Zayde’s Point of View
I look up from the stack of papers on my desk when a soft knock sounds at my door.
“Come in.”
The door cracks open and Chloe steps in, a small smile on her lips. She is holding a paper bag, probably from the baby store she went to earlier with Sky and Maya.
The sight of her instantly loosens the knot of tension in my chest.
“Hey. What are you doing here?”
I ask, smiling at her as I lean back in my chair.
She makes her way across the room slowly.
“I just wanted to check on you. You have been holed up in here all day.”
I smirk.
“Guilty. I have way too many reports to get through.”
I say, running a hand through my hair.
"Well, then you are in luck, because I have decided that you are not working through dinner tonight.”
She says with a smile as she comes
