Chapter Nine

852 Words
I finished packing most of my clothes and a few other things before I walked out of my room and over to my mom's room. I stood at the door before I walked in. I knew what I was looking for. I went over to the closet and found a locket with a family picture in it. I put the locket on before turning around and finding a wrapped box. I looked closely at it and it had my name on it. It was a small box wrapped in purple paper. I put it in my pocket and began looking around for my mother's picture frames. “Winter!” I heard Issac yelling. I grabbed the books and left the room. “Are you ready for this funeral?” I only nodded. “. Let me put this in my room so we can go down.” I walked to put the stuff on my bed before going to meet with Issac. We walked down to the lobby where the pack was waiting for us. There was a lot of crying and “I'm sorry for your loss” before the funeral started. We finally sat down as the funeral started. People talked about their lives. Finally, it was my brother's turn. “My parents were always there for anyone who needed them. Even in their final days, they stayed protecting the alpha family. I believe there was a greater reason they were taken from our lives, but we may never know why that is. They will always be with us in spirit and they know they were loved by so many.” He spoke without a tear in his eye, but the way he talked I knew he was sad. It was a sad time. As he went to sit down, I stood up and walked to the podium. “My father gave me a speech twenty-four hours ago, and now I'm talking to him. I never expected this day to come so soon. I always thought they'd live to meet their grandchildren. But they will never get that because they promised to protect them. I love them and I know they are still together with our goddess Selene and she will take care of them and one day I will meet my parents again, but I hope it is not for a long time.” I spoke truthfully, feeling less alone than I had in a while. I went and sat down and my brother grabbed my hand. “every day you remind me more and more of mom, you are so strong and caring. I love you sis”, I smiled at his words. “I love you too, bro”. The funeral ended and I and my brother went up to our rooms to rest before the long trip back to his pack. I cleaned, got off my bed, and lay down quickly, falling asleep. I woke up, at least I thought I did. I looked around the field around me. Where was I? I began to walk before I saw my parents. I stopped, there was no way I died. Then I saw Selene. I walked closer before they noticed me. I bowed to Selene. “Child, sit up, we have important news for you”. I looked up at them and saw my parents looking worried. “ My sweet daughter, you are not in a safe place in that pack with eric as the alpha. He paid rouges to attack to ruin the party.” I looked at my mom. “what?” my dad spoke next “ I overheard everything and he plans to get rid of you and your brother as well.” I gasped. Selene spoke next, “I know I usually don't grant wolves early but you will need it, don't let anyone know.” she walked up and touched my forehead. “Winter, I would like you to meet snow your wolf” I gasps as a pure white wolf walked out. I woke up. Was all that a dream? I sat up and looked around the room. “It was not a dream little one, we need to shift to fulfill our bond” I nodded. “Am I able to find my mate since I have you now?” I saw her and nodded my head. How am I going to keep all this a secret? I finished making sure I had everything packed and I walked to Issacs's room and knocked on the door. “ Bro, it's time to go”, he opened the door and looked at me. “You look different, but if you're ready let's get going”, I went and grabbed my bags heading down to the SUV. “When do we shift Snow?” I asked my wolf. “Soon, as soon as you get to the new pack, see if you can get away, we can find an opening in the woods and shift. I nodded and Issac walked down the stairs and we left that pack.
