Who Needs Boys?

***** Three Days Later ***** Ira What do you do when you know things are not going to work out for you? When you know, you have fallen for a man who would never be yours? The most beautiful emotion of love can be equally painful when you see him being a doting lover to someone else. She grimaced at the look on Liam's face when she had seen him come out of his chambers before she hurried in here. What a masochist was I to have agreed to this sick job? How desperate and utterly despicable! How did I trick myself into accepting this? Ira sat on the office chair at the French door of her room overseeing a cliff. The bottom of the ravine in front of her extended downwards and met the lively gurgling stream of water. This was the same cliff, she had jumped from last week, with no worry or fear. She had wanted to get away from the same Rogue King that she had now stupidly agreed to work for. This house that she was sitting in, used to be his office but James had helped him convert it into a one-bedroom homestead with a kitchenette attached to the living room. It was small but would be enough for her. Magic could do wonderful stuff in amazing speed. She did not know his office had such a divine view. Now she could enjoy this view from her bedroom. She did not call him the Rogue King anymore. He had insisted on being called Liam. Not everyone had the same privilege though. His “subjects” still called him Boss. She rolled her eyes. The guy was super arrogant. She was an utter i***t! As she sipped on her tea recollecting the events of the last three days, she signed at how things had developed. It was unbelievable that it had been only three days since the battle! It felt like an eternity. After the battle, she had returned to Kirra’s packhouse which had opened its doors to all the surviving wolves. It had been a devastating battle. Miriam the manipulative witch had single handedly managed to get the wolves to fight and kill each other. Although it wasn't a tough job! Wolves were innately territorial and rogues were not allowed on any pack lands. No wonder the rogues considered all packs and clans their enemies. Traditionally most rogues resorted to illegal activities like stealing, drug peddling, human/ magical beings trafficking while some worked with humans in human jobs and earned money discretely, avoiding any contact with the magical world. The witch had managed to be the cause of so many deaths and maimed wolves! She still remembered the dread she felt when she had reached the battleground after James had defeated Miriam. She had accompanied Liam, Kirra & James and had been anxious for the lives of other people who she cared for. The stench of death and devastation had its gloomy shadow over the entire area. When she saw Bella’s unconscious body, she had thought Bella was dead. She shuddered remembering the scene. Liam had stood by her side in silent support. His scent and his presence both did a wonderful job of calming her. Maybe that had muddled her thoughts for her to accept his proposition. Thanks to James’ connections the healing faes had healed all the wounded wolves and Bella had gotten up to. But Bels did not seem to be herself. She looked sad and forlorn as she saw everyone around her. Especially when she saw Jade and Scarlet’s predicament. Wonder what connection she had to the two girls. Ira would need to ask her when she met her the next day. She knew Bella like the back of her hand and something was definitely off. The pixie did not appear fiery anymore. Ira had wanted to go with Bella but instead had returned to the packhouse. She had to be present for James mating ceremony. She sipped her tea which had started going cold. The sun was going down and the ravine in front of her was slowly turning dark. She had been too tired to eat anything and although Sarena had prepared a mighty feast, she had retired to her room letting exhaustion take over. She had to be bright eyed bushy tailed at James’ mating ceremony. It wouldn’t help if she looked all drained and exhausted. Later that evening she had got the news that James’ grandma Rianna was alive. She had been delighted to see James’ grinning happily. At least his life was getting back on track. His soulmate was safe and back with him and his family was happy with the recent developments. His granny, one of the most accomplished witches of their time, was alive. Although she wondered what was to happen to Waru now. He had been a total as*shole killing innocent people! What would the werewolves do? She had read about the werewolves law where each clan had a court that judged the crime of the members in their clan and meted out justice but what would happen when one of the criminals was an Alpha? It would be interesting to see. She had accompanied Aunt Eva to James’ mating ceremony. The Great Rite would be performed by Sarena. This sacred ritual would bind the souls of both Kirra and James. It had been a beautiful evening. The