“Actually,
you’re the only person I want to see. I was about to come to your house.”
He
can see that I’m holding my purse, but he seems to have a hard time believing
me.
“I
spoke with Katie and Alex, and I realized that what we build can crumble in an
instant if we act irrationally because we’re hurt or afraid. I decided that I
want to give you a chance to explain. I can’t promise I’ll understand, but I
promise to make an effort.”
I
motion for him to follow me into the kitchen and while he cuts the cake, I pour
us each a glass of wine.
“I’ll
start at the beginning,” he says, sitting down opposite me after serving me a
slice of the cake which, by the way, looks delicious.
“During
my stay on the island, I realized that every day I was falling a little more in
love with you.
