The Reason

Chapter Twelve

When I woke up, I practically jumped out of bed and ran to my closet to get dressed. I put on a simple sundress and went down for breakfast. I smiled at Korri, who was sitting with his father at the head of the table. I sat down next to Issac as the food was served.

“Good morning sis, how did you sleep?” Isaac asked me as I looked at my plate, “Well, I spent a lot of time on school work but when I finally did fall asleep, I slept well.” He looked at me, “ how much school work did you do last night?” “ I started eating laughing slightly. “Well maybe about half the class, for each class” HE spit out his food. That made me laugh more. “How did you do that? I only gave you the information last time, and it was like 10:30?” He says while trying to eat. I shrug and eat my food.

“Snow are you there?” I said to my wolf, talking slow bites. “I am child, what do you need?” “ Am I able to mind link now that I have you?” “I suppose so, but remember you are not supposed to share that you have me.” “ I want to mindlink Isaac. How do I do that?” “Just think of Isaac and ill connect to his wolf,” I thought for a second and finished my plate. “Thank you snow.” I then grabbed my plate and took it to the kitchen. There I’m met with Korri.

“Hey, winter. Miss me so much you had to move to my pack?” I. “no not really, just some problems.” I look at him and he grabs my hand and kisses it. “ would you like to join me for a run” I look at him to see if he’s serious. “Actually, that sounds nice. Let me go change and we can go.” He nods, “let me walk you there”. I nodded and we walked up the stairs. I go into my room and change into shorts and a tank top. I also throw my hair into a bun. I walked back outside and we started towards the packhouse doors.

We quickly started running towards the border. The first thing I noticed was that I was faster than Korri. I slowed down a bit. “Damn, I thought I’d be faster”, he laughed. I smiled and slowed to a jog where Korri was fully running. I stopped for a second so he could catch a breath. “Are you alright?” I asked him to stretch and sit on the grass. Korri sits next to me.

“When I first saw you, I thought you were so beautiful, and seeing you now you are just so much more.” Korri grabbed my hand. I felt slight butterflies in my stomach. No one has ever talked to me like this. I know I have no feelings for Korri, so why was I getting butterflies? I looked at him. “Thank you, you are very handsome yourself.” I grabbed his hand and looked at the forest in front of me wishing I would run like snow. Maybe that's why I'm faster than him. I have my wolf. “Korri, do you have your wolf?” I rubbed his hand, tracing his bones. “Uh, yeah. I got him this morning. I have gotten the chance to shift. How did you know I haven’t told anyone yet?” I looked at him. “ I don't know, I was just asking a question.”

“What's your wolf's name? And would you shift now?” He looked at me confused. “ His name is Jax and I can. But can I ask why? You don't have your wolf.” He says, standing up and taking off his shirt. “ I just wanna see.” He nods and takes his shorts off. Standing in his boxers, he started to shift for the first time. I watch as his bones break and fur starts to sprout from his skin.

When he's fully shifted, he walks over to me and playfully pokes me with his nose. I smiled and stood up. He’s a light gray with dark black paws and the tip of his tail is white. I smile and pet him. “ You’re so beautiful,” I say to him.

Suddenly, Snow starts to get wiled up. “Snow what's wrong?” “We need to shift now” “what about Korri?” “ Child, both of you will be killed if you stay in human form. I know everyone will know but we need to shift.” I nodded my head to her and started undressing. Korri looks at me. His head tilts. When I'm in my bra and panties, I shift. Korri looks surprised. Suddenly rogues surround us. Korri doesn’t move. I don't think he can smell them. I jump behind him and the rogue goes to attack me. I grabbed his throat-ripping it out. As if he had finally gotten over his shock. He jumped next to me as more came out of the woods.

I mind-linked Isaac, “Bro we are being attacked help”. I cut the link and growled at the rogues. Korri attacks another one that goes after me. I jump back and suddenly wolves from the pack are running out of the forest. I notice Isaac's wolf. The rogues take off suddenly scared. Isaac looked around and looked for me. Realizing he'd never seen my wolf, I walked up to him. Blood was running down my snout.

“Sis is that you?” His mind linked to me. I nodded and he looked shocked, as there were so many wolves around, including alpha Alex. I swallowed the lump in my throat and walked up to him. “Who are you?" He yelled through the mind link. Alpha can mind link any wolf. “It's Winter.” “You said you didn't have your wolf. You lied” “ I had to for my protection.” I spoke calmly. He just nods and we all head back to the packed house to clean up.

Back in human form, I grabbed my phone and texted Ember, “Hey how's it going?” He looked at it, “we need to talk, can you come back to the pack? I'm home, there's some serious s**t here”. I wasn't expecting that so soon. I packed a bag and walked to Isaac's room. I knocked on his door. He opens it, “ sis, what's wrong?” I look him in the eyes. “I need to go home.” He only nods and grabs his key. “Well, I guess me and Rem are taking a trip.” I smile and we head downstairs to his car. We started the long drive back to the red fear pack.