moon was moving into the eclipse. One of the best times for the witches to perform this magical ritual was just after the eclipse when the moon looked like an orangish red orb. It was believed that the rays from the blood moon created a bond of blood between the mating partners. The mild fragrance of flowers mixed with the erotic fragrance of the lust mix created an atmosphere of arousal and heightened sensations. The life of the witches was celebratory. They honoured every element and commemorated every feeling. The Blood Moon clan's elder Managana and his daughter Kyle also joined them for the ritual. The ritual involved intricate hymns and magical rhymes along with music and dance to be sung and played when the couple performed the non symbolic ritual of mating. The morning after that had started beautifully. She had been able to meet Rianna. She had spent time with Eva and then she and Kirra had hung out together doing some fun girl stuff like painting nails and sharing gossips. That night when Kirra requested her for a meeting, she hadn’t known that her life would change forever. After dinner, she happily went over to Kirra’s. Without explaining much Kirra and Sarena had accompanied her in the travel bubble which Kirra could now conjure at her will. They got off the bubble and her heart raced as she remembered the battle where Liam had first met her. Strangely she could still smell his masculine scent which had suddenly become her most favourite fragrance. She looked questioningly at Sarena and Kirra. Kirra nodded and gestured towards an area a little ahead of them. Two men waited for her in the shadows, as she walked slowly towards them. She knew them well so she wasn't scared. What were James and Liam doing together? Why was she called here in such secrecy? Why hadn't Kirra mentioned anything? She should have known that the s**t was going to hit the roof when her family was conspiring against her. That night she sealed this future of living in pain with the person who she had inadvertently been paired with by the crazy Moon God! She scowled at her cuppa. Liam had requested her to help him find his family. Her empathetic being had felt sorry for him and she agreed with very little convincing. He had smooth talked her into accepting this as a job while James had convinced her that she needed a safe space while the two bastards Alex and Jack were free. Sarena had also sided with Liam. And when Liam had invited Sarena to visit his territory, the old woman had politely declined. She had insisted that it wasn’t the right time. She had chuckled and in her cryptic style asked Ira to be ready for the roller coaster. Whatever the f**k that meant! Ira did not feel she was on a roller coaster. Se felt as if she was in a f*****g jail where she was engaging in masochistic pleasure as she saw the man of her dreams with Monike, the villainess of her dreams. She sipped her tepid tea and finally gave up her musings. Thank goodness James had helped set up this house within a day and now she had a house for herself on the table top of the hill where Liam's chamber was. Her frown depend as she thought of how close he was. Couldn't they have selected another spot? Anyways, it was better to be close to the library. She had been given an access key to his library so she could visit it whenever she wanted. She had access to the library from her bedroom. She wondered where this door would open as she did not remember seeing a second door. But she would get to that the next day. James must have done some magical changes. Hopefully, she won't have to meet Liam or Monike. Bella had helped her get her stuff here today when she had arrived with James. After settling her in, James had left and Bella had also excused herself. She had a lot of work to complete thanks to the Battle of Myponga. When she was saying goodbye to James, Liam and Monike had walked out of his main door, hand in hand. It fuc*king hurt!! But she had ignored it and headed indoors as soon as possible making sure that she did not have to talk to Liam when he was with his girlfriend. That had triggered these musings. She mentally thanked Sarena for giving her this herbal concoction for tea. It helped her relax. What was the point of pining for a taken man? It was her fate that she met him so late in her life. If she would have met him before he got betrothed to Monike, things could have been different. Maybe she was destined to a spinsters’ life where she would have to take care of her urges all alone. Maybe along with researching for Liam's family she should do a little bit of a research for herself to see what toys she would be interested in. Or maybe Jade could help. Jade and Scarlet would surely know of a few good ones. Yes! Her decision was done. She was not the one to mope for a man who did not want her. She would finish this project ASAP and get back to the comfort of her own life! Who needs boys, when you have books and s*x toys? *****
