bursts out laughing.
“I’d
like to be a fly on the wall to watch you.”
“No,
you wouldn’t, believe me. It’s funnier when I tell it. At least he promised me
a completely different evening for today, and I hope this time it will be an
evening labeled ‘I really want to seduce you’ and not ‘I want you to admit that
you’re lying to me.’”
“So
you think that’s what he’s trying to accomplish? That he’s playing a double
game?”
“I
have no doubt, especially after last night. As long as he isn’t certain of my
sincerity, he will continue to provoke me. But I admit I want to know how far
he will go—because I can last a really long time.”
“Does
this persistence come from the anticipation of a kiss? Is this kiss at the end
of the evening so magical that it makes everything bearable?”
