Gwen’s POV
“NO! NO! I MUST RUN!” I urged myself as I ran speedily.
I heard hoofing sounds from behind and bush clearing and I knew I was being chased.
Wasn’t he Alpha Davion? I knew he had something up his sleeve.
He would rather pin my death on rogues than on his hands.
My body started to fail me, then I struggled to transform into my wolf.
I knew my wolf was weak and I also knew I had gotten a new one, maybe grace would be on me.
“Chase her and kill her on the spot!” The voice came with fear and I ran into the thick bushes.
I transformed but my wolf was still weak and lazy just like my body.
I didn't know where I was going, I was turning at every curve and path that I crossed paths with, like
one with no direction.
All I had in my mind was going far away from them.
I was breathing heavily and panting, and my fear increased when I started hearing their footsteps.
They were fast, ignorant, and determined to kill me.
“What?” When I looked back a bit and spotted one of the men, I recognized them almost immediately.
“The dark assassins?” I gasped, still running when my wolf failed me and I aggressively changed into my
human form, collapsing on the floor.
“No. I must run. Those people listen to only the Alpha’s order and they show no mercy.” I encouraged
myself as I crawled on the ground and then again, picked up my pace.
Just for me, he called the dark assassins. This means he didn't want me to be the Guardian of his
enemy’s pack, he wanted me dead.
“Gosh!” When I saw a thick bush where there were dark clothes, I dived in there, hiding myself behind
the clothes and trying to control my breathing.
There was a sharp movement in the area and I maintained my stance, praying fervently in my heart to
the Moon Goddess. I knew one day I would die but I didn't want to die this way, in shame as a witch as
I was accused.
“Someone is here.” The first voice came up, alluring and anxious.
The voice didn't sound like my chaser.
“Yeah, I think so. My wolf is somewhat aroused.” The other male adjourned as they started walking
around while approaching where I was.
Or should I show my face and ask them to save me?
“I have nothing to lose. They might help.” I intended to show myself when I heard familiar footsteps
and breathing approaching our corner.
The guys paused and turned backward. I could witness everything faintly and the strange men were
facing me with their back, bare, and having no upper clothes on.
“Who are you?” The first voice barked at the assassins who wanted to fight them but were stopped by
their leader.
It seemed they knew the men.
“Sorry to disturb your hunting.” The assassin leaders bowed.
“Did you see any lady? Tall, fair, in a white dress, maybe dirty?” The assassin's leader asked anxiously
and sounded as polite as he could ever be.
I was already breathing heavily. Would they sell me out?
There was no way they didn't know I was hiding behind their clothes especially when they exchanged
knowing stares and shook their heads.
“None was here except you want some bush meats?” The second man teased and the assassins shook
their heads.
“We will leave.” The assassin leader sighed in annoyance as he bowed, took a look around the area, and
rushed to another path with his men.
I gasped in relief when the clothes suddenly went off and I was welcomed by the intoxicating view of
two hot masculine men.
“This…” I couldn't say a word as I stared at them, jaw dropped.
They were drop-dead gorgeous. Sharp eyes, deep silver short hair, and an intimidating aura. I lost it for
a moment and found it hard to differentiate them from each other since they looked so similar.
"A tall, fair lady, dressed in white..." The man behind the first man trailed off while staring at me.
“Who are you?” The first man, who for some reason attracted me first from his enchanting voice,
stared at me with an indescribable look in his eyes.
Was he human? No, maybe a missing myth or a Greek God.
“I… I…” I stammered, dimwitted, and flushed at the same time.
“Bro, do you think she..” His brother, the second man, attempted to speak when he suddenly stopped
him.
“They may still be around.” He muttered and his brother nodded in understanding.
His brother started packing their hunting tools when he faced me, flashing me a cold smile.
“Forgive me, lady.”
“For…” And just then, he swept me off my feet to his shoulder and how he instantly turned into a
Lycan that could fly, I couldn't explain.
Everything happened so fast and I couldn't take them all in and fainted in his arms.
The warm scent from the chestnut burning lamp woke me up as I slowly opened my eyes.
“Where am I?” The last thing I remembered was crossing paths with those men who somehow saved
me.
Were they the Moon Goddess' descendants?
I was still battling with my thoughts when the door pulled open and the men walked in again.
“What? They are real wolves?” I was baffled.
“We are not wolves but Lycans.” How the second man knew what I said in my heart was surprising as I
sat upright in the bed.
“Lycans? We have only one mighty Lycan Kingdom which is the one ruled by…” I trailed off when
everything slowly started to fit in well.
“The Lyacan brothers?” I spilled bluntly, staring at them in disbelief when they nodded their heads at
my call.
“What?” I couldn't believe it.
How did I end up meeting them? They were the Lords of Alphas.
“Now I understand…” I rubbed my chin as I quickly remembered how the assassin leader bowed to
them.
They knew who they were.
“I’m Stefan and this is my brother, Asher.” Stefan, the first man with a charming voice and amazing
eyes, introduced himself, as my eyes wandered to his cute, handsome brother.
“It’s not nice to meet you until you explain why those assassins were chasing you,” Asher said seriously.
“I’m being accused here, I’m innocent.” I defended myself quickly and Stefan scoffed.
“Everyone always claims to be innocent. You should at least explain what happened.” Stefan said
steadily and I shook my head, facing the ground.
“For the past, I don’t want to talk about it.” Then, I faced them.
“Thank you so much for saving me, I will never forget you but I need to leave here now,” I said calmly
and suddenly, Stefan placed a hand on my forehead, and for some freaking reason, I blushed.
“You still have a fever, dear tiny mouse. You need to regain your lost power to leave.” He muttered and
Asher cleared his throat, making us break our gaze.
“Looking at it, you don’t have anywhere to go, do you?” Asher asked, raising an anxious brow.
“I do. I have friends in the human city and I would go there and live far away from my kind.” I lied, still
maintaining my facial expression.
“Why does this sound like you are running away from your past? Do you want to let your accuser live
in peace after ruining your reputation?” Stefan asked curtly, but his eyes were saying the opposite.
They were filled with concern and urges.
“What do you intend a weak, wolfless, and mateless wolf to do?” I asked, staring at him hopelessly.
