Chapter 04: Fifty-Million Deal With Groupon Company

1147 Words
Loud laughter filled the entire living room. “Are you kidding us, beggar?” A loud laugh from Sandy. For her, hearing Gad’s courage to make a fifty-million deal with the owner of Groupon Company, which is the most powerful and prominent company in their country, is a big joke. Her husband’s family, Randall Evans, who has a small partnership with Groupon and couldn’t even make it to top their deals of half of 50 million with them, how about this man who was just a security guard? Dexter approached Gad with a face full of sarcasm while still clapping. “That’s so amazing, man, amazing!” Gad gave him a stern look, he was dead being serious about what he said and was not joking. If only they knew that he is the owner of the Groupon Company, they might not be able to laugh now. And knowing that Dexter works at the Groupon Company as a doctor, Gad can’t be bothered to call his office to fire this man immediately. Dexter spoke again. “Are those your tactics to impress Flora? Well, sew you because it won’t work, loser!” “How?” Gad replied, his face gave a wry smile. “I already have my wife’s attention, I don’t have to make an effort to impress her, unlike you who have to use dirty tricks just to get her attention.” Gad said it directly without stuttering as he looked seriously at Dexter. He emphasized the word ‘my wife’ to clarify to Dexter that he is the husband of the woman he is courting. Meanwhile, Dexter’s face flushed in anger. He couldn’t believe that this beggar had the courage to answer him like that! “You sound so undoubtedly uneducated!” Dexter spat. “Flora will not be happy with a mentally ret*rded like you!” “Stop it, Dexter,” Flora interjected, her voice obviously not liking what Dexter’s saying. Dexter cried out a scornful laugh. “Why? I’m just telling the truth, aren’t I? He is mentally ret*rded. Look, maybe even the money he used to buy the clothes he’s wearing now were from your pocket!” “Can you just stop? The man you’re calling mentally ret*rded is my husband,” Flora responded, not happy with what Dexter was showing. “Look, I’m just being nice here, okay?” Dexter explained to Flora. “I am saving you, Flora, all you need to do is to divorce this pathetic man now and marry me.” Martin stepped forward as he turned to his daughter. “You’re the one who should stop, Flora. I am starting to believe that your husband is really mentally ret*rded. How can a security guard like him secure a fifty-million deal with Groupon? Ha! What do you think of Groupon?” Lacey’s eyes rolled in irritation. “Maybe a lunatic man like him only sees things as a dog house game. You see, Flora, how lowly a person your husband is? You should divorce him now and marry Dexter instead!” “The Celestial Locket and that expensive bracelet, isn’t that reason enough to say that Dexter should be your husband?” Martin remarked, his brows furrowed. For him, he didn’t want to let go of this opportunity. Having the son-in-law of a rich man like Dexter who comes from a powerful and influential family will raise their family even more. From then on, he was fed up with being insulted by Aunt Sonya, his elder sister, and their extended family because they had an unfortunate daughter. But now that their daughter is in a good situation, this is the right time to ask for compensation. At first, Dexter’s face was surprised when Martin mentioned a super-expensive necklace. He won’t dare to spend such huge money on just a necklace! In fact, his friend just gave him the bracelet and he didn’t cost a buck! But when Dexter saw the necklace Flora was wearing, he immediately pretended to be. “I cost a total of 30 million dollars in the necklace because I know that you deserve it, Flora.” Seeing Dexter being the best pretentious man, Gad scoffed blankly. For now, it isn’t a wise decision to say that he was the one who gave the Celestial Locket to Flora, especially he can’t say that he is the owner of the Groupon Company because they sure won’t believe it. Not now. “Grandma Silvia, don’t give this pathetic man a dare that’s too impossible for him to achieve!” Lacey interjected, looking at Gad disdainfully. “Whether he can make the deal or not, we still have to force him to divorce my daughter even if it is against his will, we don’t give a damn care!” Everyone around agreed with what Lacey said. Grandma Silvia couldn’t help but think. Lacey was also right, whether Gad manages to make a fifty-million deal with Groupon or not, in the end, he should still divorce Flora. The Campbells securing a deal with the Groupon Company is a huge project for her as the head of the family and should not be taken lightly by someone as a poor guy as Gad Anderson. If this man were to face the CEO of Groupon as a representative of The Campbells, Groupon would definitely have a bad impression on their family. Randall Evans, Sandy’s husband, entered with a crooked smile on his face. “Why not give the deal to Sandy, my wife, rather than giving it to the beggar, Grandma?” Sandy burst in full of bragging. “That’s right, Grandma. In fact my husband’s family had been negotiating with Groupon Company. It will be a piece of cake for me to deal a fifty-million dollar with their CEO.” Evans Family. Gad Anderson knows they’re one of Groupon’s lowest partners. Is that all they can brag about? “Grandma,” Gad called, his deep-serious voice roamed around, commanding an attention which made everyone look at him confusedly. “Give the deal to Flora. If you really want us to prove our marriage.” “Gad, what?” Flora muttered to her husband, becoming worried. Flora has a stable job at the Groupon Company in Accountancy Department as what Gad have mentioned to her father earlier. But Flora has been wanting to show off her capabilities and prove herself to her family, to their company. So, handling this such a huge deal is a dream come true she kind of wants to try since then. But how? Gad smiled slightly and then gave her a confident look. “I know you’re going to make it.” Seeing her husband’s confidence, Flora, who although worried, nodded to everyone without a second thought. “I will... I will take the deal and secure a fifty-million with Groupon Company, Grandma.”
