Chloe’s Point of View
The silence between Zayde and me as we make our way back to the pack house is thick, charged. I keep thinking about what he said, that the storm isn’t coming. It is already inside of me.
And Zayde… The thought that something dark and ancient is bound to him too? That it’s not just me who could lose control, that it’s us?
By the time we reach the pack house, the tension between us still hasn’t eased. When we walk up to the pack house, the front doors are already open, and I can see them waiting for us. The old Alpha, Beta, and Gamma couples along with the current Beta and Gamma.

We gather in one of the sitting rooms, and Jack shuts the door behind us. In silence we all find a seat, while our mothers are getting everyone some warm drinks.
