so I wouldn't die.. I was her enemy and she still stuck her life out on the line for me to help me.. twice.. She won't hurt you.. She just wants to help."

I love where this conversation is going so I continue on that note. "She had helped at least 5 different creatures just because she can.. and that's only since I met her, which wasn't too long ago at all.. Since I have only known her for a couple days now.. But I have found out in this short span of time that she is an amazing person and has opened her heart and dedicated her life to helping others like most light creatures have.. So why would we just hurt them? Why not embrace their kindness.. they won't hurt us if we didn't hurt them. Why do we have to close ourselves off to new creatures.. We are not close minded.. We can elevate into the future not weaker, but stronger with more friends and more help than we have ever imagined. Now will you grow with me to be a better pack and take on the furure of new and exciting friends and family? Who knows, some of you might be fated to be with a different creature like I am.. I'm not here to judge I'm here to help support you as best as I can.. and I hope you can do the same for me.. Let's take on the world together as one and just know that if anything happens I will make sure to address it myself.. Will you help me keep my mate and any new friends safe in our precense because we are not closed minded, uncontrollable monsters?" I ask as the area erupts with cheers giving me the answer I needed to hear thankfully. I let out a sigh of relief, nodding, just happy that I was able to convince them to help me in this harder and sensitive situation.

"Ok let's vote on it to make this official. Who votes we stay the same not implementing this new rule and staying closed off to any new comers that are not wolves?" I ask seeing a few hands raise up as I take note of the people who want that.. because you never know they could cause problems later not liking this rule to be implemented.

"Ok now who votes that we move forward with not only this new rule, but the wave of creatures this opens the door for.. to help all?" I ask as the majority of the crowd raises their hands making me smile big.

"Ok it's official.. So from now on if there are any tresspassers they are to be brought to me.. We do not punish anyone, especially if they are not our kind without talking with me.. and we will welcome all creatures because everyone needs help not just us.. So if I hear of anyone hurting another for whatever the reason, just know there will be consequences to pay. Does everyone understand and have anything else to add before this is over with?" I ask as I see a man who voted to keep things the same, standing then we hear him ask over the crowd.

"So does this mean they will be receiving special treatment just because they are other creatures? What if one hurts us? Do we not reserve the right to defend ourselves?"

I nod in understanding just making sure to clarify.

"You ALWAYS have the right to defend yourself, because bringing different beings together is bound to cause some type of tension.. but I will be brought into the conversation as to why the attack happened and how things should proceed from there, whether it's against you or the other creature.. We are not giving special treatment, I just want everyone to be treated the same. That's all.. I want everyone to feel safe and welcome in our home no matter if it's you and your family or theirs." I explain as best as I can while I watch everyone continue to nod at my explaination.

"Ok so since this has been cleared up I'm going to get my mate and we will introduce her and get this started off the right way." I say to them as they erupt louder just wanting to meet her.
