Chapter 5
Gwen’s POV
“She is…” Stefan began but she stopped him, stretching forth her hand towards me for a handshake.
“I'm Celine, Stefan's mate and you are?” Celine, as she introduced herself, stared at me in disgust, still
batting her lashes.
“Mate?” It was unbelievable and I didn't know why I felt so bad upon hearing her statement.
“Celine…” Stefan pulled her closer to his side, clearing his throat.
“This is Gwen.” He began.
“She is our Pack Guardian so from now on, she will be our ambassador.” Stefan informed her calmly
and she nodded her head.
“Oh wow. That's amazing. I almost thought she was some maid or something.” Celine laughed, closing
her mouth.
I just watched them in silence.
“So, Gwen, do you have a mate?” Celine asked, raising her anxious brow and I shook my head.
“No, not yet.” I said nervously.
“Well, that's too bad. We all are taken, I mean, Stefan and Asher both have their…” She continued
yapping, obviously trying to piss me off when she was shunned.
“Celine, is this important right now?” Asher asked scornfully.
“Oh…” She trailed off.
“So…” Stefan faced me.
“I haven't decided yet.” I frowned.
“Are we still in this phrase? I mean, let's see how it goes within one month and if you're still not into it,
we will let you go.” Stefan said, urging me with his eyes.
“Fine. But don't forget your promise.” I reminded him.
“I won't.” He smirked.
“Does that mean you have accepted?” Asher raised an anxious brow and I nodded, then he smiled.
“That's good. Let's go. I will take you to your new place.” Stefan requested and attempted to walk
when Celine grabbed his arm.
“Babe, you promise to spend the evening with me.” She whimpered, caressing his arm which he, for
some reason, tried to pull away.
“Celine, we can do this some other time. Gwen is an important figure in our pack.” He said seriously.
“But still, we made an agreement and I can't let you go tonight.” She said steadily with determinism in
her eyes, and Asher shrugged.
“Have some time with your woman, bro. I will take care of Gwen.” Asher assured him but he still looked
reluctant.
“But…”
“Don't worry.” Asher faced me.
“Let's go, Gwen.” And that was how we left Stefan and Celine in the hallway, heading to another section.
I controlled myself not to face back and witness his love play with Celine.
It annoyed me for no reason but I tried not to care.
After passing through guards and servants, greeting courteously, we arrived at a secluded chamber and
Asher stopped in his tracks.
“Just as Stefan had promised you, your chamber is next to his.” As he spoke, he pointed at a gigantic
mansion beside the chamber we were in.
It was glimmering with light and heavily guarded, and there was no trees or green, the compound
looked lifeless.
“This is your chamber from now on, Miss. Gwen.” He said.
I stared at the courtyard that I was in. It was big, quiet, and had about three rooms with enough space.
“I think I can make do with this.” I said with a sharp nod.
“I truly appreciate you for accepting to be our guardian. This may be tough but I will try to guide you
throughout the process.” He assured me warmly and I nodded.
“Thank you so much.” I flashed him a smile.
“Kindly call my attention or the maids if you need anything.” He paused.
“Our guard will inform you if there are any meeting that needs your attention or time for breakfast and
whatnot.” He informed me vividly.
“Sure!” I kept admiring the mansion as he started walking out of the courtyard but he suddenly
stopped.
“Gwen.” He called out to me and I faced him.
“Yes, Asher?” My brows furrowed.
“About Celine…” There was a sharp break.
“She's not Stefan's mate. I mean, Stefan and I haven't seen our mate but in order to keep his position,
he bonded with a random lady and I did the same.” He nervously explained to me and I cleared my
throat.
“Ohh..” I flushed.
I couldn't tell why he was explaining things to me when it wasn't my business but I was a little bit
relieved after hearing his explanation.
“You don't need to explain to me though…” I said sarcastically.
“I just want to clear the air so as not to cause confusion. I will let you rest now.” Without another
word, he left the courtyard.
I sighed heavily, scratching my hair.
“Gwen, what have you done?” I muttered in agony, walking into the first room that attracted me.
The following morning, I was woken up by the noise coming from the living room. I quickly hurried
out after a short grumbling.
“What's going on here?” I groaned, cleaning my eyes.
“Good morning, Lady Gwen!” All the servants bowed as soon as I entered the living room.
“Lady Gwen, I'm Celia. I will be your handmaid from now on.” Celia stepped out, and introduced
herself with a short bow and a few minutes later, the other servants walked out.
“So, what's the occasion? What's with all these gifts?” I asked anxiously.
“These are gifts from Lord Stefan for your acceptance to his offer.” She paused.
“He also wants you to introduce you to the pack members and asked me to come with you.” She added
warmly.
“Oh, alright. I need to freshen up and get ready then.” I said stately.
“Yes, and Lord Stefan chose this dress for you.” She said, pushing an outfit to my hands.
“What's this? He doesn't know my taste, does he?” She didn't respond to me as she gently pushed me
back to my bedroom.
We arrived at the pack gathering in the vast pack compound, the members made a path in their middle
and I shyly walked on the path, feeling nervous as I approached the platform where Stefan and the
others were waiting for me.
No doubt, he had a good taste in clothes. The gown fitted my curves perfectly and gave me a different
look.
After what I had gone through, I didn't know I would look so good and elegant.
I stared at the two female ladies standing beside Stefan and Asher, Celine whom I found familiar and the
other whom I didn't know.
They shot me daggers and looked dissatisfied with my present but I cared less about them as I stood in
the center, staring at the two brothers.
“You look gorgeous.” Stefan whispered, I saw his cheek flushed and a small smile hiding on the corner
of his lips, but he continued keeping an unapproachable font.
“You are beautiful, Miss. Gwen.” Asher complimented me loudly and I bowed in response while
smiling.
“Everyone! Permit me to introduce you to the significant lady in our midst this morning.” Stefan
began, calling their attention with a sharp growl and they faced me, all eyes on me, making me nervous
as I twisted the edge of my dress.
“Meet Lady Gwen, our Pack Guardian and our Pack new Ambassador. She will be living in our pack
from now on.” He announced seriously and thick murmur filtered in the air, some of them looked
surprised.
“I know her!” Then, a thick masculine voice erupted from the gathering as the strange man stepped forward.
All eyes fell on him.
“Who are you?” Stefan fired at him almost immediately
“I'm Xavier, the son of Elder Jonns. I know this lady.” He said vividly.
“What about her do you know?” Asher asked anxiously.
“That she is from the enemies pack, Blood Moon Pack, how can we trust an enemy?” He asked , raising his brow as anxiety lingered in his eyes.
Everyone started murmuring and nodding, they also looked dissatisfied.
I swallowed hard on nothing while turning to the stunned brothers.
