1 Tiana
SOMETHING ABOUT HER
The first day at a new school was supposed to be exciting.
For Tiana,it felt like an absolute nightmare.
She stood outside the school gates, gripping her phone as she stared at the unfamiliar buildings and hundreds of unfamiliar faces.
“I’m literally going to die here I’m not even kidding”she whispered.
“You’re being dramatic,” Jasmine laughed through the phone. “You’ll be fine. Just walk in, find your class, and act like you own the place. You know as always.” She laughed through those last words.
Tiana rolled her eyes. “Easy for you to say, wait! What, girl you gotta be kidding me, you know you’re not the one starting at a completely new school.” She said
“You know I’m kidding but you’ve always been confident this should be a piece of cake, bye girll I have to go my mum is about to scream the house down.”Jasmine said
“Show off.”Tiana said as she was about to end the call.
After Tiana parents’ divorce, Tiana and her mom had moved to a new city, leaving behind everything she knew, her school, friends and basically everything she grew up knowing, although we can’t really say friends with an “S” because Jasmine was her only friend Her dad still lived in their old home, and she visited him sometimes, but things just weren’t the same anymore.
“Call me when you get to class, okay?” Jassy said.
“I will.”
Tiana took a deep breath and walked inside.
A few minutes later, she stood nervously at the classroom door. The teacher was already teaching.
“You must be Tiana,” the teacher said. “Come in. There’s an empty seat at the front.”
Tiana glanced at the empty seat and immediately shook her head slightly.
She walked toward another empty space beside a girl.
“Can I sit here?” Tiana asked.
The girl looked her up and down. “No. Find somewhere else.”
Tiana froze.
“Could this day get any worse” she scoffed
Then a girl from the middle of the classroom waved at her.
“You can sit here!”
Tiana quickly walked over.
“Thanks,” she said quietly.
“I’m Vanessa,” she said smiling.
“Tiana.”
And just like that, Tiana had her first friend or at least, someone who was willing to talk to her.
