The Reason

Chapter Thirteen

I slept most of the way back to the old pack. When we got there, I got out as soon as Rem put the vehicle in park, I jumped out and stretched from the long trip. Issac and Rem got out and we all started heading to the pack house until I got knocked over and the alpha son suddenly embraced.

" I missed you too, Ember, but you can get off of me" Ember ignores me and embraces a kiss on my lips. I happily kissed her back until I realized a scent hit me hard that smelled like pine trees and lavender.

"MATE" Snow yelled, as I was confused. Did our mate get his wolf or did he already have it? Then I remembered what dad said. He said that Ember would get his wolf early also because of his father. That means I'm Ember mate.

I can't believe this, I was getting too deep in my thoughts when I felt something get off of me. I looked at Ember and he was handing his hand out for me to grab. I took him and helped him up and kept him close. Probably his wolf is taking some control of him.

" Do they know??" Ember asked as I answered his question. "Yes, we were attacked by rogues and I had to shift to protect myself," Ember only nodded."Then the other beta leaves” Ember orders but my brother growls, that growl wasn't playful or friendly at all. It sounded like my brother wanted to fight him.

"My mate will stay here next to me at all times, so don't think you can order my mate to do whatever you want. He's not from this pack, so don't try making him follow the rules around here, plus we don't plan to stay long anyway. But if you try I'll kill you." My brother threatened Ember, who knew my brother was an overprotective person type, deal.

“You two stop arguing. We have a lot to discuss,” I told the boys. We walked to a soundproof room, and Rem and Isaac sat on one side of the room. I sat on a couch before I felt the sparks of the mate bond on my arms. I looked over and Ember pulled me closer to him. Isaac glared at him for being my overprotective brother. “Explain why you needed us here so soon?” I asked Ember. “Well, the moon goddess came to me in my sleep and gave me my wolf- “ he started but I interrupted him “Flame” he looked surprised but nodded. “Selene explained everything to me.” I stopped him.

“Selene has come to me twice, along with my parents.” everyone looked shocked but I continued. “Your father had my parents killed, and was trying to have me and my brother killed, but I got my wolf the day I left this pack. That's how I knew how to leave the diner. The roughs were following us.” Rem stopped me. “That's why you were frantic to leave, why didn't you tell us or at least your brother?” I started again, “ Selene asked me to keep it a secret, as she never grants wolves early but with a war incoming, she felt it necessary. Isaac, I'm sorry I never told you but it had to be kept a secret.” Isaac stood up. “His father killed our parents and you're cuddled up to him like he's not gonna run back to his dad!” I was surprised by Isaac's reaction.

“Woah, it's not like that I'm at your side,”. Ember said. Isaac walked up to him growling, and pulled me away, “Isaac stop”, I yelled out as he hurt my arm. “Give me my mate back”. That made Issac growl louder. They started fighting. Rem pulled Isaac away. Before he shifted. I ran in front of Ember. “Brother stop this. You know better. Ember has been my best friend since we were born. He wouldn't hurt me.” I pleaded. Issac shifted back and Rem gave him a pair of shorts to put on. Everyone settled back into their places. Ember was the first to say next, “So how do we kill my father?”
