Pain, Horror and Rage

Liam He saw an empty syringe in Monike's hand. "F*ck! No! Ira!" The last thought before darkness took over. He landed with a thump on a soft bed of snow. He knew very well that it was his own space that connected him to the Dreamtime. He had read about this. Seeing it first hand was exciting, but then he remembered the glinting syringe from Monike's hand and the tottering a*ss of Ira as she had headed towards the washrooms. He ran around looking for his Lycan. It took a while as his big snow- white huge wolf like creature lay in the snow with closed eyes, completely merging with the snow. He reached the beast and his sluggish Lycan whimpered, ‘something is not right! I can feel it. Fight this poison mate!’ 'I am trying too,' he mumbled, bending down and stroking the head of his Lycan. It wasn't every day that you came face to face with your own beast. He was able to see his wolf and talk face to face, which meant he was unconscious. He had to do something quickly. Monike had pulled off a stunt. She would be punished but first… He tried to shake his Lycan awake. They needed all the alertness that they could muster together. The burning in his neck had frizzled out, which was great. It meant his body had metabolised the poison. What he couldn’t understand was how the hell Monike managed to meet a witch? Was Miriam helping her? If it was Miriam, how could she help? James had taken away all her powers… almost! Suddenly pain shot through his jaw, as if someone was holding it. F*ck! Ira! He moved his jaw sideways a couple of times to get rid of the ache and stroked the lower part of the face. He needed to wake up. His love was in danger. He shook his Lycan. ‘Come on mate! I need you.’ He looked around, to see if there was any help from the Dreamtime, but found only snow scattered till were his eyes could see. What was he going to do? He sat down, dejected, praying to the Moon Goddess to protect Ira. The cold snow felt good against his hot skin. Next came a sharp pain in his forehead. He knew this pain. It was as if he was being hit against the wall. Goddess, help her! How monstrous a person could be to hit such an angel? Again he got up in agitation… Ira! The sting on the cheek drove him to mad anger. Someone was assaulting his delicate mate. He was going to f*cking kill everyone who even touched her. He paced in his Dreamtime land not knowing what he could do, not knowing how he could harness this power. The anger and frustration suffocated him and screamed to free himself of his comatose condition. Then he heard his Lycan whimper. Was the crazy wolf waking up, after all? He pounced on his wolf… ‘Wake up! Wake up! Please!’ The Lycan opened his purple eyes, dark with rage gleaming in them and Liam sighed in relief. He felt tingling all over his body as the snow around him started melting and its level started rising, engulfing him and his Lycan. Slowly the melting snow merged with his body, which had melted too, and he started drowning in the molten snow. Spluttering and gasping, he woke up. His head was on the dining table, which had not been cleared. Hopefully, he wasn’t under for too long. He dashed out of the room at full speed. Their server was nowhere to be seen. The main hall was bustling with people who were dancing and grinding against each other, high on alcohol and maybe more substances, too. He tried to mind- linked his hybrids but couldn’t connect. There was no point in mind linking anyone else from his pack. They were too far away to be able to communicate with him unless he called. And even if he called, they couldn't reach here in time. The only person he knew who could get his mind link was Kirra, who would also take a while to reach the bar. He passed the message on to Kirra and continued towards the washroom. A sign of 'closed for renovation' was placed at the entrance to the corridor that led to the bar's usual washroom facilities. It asked customers to use the upstairs facility. He pranced towards the upstairs bathroom. It was bustling with young people. He headed directly to the woman’s washroom and walked in, causing a hue and cry as a few women gave him a mind full. He did not care. His mate was hurting. He checked the men’s bathroom next, but the place was too crowded and he couldn't feel Ira's presence. He wasn't even sure if he would be able to feel the same way or not as his Lycan still seemed off. What the hell? Where is she? Have they kidn*pped her? His heart hammered against his chest in fear. Goddess, please let her be safe! Would he reach in time? His body hurt. He did not even know where the pain was coming from. His mate was suffering so much! What were the bastards doing with her? ‘Quick! Try the lower washrooms!’ His Lycan whispered, sounding better but still not strong enough. He was used to constant conversations with his Lycan. He missed the power and positivity that came with his interactions with his sassy beast. ‘But it was closed!’ He said to his Lycan, continuing to race towards the lower washrooms. ‘F*ck the sign! Just go! I have a hunch!’ A trail of burning pain ran through his legs. ‘Ira! Quick! Quick! For the love of Goddess move fast human! I am still not a hundred per cent. Damn that bloody Monike!’ His Lycan mumbled in a weak voice, frustration dripping from his tone. Liam sprinted towards the women's washroom. The entire place was eerily silent. Even the corridor that led to the bathroom was deserted. His palms got sweaty and clammy, not knowing what to expect. The pain in his body was constant. He opened the door to the ladies washroom. It was all empty and clean. No one there but no renovations either. “Get off me you bastard,” his powerful ears picked up Ira’s voice, and he ran towards it. A partition separated the men’s washroom from the ladies. As he turned around the partition, he found a body lying in the corridor, with his face upside down. The body smelled of their server Joey. He turned the body using his foot, and it was definitely Joey with a different set of eyebrows and no moustache. The face teased his memory, but he did not dwell on it. He would get time later to understand what really happened. He growled in anger and looked inside through the blown- up door. In a clutter of things, Ira was on the floor struggling with a naked guy on top of her while Monike paced around them, throwing her arms in the air and saying something in agitation, pulling against the beast of the guy who just flicked her aside. She pulled something out of the man's hand and threw it out of the window and screamed at Ira to save her by using magic. The b*tch was taunting his mate and getting her r*ped! Anger coursed through his veins and fury, like he had never known before, surged through him as his heart battered against his chest, preparing his body to rip someone apart. His Lycan whimpered. He wasn't strong enough to take over. Liam did not care! His human self was enough for the coward trying to assault a woman. He roared and charged into the room, mad with blood lust. *****
