Startling Rustling

1163 Words
Ira Fuck*ing Witch and her god*damn son! Ira swore as she fell back in Liam’s bed. It was impossible. The pain in her back was unbearable. She just couldn’t push herself. If only James was here! He could have healed her. The witch’s healing spell worked best if there was a blood bond.  Fuc*k that! If only I had some magic in me! I could have healed myself! She hissed as she made up her mind to push herself out of the bed again. She had to leave before someone came in. She knew the route of escape now. Though she wasn’t sure if it would be as easy anymore. Her crippling pain and the fact that she had already used that route and escaped might complicate things a bit. But she had to give it a try. She couldn’t let Liam kill her brother and Kirra. She pushed herself up again and sucked in her breath. She was up, sitting. The back was burning. She took a few deep breaths and took stock of what she was wearing. Her shoes were lying at the door. The shorts and T-shirt were the same. As she took in the appearance of the room, the wooden door opened and in walked Bella with a tray in her hands.  “You love driving him crazy, don’t you?” She chortled. “I don’t know what you are talking about!” Ira grimaced and tried to get off the bed even as Bella came close to her. “Don’t even think about it! Stay where you are darl and have this warm soup. It will help you get your strength back.” She handed the tray over to Ira. A cream serviette was neatly placed next to the soup bowl with a green soup of a very unappetising appearance. She scowled at Bella. “What is this? I don’t want anything that the Rogue King wants to give me.” “Careful darl. He might hear. He is just being nice. He is the one who helped me get you out of the cell. Please have this. I promise you will feel better.” Bella adjusted the tray in front of her and sat next to her on the same wooden chair that Liam had yesterday sat on. Ira blushed as she remembered the man with the sensual gruff voice. His well-built body with bulges in the right places!  “Woah, girl! Hold your thought! One second you curse him and the next you are getting your panties wet over him!”  “No, I am not!” Ira picked up the spoon and dug into the gooey looking green stuff that Bella called soup.  “I am a werewolf. I can smell your arousal mate. Though that’s a little creepy knowing you have the hots for my king.” Bella laughed as Ira gagged on her soup. “Your king is a taken man! And what the fuc*k is this? Are you trying to kill me?” “Hehehe... Sorry for your luck. Yes, he has a girlfriend and no the soup won’t kill you. Be a good girl and finish it off. We need to leave this area asap!” Bella’s good-natured laugh calmed her. It was better to die by the soup served by her best friend rather than die of whiplashes. She shuddered at the memory of the cat o’ nines on her back and took another sip of her soup. “Don’t think about it. Liam made sure that no one would follow us or stop us now. But I don’t trust his mother. Better hurry up.” Bella got up and started pacing the room. She continued to glance at the door as if at any time an unwelcome person might enter the room.  Although the soup tasted like liquid dishwashing soap, it helped ease her pain and settle her tummy. As if a sudden burst of energy flowed through her body.  But the good feeling was short-lasting. Bella’s nervousness was contagious. “What’s happening, Bels? Why are you so jumpy?” “Because no one should know that you are here. Tongues have started wagging. If the witch knows that you are Liam’s mate, she will get you killed. Now finish that soup and let's scoot.” Ira quickly polished off the bowl and sprang out of the bed. Her back felt a lot better. She tried touching her wounds and they felt dry. “That’s weird! How did I heal so quickly?” “You haven’t healed yet. I have more of those herbs. I will feed you the same soup again. It is given to me by your Doctor Maggie. It will numb the pain and help you heal without making you drowsy. Now chop chop..” She clapped. “Don’t talk, just put on your shoes and follow me.” “Aiye Aiye Captain!” Ira mocked Bella giving her a false salute and swiftly put her shoes on. They hurried out of the room. The dark surroundings felt unfamiliar so she stuck close to Bella. She couldn’t understand why they were moving stealthily if Liam had given a command. Would all the werewolves follow his command? “Bels! I have a question!”  “Sssh…” Bella looked around, turned to Ira and whispered. “Now not! This area is unsafe. I will tell you when you can talk.” Ira moved her finger across her lips showing that she had zipped her mouth. Bella smiled and gestured to her to continue moving. ***** They kept moving in silence. Both of them were aware of the unknown eyes watching them. After a while, they were out of the excessive cliffs and stream terrain. Ira had no sense of direction. She thanked the Moon God for Bella. She would otherwise be totally lost in this maze. Now Bella had started speaking. "We are kind of out of the witch's main zone. Although if she knows of your identity, she won't lose a second in hunting us down, It will still give me some time to get you to safety. Why don't I turn into my wolf and you climb on me?" Bella suggested. "No way! I want to talk and I want to hear your voice! I have been quiet far too long!" Ira added hastily making Bella chuckle. They kept moving even as Bella explained how Liam had rescued Ira and how cross he had been with his mom. Ira's heart filled with adoration at the delinquent king's reaction to flogging. But she had to control her wandering heart. Liam was in a relationship and she would never poach. Both girls were walking together when they suddenly heard rustling and slithering around them. Bella swore and stopped in her tracks while Ira took a few more steps towards the trail that was visible in the trees. The scene in front of her completely stunned her. *****
