Chapter 5

Serene's pov It felt like a dream to know he wasn't ordinary, a Lycan King and a billionaire, plus good-looking. Why he chose to marry me without knowing who I was still surprised me. There was this coldness he gave off, like he despised me. I didn't want to dwell on it, he wouldn't marry someone he despises. When he planted a kiss on my lips, I believed that it was real, I wasn't leaving in a dream. From almost getting killed by a cheating ex, to being married to a s*x-s*x billionaire god, and a Lycan King. The moon goddess definitely remembered to smile at me now. I could not contain the excitement inside as I smiled widely, waving to the people that came to greet me. After the ceremony, I must ask him about Hunter, if he was the one that rescued me. I did not get the chance to. He told me to go find a room. His eyes looked worried and I could not say anything. I found myself walking around aimlessly in the big mansion. I didn't know where to spend the night. I came across a group of women who were chatting. “You are the new Luna, right?” The one with blonde hair asked. “Yes,” I replied, smiling at them, they seemed friendly enough. “How did you get to meet Caden, and how did you get him to marry you? We are quite curious.” That got me confused. It turned out they were just a bunch of gossipers seeking clarification. “I don't know, it just happened.” Which was actually the truth. “Ohh my, you are so lucky, knowing how crazy Caden has been about Lilith, who would have thought?” The blonde continued. I didn't have any idea who Lilith was, and I didn't want to find out any from them. “I have to go now.” I told them without waiting. I walked away, hoping to bump into someone that might show me where Caden was. Neither could I find Katherine, so she could show me the room I had been going to earlier. I decided to go back to him and ask. The sound of angry shouting drew me in. I peeked to see Caden and the nice man talking. I wondered what they were talking about, so I hid behind the open door where they couldn't see me. From his conversation, Caden already has a woman he's in love with, and I'm just a replacement. It hurt that he just used me for something like that, without even telling me. I was wrong. All men are the same. Caden is no different. “When you find Lilith, kill Serene.” I gasped loudly on hearing that. Lilith, that must be the woman the gossipers were referring to. Ohhhhh no, he was going to kill me for eavesdropping first, then kill me a second time after finding his lover. “Show yourself.” He roared. I didn't wait for him to give the command twice, I stealthily crept out of the shadows and stood in the middle of the study. “I'll leave you two alone.” The nice man said. As soon as we were alone, Caden dropped the glass in his hand. “You were eavesdropping, not an attitude I condone in my house.” “You plan to kill me,” I fired back without thinking. “Yes, I plan to, after I get my mate back.” Caden replied coldly. What was wrong with those men? He didn't even try to deny it. “What? You expected me to lie, say something like, you heard wrong, I didn't mean it?” “No.” I lied. But I would have felt better if he had done. “Why did you marry me? If you have someone else in mind, you should be with her instead.” “Trust me, you are the last person I'd ever think of marrying. The situation caused it. I had no choice.” “You are a beast.” I spat. He closed the gap between us. I stepped back until my back touched the wall. There was nowhere for me to turn to. “You dare call me names after I saved your life?” I tried to put on a fearless face. “I didn't ask you to.” “No you didn't, I saved you so that I could use you for this fake wedding. There was no one available, otherwise I wouldn't have resorted to you.” “You are crazy, don't you think I owe you?” “Yes you do, and you should be grateful that the only thing you are doing is staying married to me and nothing else. That's a small price to pay for the person that saved your ass.” I was breathing hard, he was too close for comfort. No, I won't allow another man to treat me like trash, not after Hunter. “I refuse to stay here, I'm leaving.” I pushed his hand away. “No you don't, you aren't leaving this mansion until I say so.” Now I was mad, my hands flew with a mind of its own and I slapped him hard across the cheek, something I never dared on Hunter. My hands stung. I wondered if I had slapped him, or he hit my hand. I regretted it immediately, his eyes suddenly became dark as he pinned me to the wall. His hands circled my neck, choking me. “Who do you think you are? You are nothing but a twig in my hand.” I slapped him against his hand, I could not breathe, tears came out the side of my eyes. “You won't ruin my plans, get it.” his hot breath splayed on my face. I nodded in understanding, I could not speak with his hands around my neck. I was almost losing consciousness before he let go of my neck. I dropped to the ground panting, grasping for breath. “Don't ever think of standing in my way, don't ever think of objecting to me or even plan on letting anyone know what is actually happening, or you'd wish you were dead instead of being alive and here.”
