His heart hammered against his chest throughout the time. It was the first time that his meeting was so stressful that his heartbeats were almost doubled.
He didn’t care that everyone could smell and hear his apprehension. He wanted to talk about his idea when the time was right.
They went on the tour of their pack lands so the visiting delegates knew the length and breadth of the lands claimed by the Rogues’ community.
As Ben described and explained the topography and the need to remain hidden, Alpha Leo and Luna Emily appeared visibly impressed.
By the time they finished, it was lunch time. Their last stop was the dining hall and Ben spoke about the impressive number of werewolves they could feed at any point in time.
The hall was divided into two parts. The outer larger part had multiple tables and chairs arranged like a canteen. At one end the buffet was arranged for everyone to pick up whatever they liked. The buffet was manned by four- five omegas.
He was proud of his wolves. All omegas looked healthy and happy. The abuse was not allowed on his land and all abusers were castigated.
The inner small hall had limited seating and was used for special guests. They would be served at the table.
Ben ushered their group into the guest dining area. As he requested everyone to take their seats, everyone stopped, confused at the new person who had arrived hastily, swaying her hips.
Liam actually felt hot under the collar of his linen shirt. He hadn’t expected to see her anytime soon. Not till he had spoken to Leo about his idea.
“Hi everybody!” Monike greeted.
“Hello?” almost everyone greeted back, still confused.
“Baby!” She approached Liam and placed a hand on Ben's shoulder, stopping him from sitting next to Liam. Instead, she sat down in the chair meant for Ben while Liam mind linked Bella to move Monike from the hall. “Why don’t you introduce me to your friends? After all, I am going to be your Luna!” Monike pouted her red painted lips.
“Monike! This is not the time. You need to leave.” Liam said, controlling his shooting anger. He hated when people manipulated him. No wonder his pack despised Monike.
Monike’s eyes glistened with unshed tears. It must have been embarrassing for the snobbish princess, Liam thought scornfully.
Good for her, she said nothing, or Liam would have lost control.
Meanwhile, Ira waltzed into the room in the shortest summer dress that Liam had ever seen. Its yellow colour complimented her dusky skin. A small heart shaped pendant rested at the base of her neck and a thin golden chain glittered around her neck.
She had tied her wavy hair into a messy bun exposing her neck. His canines tingled as his eyes took in the smooth skin on the side of her neck.
“I am sorry. Bella couldn’t be here in time, so she asked me to get Monike.” She wriggled her hands and glanced at Liam once and then at Monike.
Liam caught his breath looking at the angelic, sun kissed face of the woman who had just entered. He was going to blast Bella for this later.
As if it wasn’t awkward enough with Monike here, now he had to look at the woman who he had seen undone in the morning.
The way her toes curled when her moist p*ssy clenched his fingers! Take your head out of the gutter! He chided his wolf as his annoying wolf pulled up Ira's one sexy image after another.
The memory made his m*nhood stir, and he swore under his breath.
This woman was going to be the death of him!
Totally oblivious to her effect on him, she still stood smiling at the door and peered at Monike nervously, swallowing what she wanted to say to Monike.
Liam looked at the chair next to him. Monike was shooting daggers at Ira.
He ran a hand through his hair, thinking of his next move when Lucas got up and hugged Ira.
“Ira! I never got an opportunity to thank you.” Lucas held her at an arm's length and exclaimed.
In his seat, Liam squirmed. How he would have loved to strangulate Leo’s stupid brother. He caught Monike observing him with a smirk, and that just blew his head off.
Ben rested a hand on his shoulder, 'easy boss. He is a guest.'. He knew Ben wanted to calm him down, but it wasn’t working.
At the same time, Luna Emily got up and hugged Ira. “Thank you so much for saving Lucas. We are forever indebted to you. Leo and I would love to have you over to our house someday, so we could host you. We want to express our gratitude to such a lovely person.”
“Not only me, Em. She saved Jade too. You should have seen this human girl leap from the cliff. It was mind blowing!” Lucas said, looking at her in awe.
That just infuriated Liam more.
He was going to stride over to Ira and pull her onto his lap when Ira spoke, freezing him in his spot. She had the most beautiful, calming voice.
“It’s nothing Lucas. You and Jade saved me first.” She gazed sideways at Liam.
He stared at her uncomfortably, remembering how she had escaped from his chambers a few days back.
Monike’s hand snaked into the crook of his arm and she pulled herself closer to Liam undoubtedly marking her territory. Ira’s eyes noticed the movement and her face fell slightly.
It took all his self control to not sprint to her. He couldn’t compromise the future of his pack but his gut twisted seeing the frown on her face.
He sat with a stiff back and continued to study Ira’s expressions.
This time Luna Emily spoke, wriggling her eyebrows in a teasing manner. “Oh, Lukie! You saved Ira, did you? Would you like to go out on a dinner date with this lovely human?”
“EM!” Lucas sounded exasperated. “You know I love Jade and can’t think of anyone else.”
“Oh! You love Jade?” Ira questioned and Liam raised an eyebrow at her tone. Did she sound dejected?
“Yes. I do. I have never loved anyone more than Jade. But I can take you out for dinner. I don’t mind dining with friends.” He winked and Liam couldn’t control it anymore. He did not want any un- mated wolf around Ira.
“She can't leave the pack until her work is done. She is bound by a contract.” Liam interrupted the unwelcome conversation and turned to Monike.
“Please go with her to Bella. She needs you to help her plan a party.” Liam said in a steady tone. He could barely control his voice as unreasonable anger coursed through him.
He was angry at Monike for bombing his meeting, annoyed that Bella had sent Ira to fetch Monike and upset that the young good looking alpha was friendly with Ira.
“What contract?” Monike snapped. “Where is she staying?”
“Not now!” Liam’s voice left no room for further discussions, and Monike huffed as she got up.
She glanced at Ira. Liam saw her devilish smile before she bent and her lips met his own, for a lingering kiss. He went stone still as Monike sucked on his lips.
He couldn’t respond, couldn’t think of what next, as he felt all eyes in the room on him, especially Ira’s. Monike continued to nibble at his lips and let her hand move towards his groin.
Her eyes lit up in excitement as she touched his h*rdness, and she whispered, “Oh baby! I will take care of that later.”
Little did she know that he had been h*rd for another woman from the time Ira had entered the room with her delectable aroma.
He sighed with relief as Monike stood up and sauntered towards Ira, but he did not miss the hurt in Ira’s eyes.
He hated many things in life, but that look was at the top of his hate list!
The moment the two women were out, and everyone settled down in their seats, Liam got up.
He mind linked his gammas making sure that there would be no interruptions and began, “Alpha Leo. Sorry for that. I would like to make a proposal.”
Leo smiled and nodded while everyone watched, including Ben.
“I am aware that Alpha Kirra wants to sign a truce with me. She knows that we mean no harm. If we get the support of the alliance, I would be able to manage my pack land easily. I am good with rogues, as you must have noticed. This truce will reduce the issue of rogue attacks on all packs and clans.”
Leo sat rubbing his chin with his fingers. Liam waited with bated breath. He knew when to back off and he knew for sure that overselling could kill a proposal.
“You could take your time to think! You don’t need to decide now. But I have a new pact to sign with the human Prime Minister and I would like to know your answer within a week.”
“Does this have anything to do with the young lady who kissed you?” Leo asked.
This time, Liam nodded and took his seat. “A little.”
“Is Ira your mate?” Luna Em asked.
Liam looked around. He had Ben by his side, but the rest of the people in the room were unknown. “I prefer not to answer that.”
